The hotel is not big, with only a dozen rooms, but it is really clean. Everyone is very friendly. Although the facilities are not as good as those of a standard hotel, it has everything it should have. It is suitable for staying for a few days. It is very cost-effective. It is close to the sea and you can walk to Shivaduka along the coast to see turtles.
The staff are very enthusiastic, the breakfast menu is very rich, there are many squirrels in the trees by the pool, and the Japanese restaurant on the rooftop is also very good. It is the most relaxing hotel in the whole trip. The children had a lot of fun, and a box of tea was given when they checked out. The only drawback is that we arrived at 2 o'clock and the room was not ready, but they were very enthusiastic to arrange a place for the children to go swimming first. The adults were very comfortable waiting by the pool, enjoying the sea breeze, the sea view, and drinking, so there is no need to deduct points.
The standard of this hotel and it's rooms, is exceptional!
Definetly 10 out of 10 for mine ,as l have stayed in 100,s of hotels around the world over the past 30 years,( except for Covid)
it;s not beach front ,but it is only a short scenic walk to a great beach area any way!
The staff where very friendly and helpful in advice on where to visit etc.
Would certainly stay again ,and l recomend this hotel to any one wishing to stay in this area.
The hotel facilities are excellent. Opened 24 years ago, everything is brand new. The ocean is right outside the door, and there's a private beach, making for stunning sunsets. Evening insect repellent is provided, and the entire hotel is bug-free, which is a nice touch. Breakfast is excellent, and there's an à la carte restaurant for dinner, with excellent seafood. Prices are reasonable before taxes, but slightly higher after taxes and service charges (the Sri Lankan government, after its bankruptcy, has been aggressively collecting taxes). The driver explained that this hotel caters specifically to foreigners, hence the higher taxes. The only downside is that the basic rooms don't have bathtubs, but it still deserves a five-star rating.
A wonderful hotel, although not new, the ocean is visible from all over the territory and rooms) delicious breakfasts and smiling staff! The room had everything you needed. We saw a cockroach in the room once, but this is normal for such a country and climate... it was certainly not pleasant and it’s good that we already went on an excursion 😄
We liked this hotel very much. A spacious and clean room with partial ocean view (second line) is fully matched by the photos on the site. Everyday cleaning, water, tea and coffee is all provided for a comfortable rest.
Breakfasts are delicious, though not in the Swedish table format. Hotel location is just great! It is at the end of the Unavatuna beach, just 15 minutes walk from the main tourist street. In two minutes the only Alcomarquet, and in 20 minutes walk the turtle beach.
But the main beach right across the road! There is a cozy and quiet bay where the waves are broken down about the stones without reaching the shore. Unlike the main beach where the strong flow can carry, you can swim quietly and enjoy the soft remnants of the waves.
I would like to celebrate the staff smiling, kind and very pleasant people. Thank you for your warm reception!
Needless to say jetwing, Lanka's high-end resort hotel brand. Although this is a franchise store and not a direct store, it uses its management team and its products. Small details need to be strengthened. A lot of food is shipped from the lighthouse hotel next to it, so the service time is relatively long, there is no bathtub, and the water output is slightly smaller. The manager is very enthusiastic and the service is in place. The other waiters are less experienced in internships and have poor English communication skills. Overall it is good, the environment has nothing to say, the quiet and private is generally satisfactory.
Loved the location, which is within short walking distance to the Galle lighthouse. But what I loved the most was the modern interiors of this Art Deco building . Our room was well designed and clean, complete with a bathtub and lovely marble finishing. I personally felt that the bed was one of the most comfortable I experienced during my week in Sri Lanka. I also enjoyed the sunset views from the rooftop bar and the pool, even though a little small was great for cooling down after exploring the old town on foot. My only comment would be that the shower amenities weren't in a good place, could easily slip during shower time.
Breakfast had an option of either local fare (to be prebooked) and western fare which was tasty. Definitely one of the highlights of our stay in Sri Lanka.
Very friendly host and his staff. The location is good. A really beautiful villa with all amenities. The best breakfast we had in Sri Lanka (we had 9 hotels). The pool is amazing. The hotel staff swept and cleaned the area every day. But the floor in the room was a bit dusty. Slow breakfast service. My advice is to serve breakfast indoors so that the guests are not bitten by mosquitoes. Thank you so much for your hospitality! I definitely recommend this villa to all travelers.
Traveling alone in Sri Lanka for a total of 8 days and 7 nights, all stayed in a homestay, this aspect is to control the budget, on the other hand, it is also able to deeply observe the people of Sri Lanka. This homestay is the best one I have ever stayed in in Sri Lanka. I arrived late and the hostess and her daughter had been waiting for me. The room was very spacious and clean. There was no breakfast in the order, and it was good for me to spend 5 dollars to try it. The only downside is that it is a bit far from the city center of Galle in the ancient city. If it is self-driving or chartered tour, there is no problem. When I left, I forgot to tell them that my email address is: ******************* I hope I can write an email to me!

VViol***We liked this hotel very much. A spacious and clean room with partial ocean view (second line) is fully matched by the photos on the site. Everyday cleaning, water, tea and coffee is all provided for a comfortable rest.

GGuest UserI had a wonderful experience at this hotel. The staff were truly amazing — friendly, attentive, and always ready to help with anything I needed. The location is perfect, with plenty of nearby amenities, restaurants, shops, and attractions just a short walk away.
Overall, it’s an excellent place to stay and I would highly recommend it to anyone visiting the area.
GGuest UserWe only stayed one night here to do the safari, but it is a very nice place. It is clean and roomy. The bed is comfortable. The bathroom is quite nice, although the shower lacks some pressure. The host was lovely and very helpful.
Hhitomi928Facilities: Not a newly opened hotel, but there is still a high standard of Shangri-La, especially want to go to the SPA, but unfortunately there is no time at all, you must go to experience it next time.
Hygiene: house keeping is very good, there is no dead end in health
Environment: The hotel has a large range, golf course, various activities facilities, and the swimming pool is big enough
Service: The best must be service, whether it is the front desk, restaurant, breakfast, room, lounge, caddie, where the waiters are particularly friendly and kind, have dinner at SERA for three consecutive nights, the last night, the little brother also prepared a special layout for us, very touched. The child was even more reluctant to give up on him, and agreed to go to him next time.
Shangri-La makes us feel that Sri Lanka is full of vitality and warmth, people are friendly and simple, animals are free and pure land
RRobby123From the moment we arrived, we were greeted by wonderfully friendly staff at the reception desk, and our positive impression continued when we saw our room. It was incredibly spacious and spotlessly clean and a perfect space to relax in.
Unfortunately, our enthusiasm dipped when we looked out the window. We had eagerly anticipated the sea view we booked, but found ourselves on the first floor looking directly onto the main path to the restaurant. The lack of both a view and privacy was a real disappointment.
The challenges were compounded by a local festival taking place during our stay. This rendered the beach unusable due to the sheer volume of people. Worse, the road closures made leaving the hotel a logistical headache, leaving us feeling a bit trapped. A final frustration was discovering there were no shops nearby and no convenience store in the hotel itself, so be sure to pack everything you might need.
In summary, while we can't fault the hotel on its cleanliness or the friendliness of its staff, the experience was significantly hampered by the room mix-up and the festival chaos. It wasn’t a bad stay, but it was far from the relaxing getaway we had planned.
JjainRajatExcellent location. Quite nearby to mirissa harbour and weligama. Liked the property. They arranged a candle lit dinner setting nearby beach as it was my honeymoon on request for no additional charges.
Liked the beach, the swimming facilities and the buffet for dinner as well as breakfast.
Arranged breakfast box as i had to go on whale watching and would have missed my breakfast.
Very nice staff.
Only thing they can improve is a bit quick on service as we had to call multiple times for getting our room cleaned.
GGuest UserHotel is very comfortable and client oriented. We are happy to stay there. Thank you very much for beautiful holiday and hospitality. Especially I should mention the size and delicious of breakfasts. A lots of thanks to the cook team
NNizhaobudaowoEnvironment: Beautiful environment, facing the swimming pool and the beach. The sand on the beach is very fine, so you can go without shoes without worrying about the pain.
Service: The cleaning staff is very enthusiastic. Every morning when I come back from playing, there are many fresh flowers on the bed and elephants and dogs made of towels, etc., which makes me feel relaxed immediately!
GGuest UserMy trip to Sri Lanka staying at RIU Hotel was amazing. It was my first time booking an All-Inclusive package, and I wasn’t quite sure what to expect—but overall, the experience exceeded my expectations.
There were a few areas that could be improved. The food, for instance, felt a bit low in quality, with limited options for a healthy diet. The gym was quite small, with limited equipment, and it would be great if the opening hours were extended to accommodate more guests throughout the day.
That said, the service was exceptional. The staff were attentive and professional, always anticipating guests’ needs—especially in the buffet restaurants.
Unfortunately, we didn’t get to try the à la carte restaurants as they were fully booked and very much in demand—something we weren’t aware of in advance.
We’d definitely love to return once the monsoon season is over, as the weather wasn’t ideal during our stay. The beach, while beautiful, was unsafe for swimming at the time, which was a bit disappointing.
CChris&MariaThis hotel is located in a remote area, which turned out to be a huge advantage. The peaceful surroundings allowed us to completely unwind without any distractions — it truly felt like we had the entire place to ourselves.
Right from the start, we were treated to a lovely surprise: a room upgrade with a stunning ocean view. Falling asleep and waking up to the sound of the waves was pure magic.
The food was a highlight — beautifully flavored local dishes with a creative twist. Knowing that everything was sourced sustainably from local farmers made the experience even more meaningful.
What really stood out was the hospitality. During my stay, I sprained my ankle, and the staff went above and beyond to take care of me. A special thank you to Lakshitha, who was incredibly kind and attentive throughout my recovery.
This is a place where nature, comfort, and genuine care come together. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking to disconnect, recharge, and experience authentic Sri Lankan warmth.
