The room was clean and tidy, and all the facilities were relatively new. Being on a high floor, the view from the window was excellent. The breakfast was also very diverse. It's super convenient, with a food street and a bar street just a 5-minute walk away. As soon as I checked in, a staff member offered me tea as a welcome, and the service attitude was perfect. Location: Situated inside Chongqing's landmark 'Grand Sail' building, directly above Raffles City and with direct metro access. Within walking distance to Chaotianmen, Hongyadong, Jiefangbei, and the pier. There are three hotels in the 'Sail' building: InterContinental Raffles City, Hotel Indigo, and Ascott. Ascott is wholly owned by CapitaLand, the developer of Raffles City, so its quality is undoubtedly top-notch.
Facilities: Positioned as a serviced apartment, the public areas are compact yet comfortable and practical. The lobby offers complimentary tea and fresh flowers. A significant portion of the public space is dedicated to guests. The gym is well-equipped with at least two treadmills, ellipticals, and bikes, as well as a full set of resistance machines. There's also a yoga room with river views, comparable to a small commercial gym. It provides hot/cold water, sanitizing wipes, towels, and even headphones with sterilized covers. The swimming pool was closed during our two-day stay, so we hope to check it out next time.
Below the hotel is Raffles City's urban garden, leading directly to a river-view platform – a peaceful oasis amidst the bustle.
Room: We were fortunate to be upgraded to a two-bedroom suite, so spacious it was astounding. It features two bedrooms and two bathrooms, with a bathtub in the master. It includes a washer and dryer, perfect for families. The kitchen is fully equipped with a built-in microwave, oven, refrigerator, dishwasher, and range hood. A complete set of dishes and cookware is provided. The facilities are excellently maintained; the microwave and oven looked almost unused.
The room offers a pillow menu and abundant storage space.
Due to its unique location, Ascott's rooms offer either unbeatable river views, stunning city views, or like ours, views of both.
Service: Special thanks to Miss Genny at the front desk, who was incredibly patient during our check-in, attentively asked about our needs, and efficiently arranged our room. We arrived early, intending only to store our luggage, but to our surprise, we received our room key immediately. We are very grateful.
All hotel staff were exceptionally proactive, friendly, and helpful – carrying luggage, greeting us upon sight, making us feel right at home. The staff member on the ground floor was also wonderful, assisting with getting in and out of cars/moving luggage and patiently giving directions.

The highlight was the restaurant on the second floor. It was good, cleaner and more hygienic than places outside. The iced tofu pudding with honey was the best I've ever tasted, definitely a plus. The waitresses were also nice and quite dedicated, I must say. However, the bathtub water wasn't cold or hot. Even after a equipment update, the overall feel was a bit old. It's not far from Guanyin Bridge, and even closer to Jiantian Street. Hmm, I'd give it a 4.7 out of 5.From€64

Our flight was delayed, and we arrived at the hotel in the early morning. The male front desk staff on duty was fluent in English and very kind, which made our late check-in smooth.
The hotel room furniture and amenities are a bit dated, but overall they were kept clean.
However, we had a very unpleasant experience at the fitness center. After using the swimming pool, we tried to use the spin dryer in the changing room, but it didn't work. When we asked the fitness staff for help, they rudely dismissed the issue and bluntly said it was impossible without even checking.
Fortunately, when we inquired at the 1st-floor lobby, a staff member named William helped us deal with this issue. He personally accompanied us back to the fitness center and thoughtfully arranged for us to use the staff dryer. We are deeply grateful for William’s professional and kind service.
That being said, the hotel needs to address a few operational issues:
The mini spin dryer in the changing room should be repaired or replaced promptly.
The senior staff member at the fitness center showed a poor professional attitude —shirked responsibilities by pushing tasks onto a subordinate who claimed that day was her first day working at the hotel fitness center (believe it or not), and was impolite to guests.

I absolutely loved the decor style of the Sheraton Chongqing Hotel. It's elegantly European, and from the moment I stepped in, I felt like I'd entered a palace – luxurious and grand. The hotel's location is convenient; it only took 30 minutes to get there from the airport with no traffic, and getting around by taxi is very easy. The room decor is opulent. I read reviews saying the hotel was a bit old, but it's exceptionally well-maintained and looks like it's only 5 or 6 years old. The hotel service is excellent; the front desk staff are very warm and promptly followed up on all my check-in requests. Even for a guest like me with many demands, they were incredibly patient and helped arrange every single thing. This is highly commendable. Visited with family, had been wanting to come here for a long time. Before arrival, the hotel's guest butler, Yannie, proactively added me on WeChat and introduced the hotel. Upon alighting, our luggage was directly sent to the room. We booked a suite this time, facing Nanbin Road, with Chaotianmen where the two rivers meet to the right. The high-altitude river view was superb. The kids absolutely loved it. The room was very clean; I used a white cloth to wipe the railing in front of the panoramic window, and it was spotless [strong emoji]. Booking a suite included afternoon tea at Bar 62, which offered an unbeatable view of the two rivers converging – what we ate didn't even matter anymore. I left my room key there and when we returned after dinner, it was handed back to us exactly as I left it [strong emoji]. They also provided welcome fruit, a handwritten welcome card, red wine, and dessert. As for the summer special drink and ice cream scoop, we didn't get a chance to try them [facepalm emoji]. This hotel is located right across from Bayi Square and is also close to the subway. Stepping out, you're on Bayi Road Food Street, where you can find all sorts of local specialty snacks. The staff were very warm and attentive. When we arrived, they immediately offered us refreshing lemon and plum juice from the hotel's self-service, which was incredibly crisp and tasty. Housekeeping was prompt; they even helped us with laundry while we were out exploring. Food delivery riders can bring orders directly to your room. Honestly, if it's not too hot, a short walk will get you to a ton of great food options. You can easily walk to Jiefangbei and Hongyadong from here, and to get to Liziba, you can take Line 2. My biggest regret during this trip to Chongqing was choosing the InterContinental. Before checking in, I'd already seen many online reviews stating that the InterContinental's service couldn't compare to another hotel, but I really dislike Chinese-style decor, so I opted for the InterContinental.
I booked an Executive River View room. After making the reservation, I proactively added the hotel's WeChat contact provided by Ctrip. I informed them that it was my husband's birthday on the check-in day and hoped they could help with some decorations. I also mentioned I would order a bouquet of flowers and asked if they could sign for it and place it in the room.
The hotel staff informed me they would decorate and arrange for a small cake. They even thoughtfully asked for our arrival time, which I confirmed with my expected arrival time, expressing my anticipation and gratitude.
Typically, in other star-rated hotels, a room upgrade is standard practice if rooms are available and the guest's ID matches the check-in date. However, this didn't happen. I can understand this, as upgrades are extra perks from the hotel, not an entitlement. But when I entered the room and saw that the supposed cake was missing, replaced only by a fruit plate with four oranges, I was truly astonished.
For a moment, I wondered if I had booked an All Seasons hotel for 270 RMB a night, instead of the InterContinental for 2700 RMB a night... I immediately contacted the hotel via WeChat. Their reply was that these were seasonal fruits, and since I had executive lounge privileges, I could go to the lounge for afternoon tea where there would be plenty of fruits...
So, was I implying I'd never eaten fruit before... and was I trying to take advantage of the hotel?
And that day, I checked Ctrip, and the same Executive River View King Room was only 2500+ RMB 🙃.
Of course, after I expressed my complaint, they immediately offered to prepare and send a new fruit plate. They also explained that the cake hadn't been delivered because they didn't know our arrival time and were worried it might spoil, so they would deliver it together later.
I finally received the 'normal' fruit plate that I had seen other guests receive on other social media platforms, as shown in picture 2...
It turns out it wasn't that they couldn't do it, but that they weren't willing to.
After speaking with other guests who had stayed at this hotel, I learned that the InterContinental's tradition is to offer perks based on membership tier.
I understand that guests who spend more can indeed receive some privileges, but is it too arrogant and transactional to differentiate based on a welcome fruit plate? They could surely offer high-spending guests a better experience through room upgrades or other means, so why choose to 'cost down' on the very first thing a guest encounters upon entering the room?
Honestly, the cake was good; sweet but not cloying.
The Eggs Benedict at the executive lounge were highly praised, and other food items were also commendable.
And the WeChat contact person, after the initial unpleasantness, was responsive and provided thoughtful service in all other aspects.
However, this one incident completely shattered all my expectations for the InterContinental and made my first day in Chongqing an unhappy one.
I was so annoyed that I wanted to write a complaint email on the first day, but all the service staff I encountered – from the front desk to the lounge and even housekeeping – were friendly and greeted me warmly whenever I saw them. I found this quite contradictory and hard to understand.
Perhaps it's just the hotel's long-standing tradition.

The best decision I made on my return trip to Chongqing was staying at this high-rise hotel! The view truly blew me away.

This is an older five-star hotel, and my stay was just average. They strictly enforce the 3 PM check-in time. We arrived in Chongqing in the morning and couldn't check in, so we stored our luggage and went out. We came back around 1 PM, asked the front desk, but still couldn't check in. They said our deluxe suite had a late checkout and housekeeping hadn't finished cleaning it. We had to wait until 3 PM, so we had no choice but to wait in the hotel lobby. It felt quite rigid, without consideration for basic guest needs. After we checked in, one of the two bathrooms in the suite had a broken overhead shower. There were no welcome fruits, and the hotel didn't have a room service robot, so we had to go downstairs ourselves to pick up our takeout, which was inconvenient. I can only say its advantage is its excellent location; it's very convenient to get anywhere from the hotel. The doorman helped with our luggage once, so that's a plus.From€88

I thoroughly enjoyed staying at this property. Everyone was so nice and kind. The service was top- notch. The amenities were plenty and easy accessible. A few extras that made everything worth it were the full- sized refrigerator, with freezer, the washing machine (for which they provided soap as well), dish washer, stove top, towel drier ( in the washroom) and full sized closet. The view was so beautiful and calming as well. Everything about this room was just so nice and exactly what I needed.
I didn’t realize how perfect the location was in relation to almost everything that I wanted to see. When I figured that out, I just got up every day and walked to everything that I needed or wanted to see. It was extremely close to a lot of restaurants, malls, local shops and smaller attractions. I was less than a 10 -15 minute walk to Raffles City Shopping Center where there is a 5 story mall, Movie theatre, roof top attraction with the swing, SKY WALK and also the river front park with amazing views. Same distance for Hongyadong, the viewing platform, the Qiansemen Bridge- if you wanted to walk across the bridge at night- I HIGHLY RECOMMEND! There is so much to see and experience between the hotel and these attractions. Your days will be filled with fun and adventure.

The hotel is located in Nanping, which is actually quite convenient. It's just a taxi ride across the Yangtze River Bridge, or a 5-minute walk from Metro Line 3. It's an older hotel, but generally clean, though there is a slight musty smell. The suites come in two types: '20' offers a slight river view, while '10', which I initially got, had virtually no view. After speaking to the front desk, they moved me to a '20' suite on a higher floor the next day, which was excellent service. The room also had cute little bears. The hotel breakfast was just okay; for a picky eater like myself, a German brand hotel not offering pretzel bread for breakfast is something I think could be improved. The package also included a complimentary beer, which was very refreshing on a hot summer day. Overall, it offers great value for money. I stayed at this hotel for six nights. It's a five-star hotel, and the lobby, hallways, and even the six elevators are quite grand. However, being over ten years old, it does show its age a bit. I stayed in a duplex room, which was very spacious and satisfying in terms of size. What surprised me though was that in a two-bathroom setup, the downstairs bathroom didn't have a shower. The upstairs bathroom had a good wet and dry separation. But the shower drain was very slow; the water would quickly rise above your ankles when showering. I even changed rooms because of this, but the new room had the same issue.
The room provided welcome fruit and drinks, and there was also an afternoon tea. Breakfast was served until at least 10 AM, I think even until 12 PM. There was also a refrigerator in the room.
The hotel breakfast wasn't lacking in variety, but I always felt the quality wasn't very high. The hot dishes in the hot food section were mostly vegetarian, with only an occasional dish like minced pork with long beans appearing daily.From€44

Staying at this hotel was such a comfortable experience during my trip! The hotel amenities were really thoughtful. The breakfast had a great variety and tasted delicious, and they even offered a complimentary breakfast for my child. The slim front desk attendant was incredibly kind and even gave me a foot bath, which instantly relieved my travel fatigue. It was truly warm and considerate service. I was on a business trip to Chongqing and had a friend book a popular influencer hotel for me. I couldn't stand it after one night. I switched to this hotel, but only booked two days, worried about the same situation. However, after checking in, I found both the hotel environment and cleanliness to be excellent. The hotel gym, in particular, had new equipment and great service, making me want to work out every day. I ended up extending my stay for another two days. It's a very good hotel, and I'll consider staying here again next time I'm in Chongqing. I also want to mention that this hotel is next to Changjiang International, so the views are especially good, and the night view is also excellent. The key is that there are many young people checking in for photos, which is quite a sight to see every day when coming and going. The only downside is that the doormen in the lobby lack service awareness. There were no measures to store umbrellas on rainy days, and they didn't bother to help with food deliveries, just telling guests to find the front desk, as if it had nothing to do with them. I hope this can be improved next time I visit.From€49

Overall, my stay was fantastic! The hotel has a grand ambiance, and the room was spotlessly clean with really high-end, easy-to-use facilities. Shirley provided attentive and friendly service. This hotel is all around great... great location, staff, cleanliness, and service. Some tips to new visitors: the hotel lobby is on the 15th floor. 1st floor will bring out to the ground level floor across from the park and easy entrance to the shopping plaza. Only a few minute walk through the park and you can see the giant chili pepper statue. Also nearby is a huge 6 floor shopping mall with 2 full floors of restaurants. The LG floor will put you out to the street level on the other side of the hotel. Many small places to eat and 24 hour convenience stores easily accessible. For those of you who like ice for their drinks, you can get ice in the lobby. The buffet breakfast is well worth the extra. Many items to choose from and the menu changes daily 6:30 am to 9:30 am. Laundry washing and drying machines are available and you can get complimentary washing detergent at the lobby desk. I can't say anything negative about this hotel at all. Let’s start with positives . Location - could not be much better , close to the Folklore buildings which is the highlight of my trip . Reception team really listened to my request for a room away from noise . Very good communication with front desk . Very efficient, friendly and helpful . Room itself is functional, good aircon. Nice breakfast too . I feel hotel owners should may be invest some effort into making it a little more maintained. On pictures it looks much better than in real life . A massive mould stain in the bathroom ceiling , as well as damaged floors . Very slow lifts . But over all i slept wellFrom€24

Definitely not recommended on WARM DAYS because the hotel will turn off AC completely. I stayed at this hotel from 5/8 to 5/11, In-room HVAC only worked on daytime when outdoor temperature reached about 30 degrees, in room temperature was cooling down and comfortable enough. However, the hotel shut down AC system at night because outdoor temperature is not hot enough, that leading to in room temperature went back to 27 degrees, I got totally sleepless. Understood the hotel tried to save money on electricity, but AC system is the one of basic amenity systems and should not shut down the mostly of the days.
Moldy grout, moldy caulking are all around the shower, the picture attached. Non adjustable shower head with fixed holder need upgraded. That shows lack of the maintenance for rooms.
Room attendant provided great service she could and made me feel comfortable and welcome.
