RRuben S.B.I've been Lucky to travel the world for already more than 40 years either for business or leisure, and this is one of the best hotels I've ever stayed at regarding hospitality and charming service, far beyond what you expect from an excellent boutique hotel.
Weeks before arriving, housekeeper Xiao Tang set up a WeChat group to help us get tickets in advance for all the spots we wanted to visit (Tianmen Mountain, Zhangjiajie National Park, Furong Ancient Town, Grand Canyon and Glass Bridge, Baofeng Lake...). He was incredibly kind, efficient, and proactive, even arranging a private driver to pick us up at the airport.
At the hotel, we realized this excellence is shared by all staff. Ms. Yuan Yuan, our butler, was amazingly helpful. Special thanks to Sunny, who speaks perfect English; her endless kindness and tips helped us enjoy our excursions avoiding crowds.
The hotel features a special charm mixing modernity with a mystical cave style. The pool view during breakfast and from our panoramic room was worth it. The room was spacious and beds comfortable. However, as a constructive critique, the lack of a closet meant keeping clothes in our luggage on the floor for 4 days. Also, the lack of separation between the bed and the bathroom means no privacy at all, which might be uncomfortable for some guests.
Breakfast had a lot of variety, especially the Chinese food, though the Western pastry and bread could improve. The location is ideal: right by the river, a few minutes' walk to the core streets of Wulingyuan, yet very quiet for a good rest.
I highly recommend this hotel to anyone exploring this beautiful region while enjoying outstanding human value. A big thank you to Xiao Tang, Sunny, Yuan Yuan, and all their colleagues. We will surely come back!
