The hotel still picked us up from Furongzhen Railway Station and drove us to the scenic area even though I had already changed trains twice that day and made it terribly confusing for them to know what time I'd arrive. The scenic area required a small entry fee and ticket. They walked us to the hotel and helped us check in. The town is absolutely stunning and the photos attached are only photos I took from near our hotel. You can walk to the Waterfall in a few minutes. The hotel room itself was spacious and clean with nearly everything made out of wood giving it a very unique vibe. The morning breakfast was very basic but fine. I recommend everyone to stay one night at Furongzhen if you're going to Zhangjiajie, arrive at night and leave in the morning as the lights turn off at around 12am.

My stay this time was absolutely wonderful! The front desk staff were incredibly friendly and spoke excellent English. Check-in was quick, and they thoughtfully introduced all the hotel facilities and local attractions. The room was clean and tidy, and the bedding was so soft I slept like a baby. The bathroom had a great dry/wet separation, and there was plenty of hot water. For this price, to get such an environment and service, it's really great value for money. I'll definitely choose to stay here again next time and will recommend it to my friends!

The king-sized bed room was quite comfortable, and the service was excellent, especially the laundry service. Having a fridge was very convenient for storing local specialties we bought. Overall, I highly recommend it. It's very close to the Huangxing Square subway station and right on the Wuyi Square-Huangxing Square street, so you can shop late into the night before heading back, which is super convenient.
There are a few areas for improvement. Since it's winter, the water temperature from the showerhead was a bit low, and sometimes the water pressure was a bit weak. Also, during our four-day stay, they didn't change the bed linen set for the last two days. If that bothers you, you can always request it from the front desk.
However, these issues are likely something you can discuss and improve with the front desk. All in all, for students looking for great value for money, this hotel is an excellent choice!
I didn't take any pictures of the hotel, so here are some good things from Changsha instead.
Huge thanks to the butler for contacting us in the morning with directions. The ancient city at night is stunning, and waking up to such a beautiful view right outside our window was amazing. The staff were all incredibly welcoming, making us feel right at home. A pleasant 10-minute walk along the river takes you to the beautiful Wanming Tower, then on to the Rainbow Bridge and the charming stilt house clusters in the old town. We're very grateful to the hotel staff and look forward to our next visit!

I highly recommend this hotel in Zhangjiajie! The front desk staff were incredibly efficient during check-in and patiently answered all my questions without any fuss. The room itself was spotless, with fresh, clean bedding and great natural light, making it a very comfortable stay. The hotel's location is also super convenient; it's just a short walk to the Tianmen Mountain scenic area, and nearby malls for dining and shopping are easily accessible. The breakfast selection was quite comprehensive, offering things like congee, steamed buns, and various small dishes, and it all tasted pretty good. All the staff I encountered were friendly and greeted me proactively, which made me feel very welcome. Next time I'm in the area, I'll definitely choose this hotel again!

We stayed at this hotel for four nights during winter and the Christmas holidays.
The room was very spacious, bright, clean, and well-equipped - and perfectly warm.
There was a bathtub on the terrace; although the water gets nicely hot, the cold surface of the tub causes the water temperature to drop quite quickly.
The mattress, pillows were all high quality, and we truly enjoyed very comfortable, restful sleep.
The hotel staff were extremely helpful and kind, even assisting us with washing and drying our clothes.
The hotel's location is excellent. Right in front of the entrance, there is a bus stop that provides easy access to other park gates and back, as well as to the Grand Canyon.
If you enjoy hiking, I highly recommend walking the Shui Rao Si Men to South Gate route - it's flat, quiet, and full of natural beauty.
The owner is very nice and helpful. There are 14 people in our group and the owner and his team arranged 3 cars to pick us up at the train station and help carry our luggages to our room in the second floor. They also upgraded some of our rooms to the better ones. The river view from the room is very nice. The location is out of the busy area which took approx. 15-20 minutes walk to the main area. I think the location is fine for non-party group like us. Really recommended this hotel for your visit in Fenghuang town.

Staying at the Days Inn Wyndham Yuelu was a truly satisfying experience. The room was spotless and tidy, and the bedding was soft and comfortable. The bathroom features a dry and wet separation design, which is not only spacious and clean but also very convenient to use. The smart home system throughout the room is fantastic; you can control the lights and curtains with voice commands or a single touch, adding a great high-tech feel. Overall, it was a very pleasant stay, and I'll definitely choose this place again for my next trip!
The hotel is quiet, clean, and in a good location. It is a 200-meter walk to the shopping mall, where you can eat, drink, and play. Ctrip gave me Tremella soup when I checked in, and the room was worth the price. I went there for swimming, but it was closed at 7 o'clock during the Spring Festival. It was said that the lifeguards went off work early for the Spring Festival (understandable), but I went there the next day and didn't see any lifeguards the whole time... The water in the shallow pool of the swimming pool was warm, the environment was very good, and there was an endless city view...
A few suggestions, there were children staying in the room, but there were no supplies for children... Go to the front desk to ask. Toothbrushes and slippers were added later (no bath towels)
I initially thought the online reviews might be exaggerated, but my experience far exceeded expectations. The room had a Chinese-style decor with solid wood furniture paired with natural rock, giving it a very luxurious feel. At night, the sound of the waterfall acted like natural white noise, ensuring a very peaceful sleep. What's more, the butler service was exceptionally attentive and quick to respond, fulfilling every request and making our stay incredibly comfortable.

GGuest UserWe were pleasantly surprised that the room looked exactly like it did in the pictures! It was priceless waking up to these views in the morning. The hotel itself is surrounded by the mountains and there are views from the dining room as well. There is also a tea room where the staff will introduce and brew tea with you for free, and a massage service (outside of the hotel) that they can book for guests.
The staff helped to arrange free transport to and from Wulingyuan Entrance, on the days that we wanted to explore the forest. They also helped to book our park tickets, and explained in detai the recommended sightseeing routes. They were extremely responsive and helpful!
Breakfast was lovely - there was a selection of breads and pastries, fruits, traditional chinese dumplings, porridge, eggs, and more. The perfect fuel for exploring the forest nearby. Dinner was homestyle cooking, however do note that food may take slightly longer to come during the low season, as there are fewer kitchen staff during that period.
Overall, we truly enjoyed our time at Foggy Valley. If you are looking for a place to relax and unwind after exploring Zhang Jia Jie Forest Park, I would highly recommend this hotel!
CClinomaniac LyeLove our stay! This homestay provided far beyond the basic listed services and truly made our trip to Zhangjiajie memorable.
- before our arrival, we already felt the warmth and genuine hospitality. They patiently dialogued with us to plan how best to maximise our time during our 5D4N stay with them, and even considered the days after as we are moving to another homestay. They thoughtfully introduced and mapped out local attractions, helping us make the most of our trip.
- We appreciated their transparency when sharing their offerings and discounted rates, giving us space to compare without pressure. This gave us peace of mind even before checking in.
- One of the biggest highlights was how the homestay helped bridge the transportation gap. Despite the secluded location, they arranged reliable partner drivers who charged us at very competitive Didi rates, making travel easy and affordable without needing to worry about timing.
- We also loved the friendly dogs and cat around the homestay. They brought so much joy and warmth, and playing with them became part of our daily routine.
A special shoutout to Butler Jiang (将), who truly went above and beyond.
- Upon arrival, he noticed we had caught a cold and politely ask if he could prepare herbal tea for us. This became our daily comfort drink throughout the stay. We even felt shy asking for it so often, but he and the team kindly reminded us it was part of their care.
- One unforgettable moment was during a heavy downpour. With the road under government maintenance, access to the homestay became extra challenging for that day. Butler Jiang appeared with multiple umbrellas and a buggy (not something we had seen before!). Since cars couldn’t reach the homestay directly, he walked down to escort guests personally—soaked in rain but making sure each of us stayed dry. When we got on the buggy, we realized he had even opened umbrellas to keep the seats dry. We were deeply touched by his dedication. Upon returning, we were greeted by a joyful gathering of guests enjoying a mini party at the pavilion—a sight that perfectly captured the warmth and spirit of this homestay.
Another shoutout to their partnering driver sun (孙):
- After we moved to our second homestay, we once got stranded by the roadside because of Didi GPS error that made it difficult for a ride-hailing driver to locate the place. The only option offered by our then homestay was to dropped us at the base of a mountain, where we waited over 15 minutes with no success. Luckily, driver sun from Celestial Valley Homestay recognized us and offered us a ride, so we followed him back to Celestial Valley, and were warmly welcomed again with complimentary tea and another chance to enjoy the view and play with the pets.
- driver sun also took on our business and brought us to the city and even took us on another round trip to a faraway attraction. We were no longer guests at that point, yet the hospitality continued. We were truly thankful for the extended service and kindness.
This homestay gave us more than just a place to stay—it offered warmth, care, and unforgettable memories. It's this genuine hospitality that makes Celestial Valley such a rare gem.
Highly recommended for anyone looking for heartfelt service, breathtaking views and a true home away from home.
GGuest UserAs a traveler who needs to balance online work, this place has surprised me. The whole house smart provides an efficient and convenient environment, and the high-speed network allows me to handle work at any time. The high-end toilet and free drinks are the embodiment of quality life, and the sky garden has become my open-air office, with a broad view and abundant inspiration. Take a walk to the Wulingyuan Marking Gate to relax your mind and body during the work break, exercise at the well-equipped gym in the evening, and the three lovely cats are also good companions to relieve stress. This balance of being able to work efficiently and experience nature deeply allows me to travel and work at the same time.
AAnonymous UserThe hotel's location is excellent, just a few minutes' walk to the Old Town scenic area. The hotel management is very strict, ensuring a clean environment and complete facilities. They even have an exclusive floor for Trip.com users. The hotel's service philosophy is strong; floor attendants quickly address and resolve any issues with a great attitude. The front desk staff are also very helpful, always ready to answer questions. The daily complimentary fruit helps replenish trace elements and alleviate fatigue, and upon check-out, they even offer local specialty snacks, which is a thoughtful touch. Most importantly, it's very pet-friendly, showing they are a caring establishment.
GGuest UserOverall, this was a pleasant stay and I will book again if I visit Qiyang again.
We had 2 adults and 2 young children. Wishing to stay together in one room, they happily allowed this and waived any additional charge for breakfast for my 2 kids.
The place was clean and very comfortable.
Whilst the rooms are very clean some mould is starting to colour on the waterproof sealing in the shower. I hope the hotel keeps the clean appearance with a bit of bleach cleaning on the mould.
Another great plus is that they have 2 free to use washing machines and 2 dryers. I hand washed stained clothes in my room and use the machines for the final wash. It became one of the things I did whilst the wait was used to train in the gym next to the laundry area.
The gym was rudimentary but if you know how to train, bringing in a couple of training bands will be adequate. The bench is a bit wobbly so watch out for that.
The location of the hotel is perfect with a large park opposite.
For western visitors, I think they need to understand a few things about hotels in non-first tier city in Mainland China and specifically Qiyang.
1) Yes, most things are in Puntonghua (including the room's voice control AI) although the front desk staff can communicate in basic English.
2) The breakfast food buffet is distinctly catered to local tastes, so you won't get western style croissants, sausages, bacon and eggs. What you will get is the delicious freshly made noodles and boiled eggs, steamed rice bus, fried noodles, fried rice, spicy fried pork and beef, with congee and Chinese style broth. If you want western breakfast, you need to go to local McDonalds which is a 5 minute taxi ride away.
3) That brings me on to taxis. On the plus, its cheap. Most taxis charge around RMB10-20 (USD 1.40 -2.40) for a 2 mile radius. On the negative, you need to be able to get one and the hotel doesn't have a taxi call service, not by any fault of the hotel but by the lack of committed taxi drivers who are willing to work with the hotel, so very much hail on the street yourself kind of thing.
4) There is a KTV on the 3rd floor of the hotel but that is normal for a big Qiyang hotel. I would definitely recommend one of the higher floors if you want a little less noise.
5) And yes, there is literally one or two German cockroaches in the room at night but luckily not a serious infestation level. That is expected for rural places like Qiyang especially where the origin of the infestation may not be at the hotel itself.
3300955****Facilities: This place offers amenities you'd usually find in a thousand-dollar hotel, like a '闺蜜机' (a device often used by female friends for entertainment/mirror selfies), Dyson hairdryer, mini-fridge, laundry service, and an elevator – they've got it all.
Cleanliness: From the moment you step inside, you can feel how spotless it is.
Environment: Right outside is a river with various birds. If you step out the front door and look right along the river, you'll see locals doing their laundry in the most authentic way. Just a couple of steps to the right is the excellent photo spot shown in the second picture.
Service: The owner's service is absolutely top-notch. I spent 4 days in Zhangjiajie, and for the first two nights, I wasn't staying here, but the owner already started helping me plan my itinerary. On the second day, when the Tianmen Mountain cableway was undergoing maintenance, the owner informed me immediately, whereas the other guesthouse I was staying at had no reaction at all. The contrast in service quality is clear. The service is so meticulous and excellent that you constantly want to chat with the owner, but at the same time, you feel like you might be bothering them – truly a ceiling-level experience.
GGuest UserThe best reception in any resort I have ever gotten!
Mainly Cherry received us very warmly, guided us, produced us with a lot of helpful tips and tricks.
The room we stayed in was the Watery B one, very spacious, nice bathtub and very clean.
Location-wise they provide you with free shuttles to the train station, Natural Park (Avatar) & Glass Bridge.
The food in the Chinese hotel was nice, with a very talented singer, Monica.
The owner of the hotel is very warm, curious and smart person.
Altogether, we felt home there and will 100% return!
GGuest UserWow, this hotel truly exceeded all our expectations. Everything about our stay was exceptional, and I can confidently say there was not a single fault.
From the very beginning, we felt incredibly welcomed by the staff. We were greeted downstairs at the door, our luggage was taken care of, and we were even offered tea and a hot towel, which was such a nice gesture.
Before we were escorted to our room, the staff even helped us to change into slippers (outside shoes aren’t allowed past the lobby). One of the staff members then accompanied us to the room and explained every detail about it, something I’ve never experienced before. The room itself was also spotless and very comfortable. The shower was spacious, and the toiletries provided were of high quality.
I also wanted to mention a moment where I truly felt genuine care from the staff. On a day when the temperature suddenly dropped, they had advised us to dress warmly and even provided us a bag with rain jackets and water. Without this kind gesture, I genuinely feel like I would’ve gotten sick so I felt extremely thankful. Coming back to the hotel, they even welcomed us back with hot tea and dessert, which was such a comforting and thoughtful touch.
The hotel was also home to five adorable and friendly kitties. As a cat lover, this was such a delightful bonus and made the entire stay feel even more charming and homey.
Overall, I would highly highly recommend this hotel. Although it is slightly pricier than the average of most hotels located in Zhangjiajie, the service and quality of the room definitely make up for it. There is no doubt that I’ll be staying here again when I come back to visit!

GGuest UserHonestly, this was one of the warmest hotel experiences I’ve had in China. The staff were super friendly and went out of their way to help me with everything — from prebooking the scenic area ticket (at a discount!) to arranging a smooth free pickup based on my train arrival time.
They even upgraded my room for free to one with a great mountain view. Throughout my stay, they helped me explore the area and even told me about the evening cultural show in the village — which was amazing, and I would’ve totally missed it if they hadn’t mentioned it.
In the morning, when I said I couldn’t eat pork, they quickly prepared a special noodle dish just for me and helped point out the other pork-free options. They also arranged my departure taxi without any hassle.
The location is great too — just a few minutes’ walk to the waterfall. Overall, such kind people and a genuinely pleasant stay. Highly recommend this hotel.
