My wife , myself and my daughter stayed at the Protea airport hotel just for the one night before travelling onward. Wonderful modern hotel, good amenities , a pool, and rooms were lovely ( showers actually in the bedrooms, toilet separate .. quirky , but kinda modern). Reasonably priced bar and room service . The best ( or worst thing for us ), was that my daughter wad taken ill in the night , and at 3am I had to go down the reception and ask about a doctor . The girl on the desk could not have been more helpful, and got a doctor out within the hour , who treated my daughter wonderfully , enabling us to carry on our next leg of the journey next morning. We are so grateful to the staff / girl on the desk ( I think she was called Moise, but can’t be sure. ) Never forget what they did for us and would recommend staying here to anyone

The washing machine was out of order, tripping the circuit breaker the moment it was switched on. The shower didn't drain properly. Cleanliness was also mediocre; there was a cardboard box left behind by the previous guest, and even minor details were dusty. The gym equipment was broken and left unrepaired.

For the price the place is okay decent enough however the staff is really loud at night . Not the reception but the team doing maintenance at night they really inconsiderate . I wouldn’t book the Melrose ever again because of that . I’ve tried the one in Sandton Katherine street I really enjoyed it .

It was our first time in joburg and it was lovely. The hotel was always clean. The food was great. Aside the breakfast which had a lot of variety, we also got to try some local dishes recommended by staff at the restaurant. The room was small but it was sufficient, as we were mostly busy sightseeing.

Great location for us, although getting there in the evening was a bit scary! Great rooms, wonderful staff and delicious breakfast!

It's the first time I've been here. The breakfast is OK, but the room is small and the view outside the first floor window is poor. The price/performance ratio is pretty decent. You can order takeout via Uber.

The hotel smelled so good right from the entrance. The staff were very professional, kind and helpful. The shuttle driver David was extremely kind. He walked me to Nelson Mandela square and showed me also how to get back to the pick up area. He addressed me as “madam”. The check in was easy peasey. The young lady at check in was so helpful and kind. The concierge was beyond helpful too. The young man I forgot his name was so welcoming. Showed me how the elevator works. The restaurant staff especially the guys in the kitchen who cooked my eggs were very understanding and kind. Everyone I met at the hotel left a lasting impression on me. I recently stayed for a couple of nights, and overall, it was an average experience. The check-in process was smooth, and the staff was friendly, which I appreciated. However, the room itself could have been a bit more updated. While it was clean, the furnishings seemed a little worn, and the bathroom, although functional, had some minor issues like a leaky faucet. The bed was comfortable enough, but I did find it a bit harder than I prefer. The hotel amenities were standard—there was a gym and a small pool, though I didn't have time to use either. The Wi-Fi worked fine, and I didn't encounter any issues with the air conditioning or heating during my stay. One thing that stood out was the location. It was pretty convenient for my needs, close to a few restaurants and shops, though not overly special. I was hoping for a bit more from the hotel's restaurant, as the menu was somewhat limited and the food was just okay. In short, it wasn’t a bad stay, but it didn’t blow me away either. If you’re just looking for a place to sleep without expecting anything extraordinary, this hotel will do the job.

The overall experience is very good. The service staff here is also very good. The environment, hygiene, accommodation and meals are all very good. It is worth staying here. HLOGI and HAPPY are all very nice. I look forward to staying here next time.
