The courtyard has been transformed into an attractive, open and barrier-free "town square", providing a modern and flexible space for established seasonal events and festivals. Characteristic steps, fountains, custom-made furniture and lighting all contribute to the contemporary design language, which is both sensitive and restrained and enhances the impressive architectural features and materials of classical architecture. In order to activate this space and overcome the change of water level, two cascading water features were introduced in the northwest and southeast corners, which cleverly explained the historical importance of water in fabric production. Special consideration is given to the economy at night to ensure that the hall remains active, safe and attractive at night. The eye-catching building façade has been illuminated by ground lamps that extend into the central courtyard to help define the public space. The expressive lighting design redefines the public space and declares it to be one of the most exciting night destinations in town.
