Great location, many famous eateries are within walking distance. Although it's an old five-star hotel, the decor is dated, and the room had a damp, musty smell. Before arriving, I specifically called to ask if they had Dyson hair dryers, and customer service confirmed they did. However, upon arrival, it wasn't a Dyson. When I asked the front desk to change it, they said only suites had Dyson dryers, but they did eventually switch it for me. Also, for such a well-known hotel, there are no delivery robots, so I had to go downstairs myself to pick up takeout orders, which is quite inconvenient.

I would like to begin by commending Ms. Destiny Xu for her outstanding assistance throughout my stay. She went above and beyond to ensure that my accommodation requests were met. Her professionalism, kindness, and strong work ethic truly stood out and made a lasting impression. Ascott Raffles City Chongqing is by far the best hotel I have stayed at in Mainland China. The architecture of the building and rooms is absolutely stunning, an impressive blend of modern design and elegance. It was a true pleasure to experience the hotel’s renowned structure in person. The staff members were exceptionally courteous and attentive. They consistently greeted us with warm smiles and were always ready to assist with luggage and transportation, even opening and closing car doors upon our arrival and departure via DiDi. I also greatly enjoyed the gym and swimming pool facilities, both of which were well-maintained and inviting. The hotel’s location is unparalleled, it sits at the heart of Chongqing’s main attractions. Raffles City Mall, public transportation hubs (including bus, train, and railway stations), as well as various shops and markets, were all within close proximity. Lastly, the common areas and outdoor walkways were among my favorite features. They offered breathtaking views of the bridge, the river, and the city’s impressive skyline. There was even a nearby tennis court available for guests to use, adding to the overall experience. Overall, my stay at Ascott Raffles City Chongqing was exceptional in every way, and I would highly recommend it to anyone visiting the city.

The hotel's location is super convenient, right near all the major shopping malls in Guanyinqiao, making dining and shopping incredibly easy. I've lost count of how many times I've stayed here. Even the expats from my company, who used to prefer serviced apartments, now choose this hotel thanks to my recommendation. This time, Front Desk Agent Xiao Zhang was very enthusiastic and even upgraded my room type, which was a pleasant surprise. Thumbs up! And I have to mention, the hotel breakfast is truly amazing with such a wide variety of choices, it's almost overwhelming!

The front desk staff, Xiao Huang and Xiao Cheng, were incredibly warm and efficient; they even helped with an upgrade. We had a very satisfying stay! It was a great check-in experience. I'd definitely recommend this hotel; even though it's an older property, you can tell they do regular maintenance.

This stay was absolutely fantastic, I have to give it a five-star review! From the moment we stepped into the lobby, we felt a warm, home-like atmosphere. The front desk staff were incredibly friendly and smiled genuinely, making check-in swift and efficient. They even thoughtfully introduced us to the hotel's facilities and recommended nearby dining options. The room exceeded our expectations! It was clean, tidy, and spacious, with soft and comfortable bedding that instantly made us feel relaxed. The attention to detail was excellent, from the high-speed Wi-Fi and smart curtains to the separated wet and dry areas in the bathroom, all of which significantly enhanced our comfort. We slept wonderfully, the soundproofing was excellent, ensuring we weren't disturbed at all. The hotel's location is also superb, making it very convenient for both getting around and shopping. If you're looking for a nice place to stay in the Jiefangbei Pedestrian area of Chongqing, this is a great location. The hotel is located on the 20th floor, which is something we were not used to, but it seems normal for buildings to have multiple hotels here. Just a heads up if that's something you've never experienced before. The staff is very helpful and spoke enough English to make communication easy. For more difficult conversations, translator apps work just fine. Laundry is free, just pack your dirty clothes and hand it to the front desk. They'll be ready the next day and neatly folded. The wifi is also one of the better ones we've experienced on our trip.

Amenities: The room featured Chinese-style furniture with ample space, and the bathroom was quite large. Cleanliness: Very clean, with hand soap and hand cream provided. Environment: Located at the entrance of Jiefangbei, it's a 200-meter walk to Jiefangbei itself. There's also a department store and a Yonghui supermarket nearby where you can buy local specialties. Taxis are easily accessible right outside. From here, you can take Line 2 directly to the zoo, and you'll even pass through Liziba Station, which is a very interesting experience. Service: The front desk staff, especially the young lady, was incredibly enthusiastic. We were traveling with a child, and she proactively offered an extra quilt and even brought us fruit. The nearby hot pot restaurant she recommended was delicious, and she was always ready to answer any questions. This was the most welcoming Mercure hotel we've ever stayed at.

The hotel might seem a little aged at first but the service and interior still wow from the first moment you step in. The room I booked was clean and spacious. The housekeeping did their job excellent. They have everything inside you could ask; washing detergent, iron, laundry rack, etc. Front desk was superb; fast check-in, great advice when asking for recommendations, and efficient when asking for items like extra water. The robot was a great thing to have as all my delivery are sent to my doorstep. All in all, this is a 10/10 solid stay. Oh, the breakfast have a great great selection and taste great too. And there is vending machine in lobby if u need any last minute groceries or even a wake up coffee. Thank you.

The staff at Indition Hotel are superb! They are very keen to make your stay comfortable, attending to your needs immediately, and even giving u updates on the weather conditions first thing in the mornings! Special mention to Jing Jing, Wen Wen & Yan Yan for their attentiveness. It is in a great location, just across the street from raffles city. Views on the 38th floor is stunning. The hotel room however needs some proper touch ups. The workmanship of the room is poor, the floor tiles in the shower area are popping out, the silicone on the taps badly plastered. It definitely looks like a cheap job by the contractors. It is a pity that with great staff and good views & location, the price is not what is to be expected - the poor workmanship of the room. The shampoo and shower gel could be better quality too.Otherwise it will be perfect.

The hygiene and soundproofing were excellent. At the Executive Lounge, the freshly prepared noodles and 'hao'er yu' (a local fish dish) are a must-try, and breakfast offers a great variety. However, I'd recommend avoiding the Chinese restaurant. Lizhimmen Station (light rail) is only 360 meters away, but beware of heavy traffic during peak hours if you plan to take a taxi. Traveling solo to Chongqing, I once again chose the chain luxury hotel, Kempinski. During check-in, I mentioned to the front desk that I hoped to have a view of the Mountain City. The front desk kindly arranged a high-floor room for me with mountain views and a glimpse of the river. Although the decor is a bit dated, it still maintains a five-star standard, and the price is reasonable. I particularly want to praise the hotel's mattress and pillows; they're quite similar to Westin's Heavenly Bed, ensuring a great night's sleep that leaves you refreshed for the next day. The hotel is located in Nan'an, which isn't as overly commercialized as Yuzhong District. Plus, there are many excellent hotpot restaurants right next to the hotel. Getting around by taxi is easy, and thankfully, taxi fares in Chongqing are quite reasonable. The turndown service was very thoughtful; they even specially filled the ice bucket with ice. My only minor gripe is that, aside from the complimentary bottled water, everything else in the room comes with a price tag, giving the impression that the room itself is a showroom for sale.

Niccolo Chongqing: Pinnacle of Luxury Above the Clouds My trip to Chongqing truly peaked thanks to the Niccolo! Tucked away at the very top of IFS, this hotel genuinely redefines ”luxury above the clouds. The room's 270-degree floor-to-ceiling windows are absolutely breathtaking, offering panoramic views of the Two Rivers and Three Shores. At night, as the city lights up, you can lie in bed and soak in the dazzling cityscape of Chongqing—an unforgettable experience. The lounge on the 62nd floor is another hidden gem for views; sipping a specially crafted cocktail while gazing at the river makes the city's hustle and bustle simply melt away into the background. But the true highlight of this experience was undoubtedly the service from our butler, Delancy. From adding us on WeChat to confirm our needs before check-in, to her incredibly prompt responses whenever we had a request—yet never being intrusive—her perfectly balanced attentiveness added a warm touch to the luxurious stay. The location is also unbeatable. It's incredibly convenient to walk to IFS for shopping, and a taxi ride to Hongyadong or Jiefangbei takes no more than twenty minutes. From the facilities to the service, there wasn't a single flaw. Next time I'm in Chongqing, I will definitely choose this hotel again, and I especially look forward to seeing Delancy!

The hotel boasts an excellent location with convenient access to transportation. The room's layout is well-proportioned and smartly partitioned, offering good privacy. I booked a garden view room and was delighted to catch the sunrise from it in the mornings. After making the reservation, the guest services team proactively reached out to me, meticulously inquiring about my check-in preferences and even arranging pillows precisely to my liking. The concierge service was incredibly thorough and helpful, assisting with luggage and parking. The front desk staff were also very considerate; when our room wasn't quite ready at check-in, they thoughtfully ushered us to the lobby lounge to wait and even provided complimentary beverages. Breakfast was extensive and delicious. If you're fortunate enough to snag a window seat, you can enjoy a lovely outdoor view and perhaps spot some birds through the glass. The room's minibar was well-stocked, not just with soft drinks, but also with unique Chongqing local snacks. A capsule coffee machine was provided, along with the thoughtful addition of disposable coffee cups. Room amenities were ample, and they even offered a personalized bath menu. I opted for the lemon bath, which included fresh lemon slices and salt – I regret forgetting to take a picture!

We arrived at the hotel and received a wonderfully warm welcome from Mr. Allen Fung. He even added me on WeChat for easy communication, which was a thoughtful touch. Unfortunately, when I entered the room, the light tube flickered in an unsettling way. Mr. Fung immediately sought out a technician to resolve the issue, but unfortunately, they were unable to fix it. In a gesture of genuine concern, he upgraded our room, which we truly appreciated. What stood out to me even more was how Mr. Fung personally helped us move our luggage to the new room. He consistently checked in on us throughout our stay until we checked out, making sure we were comfortable. We drove around near the hotel for half an hour, and when we asked Xiah at almost 10 PM where to charge, she responded instantly – thumbs up! Very professional! As we were leaving, we met Feng from the concierge, who was incredibly helpful with our luggage. Overall, it was a great stay, and we would definitely consider staying here again.

The location is super convenient! You can snap photos of the famous Raffles City right downstairs, making for great shots in no time. The staff were quite friendly and helpful. There's also a car park, and paying 30-40 for a whole day is acceptable. Overall, the hotel's amenities are great for a family trip. The room felt new and had a good wet and dry separation, with the shower and toilet being separate. My only suggestion for improvement would be to add a trash can under the sink for more convenience.

Choosing this hotel was the best decision of my Chongqing trip! It's located right in the heart of Jiefangbei, an absolutely fantastic location. You can walk to the 81 Food Street in just a few minutes and feast on all sorts of local delicacies. It's a 15-minute walk to Hongyadong to enjoy the stunning night views, and only 8 minutes to Shancheng 18 Steps to experience old Chongqing charm. The Light Rail Station is just over 800 meters away, making transportation super convenient. The hotel lobby is spacious and bright, and the lounge area is very comfortably furnished, perfect for waiting or relaxing. The staff are warm, professional, and not only patiently answered all our questions but also proactively helped us optimize our travel itinerary – they were incredibly thoughtful. Our room was spotless, spacious, and bright, offering an excellent stay experience. The hotel can also arrange discounted tickets for the Two Rivers cruise. I highly recommend this place to anyone visiting Chongqing!

My friends who've been to Chongqing recommended Xinsan, and I booked it because I was worried my parents wouldn't be used to staying away from home. Also, based on the description, there's a fridge, which is essential for my mom's insulin. Xinsan's location is excellent, right in Jiefangbei. My parents, being older, don't like spending money on taxis, and if the hotel were far from the attractions, they'd spend half the day traveling. So Xinsan was a perfect fit, and I booked it immediately after checking it out. This was their first trip without me, so I was a bit worried. The front desk staff at Xinsan were absolutely wonderful and took great care of them. My mom sheepishly mentioned at the front desk that the items in the room were too smart for her to figure out. The front desk staff immediately sent over detailed instructions and video tutorials for the washing machine, microwave, TV, and air conditioning. They even went to the room and demonstrated how to use each item for my parents. It was incredibly thoughtful. Hotels are getting more advanced these days, and many things are different from what we have at home. The front desk patiently explained everything to us, which was truly heartwarming, and they didn't seem bothered at all! The room's facilities are all high-tech, from premium brands. Even the toilet doesn't require manual flushing; it has a remote control, which is very hygienic! I also noticed that Xinsan has two-bedroom, three-bed units. We'll definitely be back next time.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Where's the best area to stay in Chongqing for a first-time visitor?

For first-time visitors, staying in the city centre around Jiefangbei or in the Jiangbei District (Guanyinqiao) is ideal. Jiefangbei is highly central—within walking distance to Hongyadong and the Yangtze River Cable Car, with metro lines 1, 2, and 6 all nearby. Guanyinqiao offers better value for money, direct access via metro lines 3 and 9, and plenty of authentic local eateries.
  • Which neighbourhoods in Chongqing are best for night views?

Nanbin Road along the southern bank of the Yangtze River offers the most spectacular views of the Yuzhong Peninsula, Hongyadong, and Raffles City. Rooms on higher floors are highly recommended. Alternatively, the riverside areas around Jiefangbei combine dazzling cityscapes with riverside charm.
  • Where can I find affordable accommodation in a convenient location?

The Guanyinqiao business district offers excellent value with great transport and amenities. Another good option is Shapingba near Three Gorges Square—close to Ciqikou Ancient Town and several universities, with plenty of budget-friendly hotels and guesthouses.
