This hotel is highly recommended for those looking to save on accommodation costs within the resort, especially if your priority is simply a clean place to sleep.
**Convenience and Activities:** Many tour companies offer pick-up and drop-off services right in front of the hotel, making transportation incredibly easy. There's also a free shuttle bus stop within the resort, providing seamless access to other areas.
**Social Atmosphere:** The on-site ”Pioneer BBQ & Bar” is lively and features live music.
If I ever come back to Uluru, I'll definitely stay here again!
The best hotel in all of Australia.
The staff is very helpful and kind, ready to solve our problems.
The room was very clean, far above the standards of all other hotels in Australia. The breakfast was quite varied and averagely good.
A note of merit to this hotel for the presence of the laundry, with washing machine and dryer, very useful for travelers.
The only hotel I would return to in Australia, I recommend it.
Stayed 2 nights in May 2026. Location is walking distance to supermarket plus F&B places. Room is clean n breakfast provided is continental which suffice for me. It starts at 5.30am which facilitates having a quick breakfast before you get picked up for day tours to Litchfield Nature Reserve or equivalent. The pick up times are around 545 to 6am. Service staff are friendly n helpful. There is a small pool good only for dipping.
For a hotel in central Australia, A$500+ is acceptable. Especially the Chinese-speaking staff at the front desk were very welcoming and the restaurant service was also good, but honestly, the food wasn't great and I wouldn't recommend it.
I was so lucky to check into the hotel and meet Ms. Nie, the only Chinese-speaking staff member at the front desk. She patiently explained the hotel facilities to me. That evening, I was unsure about coming to the front desk because I was attending a Chinese stargazing event, but with her help, I confirmed the pick-up location. The next day, I went to the front desk again because I hadn't successfully booked the 'Field of Stars' exhibition. She patiently listened to me and then helped me contact the relevant company. After several negotiations, she finally helped me resolve the issue. Honestly, my English isn't great, and if it weren't for her, I really don't know what I would have done. But she just said, 'It's my job, no need to be polite.'
Additionally, there was a small background light in my room that I couldn't turn off. I contacted the front desk staff the next day, and they immediately came to fix it for me. So, I want to say their service is excellent. The hotel is very affordable. For a simple meal, we ordered pizza, fries, and beer. It was delicious. The next day, we went to another hotel, and the food really wasn't as good as theirs. We ate in a temporary shed set up outdoors. In the evening, there was also a singing performance, which was very lively. There's also a BBQ area where you buy your food and grill it yourself. Everyone grilling their own meat with music playing was very lively.
Although the exterior of the hotel rooms is quite ordinary, the interior facilities are not old, and it feels very cozy to stay in, with no strange odors. The two single beds in the standard room are very large, making it comfortable to sleep alone. The hotel breakfast is $49 per person, with a good variety of fruits, yogurt, bread, and fried eggs. I genuinely feel that such a breakfast in Australia is quite good. We stayed for two nights, and the room was tidied very cleanly when we returned. Each room has its own air conditioning, so you can turn it on when you go out for stargazing at night and come back to a warm room. The hotel also has its own small observation deck, which is said to be the closest to Uluru in the resort. It's only a 5-minute walk from the room door. Overall, I feel this hotel offers good value for money.
First of all, it was very clean because it was renewed. Nevertheless, due to the local characteristics of Darwin, I saw insects in the room on the first day, but when I told the office, I cleaned them and put them in the room.
Locationally, there was a mindil sunset market within walking distance and cbd was not too far away.
Although I inquired about the check-out rate due to the flight, I was disappointed about the part that cost $30 an hour, but other than that, it was generally a satisfactory visit.
100% recommend this place! The staff is simply amazing and kind. The guy at the reception which we assume to be the manager was so helpful and accommodating. The room was nice and we liked the new decoration ! Please do yourself a favor and come stay at this place. Also loved the private parking, helped us to sleep better knowing our car is secured.
Very convenient location as it’s next to the town centre and shopping mall. Staff are friendly and helpful. Some rooms however are seen able by public access so privacy may need to be protected. Due to the open corridors and courtyards are surrounding all the rooms, could be very noisy if other guests are having conversations. Note that the desk phone in all the rooms are not working just for display! There’s no food and beverage facilities.
The room was spacious and the location was excellent, with the ocean in front and the CBD behind. Everything in the city center was within walking distance. The noodle house on the street behind the hotel was delicious. The staff were very friendly, enthusiastic, and attentive. I would definitely stay here again next time I'm in Darwin.
Great location when visiting Kakadu National Park. Original architectural design. However, room and dining prices are inflated to due the remote location (tight supply and high demand of lodging options). Pool is small but does the job to help cool off.

RRip RipWas expecting more given the price we paid, apparently already considered low season.
The pool lagoon was disappointing and expected higher standards, more staff and cleanliness.
Hotel restaurant food expensive unless ******** and apparently would have great discount.
Room service was good and value for money.
Expected small amenities like free bottled water to be more generous given the heat. Apparently just 2 bottles per check in although we stayed 2 nights .
Bathroom and toiletries reasonable although bathroom door had a drum which made it inconvenient to open as door swung closed automatically ..

228Rahil08We really enjoyed our family stay at Desert Gardens Hotel in Uluru. The location within the Ayers Rock Resort is excellent and makes it very easy to explore the area.
Our room was large, comfortable, and offered plenty of space for a family of four, which we really appreciated after long days out. The hotel also offers tours, making planning straightforward and convenient. A complimentary shuttle bus runs to the marketplace, which is a great touch and very practical.
The nearby marketplace is a real highlight. There’s a supermarket with everything you might need if you don’t want to eat at the hotel all the time, as well as several tour providers where you can easily book individual or group tours. It was also lovely to see Indigenous artists selling their paintings and crafts, which added to the overall experience.
Overall, Desert Gardens Hotel is a very comfortable, well-located choice for families visiting Uluru, and we would happily stay there again.
GGuest UserPerfect hotel location for our needs since it is very close to the airport and the Marrara sport complex (10-15 min walk) in which our event took place. What we love most: very clean hotel room, convenient park ing spot right in front of our unit at an extra cost, great pool facility and some restaurant and coffee shop option on site. The room we booked was really spacious. We had a very pleasant stay.
GGuest UserGreat place for an authentic outback experience. Well done to the team for offering very reasonable pricing on food and drinks.
The common facilities were well maintained and in good condition.
Our main concerns were the lack of an emergency contact number and the air conditioning in Cabins 24 and 25, which was not functioning effectively at the start of summer. Initially, we assumed this was due to daytime heat; however, the cabins never cooled properly, even later in the day.
If the issue was related to the cabin location, providing pedestal or portable fans would have helped. What was confusing is that the same air-conditioning units installed across the resort appeared to work well in other areas, such as the toilets near the bar.
Overall, it’s a great property, but addressing these issues would significantly improve guest comfort .
GGuest UserEverything about Club Tropical Resort in the month of February, where the weather is consistently warm, humid and wet, is a complete joy to a visitor from Melbourne. The rooms are clean, the bed was very comfortable, and the ability to entertain friends and family are outstanding. The pool is the centerpiece of the whole site, where I spent many hours during my 7 day stay. For anyone who thinks it is too far away from the city of Darwin, there are supermarkets and the entire Casuarina shopping centre within a 5 minute drive. If it is wilderness you want, the resort is right next to that too with Buffalo Creek and Lee Point only a walk away. Parking is great, the restaurant was fantastic, and I am struggling to find anything wrong with my stay. But there was one thing - it was not long enough!
GGuest UserLarge room with a wonderful view over the city. A short 5 minute walk to the mall. Wonderful basic complimentary breakfast with opportunity to upgrade to a la carte.

JJeremy1eeStayed here with friends this time, and the experience was fantastic! The hotel's location is superb, right within the resort area, making it very convenient to get everywhere. The room was even more spacious than expected, and the cleanliness was impeccable. The bedding was also very comfortable. All the facilities were top-notch; both the pool and the restaurant were unique. The front desk service was warm and efficient, always ready to help. All in all, this was an exceptionally good stay, and we'll definitely choose this hotel again next time!
