We at Trip.com may be known for our superb holiday deals, cheap flights and our best-in-class travel app - but we feel it's our duty to recommend some fantastic music festivals for you to experience in summer 2023.

Here we're highlighting a selection of 9 gatherings of musical acts to dance, mosh or sing along to in a large open space. Disclaimer: tickets are available at the time of going to press - so please don't blame us if they're sold out when you read this!

With that in mind, here are some of our recommendations for festivals in Europe this summer (tickets are still available at the time of going to press). Don't forget to book your flight or hotel with us…

When: 9 - 11 June

For fans of: Dance, electronica, rock and more

Visiting the Netherlands for festival fun is always a great idea, so it's hard to pick just one recommendation - so we've gone with the one with our favourite name…

This festival is all about the vibes - and with a name like Best Keep Secret, is that any wonder? And the line-up is fab as well, with the likes of Aphex Twin, The Chemical Brothers and The 1975 performing. In short, if you're looking for a summer festival, get booking!

Location: Best Kept Secret is located near Tilburg in the south - the train system means you can get there from Amsterdam, but Eindhoven Airport is only a 25-minute drive away from the festival location.

When: 8 - 10 June

For fans of: Dance, rock, indie, hip hop, pop - everything, really...

Primavera Sound is arguably Iberia's most famous festival - and in 2023 there are 3 different variations to pick from, with a festival each in Barcelona, Porto and Madrid.

We've gone for the latter, for no particular reason - Pet Shop Boys, Blur, Halsey and New Order headline both of the Spanish versions, you can take your pick. If you decide to go for Porto, Kendrick Lamar will perform. So it's really down to you…

Location: Arganda del Rey - there are metro stations near here, and Primavera Sound is conveniently close to Barajas Airport.

When: 18 - 26 August

For fans of: Dance, hip hop, indie, alternative

We're cheating here slightly, as All Points East isn't so much a festival as a collection of mini festivals, all taking place in the latter half of August. Aphex Twin, Stormzy, Jungle, Haim and The Strokes headline the main events, and there will be a huge selection of other exciting names too…

Location: Victoria Park, the biggest green space on the eastern side of London. Easily accessible by Overground, the tube, and bus.

When: 14 - 17 July

For fans of: Dance, indie, hip hop, pop

A music festival surrounded by beautiful French countryside. Need we say more?

…OK - we'll say more. Located not far from Bordeaux - prime wine territory, if you didn't know - is one of the biggest festivals in France. In 2023, Macklemore, Skrillex, Phoenix, David Guetta and Fred Again.. headline a wonderful mix of acts.

This one is an absolute must for festival purists.

Location: Marmande, in the southwest of the country roughly an hour's drive from Bordeaux. The train station in Marmande is around a 10-minute walk from the festival site.

When: 7 - 9 July

For fans of: Indie, rock

Pulp, Sam Fender and The 1975 are the big names at Glasgow's TRNSMT festival.

A range of indie rock artists will also perform at a city that can lay claim to being the home of the most fun in the whole of the British Isles. The only thing you'll need to hope for is a-typical British summer weather…

Location: Glasgow Green, in the east end of the city - you won't struggle to get here…

When: 7 - 9 July

For fans of: Hip Hop

Munich might be famous as the home of Oktoberfest, but if you're into rap and hip hop, the Bavarian capital is hosting one of the summer's Rolling Loud events.

Wizkid, Kendrick Lamar and Travis Scott headline a genuinely star-studded list, with tons of other world-famous artists supporting. And if you can't make this one, there are several other Rolling Loud events across the globe in 2023…

Location: Messe München, one of the world's largest exhibition centres. Conveniently, and perhaps unsurprisingly, it is easy to get to and from Munich city centre.

When: 6 - 9 July

For fans of: Dance, indie, hip hop and a whole lot more

A multiple winner of the Best Major Festival award, Serbia's Exit has become renowned as one of the finest European festivals since its foundation all the way back in 2000. The big names for 2023's edition are The Prodigy, Skrillex, Claptone and the Wu-Tang Clan - in short, it's eclectic, so we're pretty sure you'll find something you like…

Location: Petrovaradin Fortress (it looks fantastic) in Novi Sad, Serbia. Take note - the location is approximately an hour away from Belgrade airport, so you'll need to plan your route ahead of time.

When: 14 - 17 June

For fans of: Metal and hard rock

What list of festivals is complete without one for the metal-heads? If your musical tastes are a little more ferocious, Copenhell - unsurprisingly located in the Danish capital - is the festival for you.

Def Leppard and Motley Crue bring the classics, while Slipknot and Ghost are among the modern metal monsters playing here. In short, if you like heavy music, Copenhell is a guaranteed winner…

Location: Refshaleøen, a former industrial site in Copenhagen's harbour. There are plenty of buses from the city centre to the festival site.

When: 10 - 12 August

For fans of: Electronic (Techno)

Three days of live music in the Algarve, at the height of summer. Sounds pretty magical to us.

One for the techno-heads, the headliners include the likes of Biia and Charlotte de Witte, meaning you'll need to pack your dancing shoes if you want to head to Neopop in 2023…

Location: There are plentiful trains around Porto and the Algarve - the train station to Neopop is Viana do Castelo.
