Overall had a good experience. Staff were very friendly and helpful, and luggage storage was solid. By far the best commons room I’ve seen in a hostel across Japan, where everyone was very social and friendly. One of the best places to meet fellow solo travellers.
Bottom bunk had great storage underneath the bed but limited headroom. Also have to pay for amenities, which many other hostels provide for free. While cheap, the principle bothered me.

This was my first time staying here. The staff member who helped me was incredibly friendly and kind. We had a family member in a wheelchair, and they welcomed us warmly. Thanks to them, we had a very comfortable stay in the family room, even though it was just a room-only booking. Although we drove this time, the hotel is close to the station and surrounded by many shops, which was very convenient. Parking right in front of the entrance was a huge help, though it requires prior arrangement. The room itself was simple, cozy, and I absolutely loved it. I'd definitely like to stay here again if I have the chance. Thank you!

blinshikiStayed for just one night so I don’t have very much to say except the location is fine - just a little walk from the station. The staff was very lovely and kind and spoke great english. We actually talked a little about my stay and she recommended me a few spots to buy food as I wasn’t able to book breakfast the next day. Super sweet!
Onomichi isn’t on everyones itinerary, but I really enjoyed it and was happy I booked this place!

Awesome if you’d like to experience staying in a traditional Japanese home — no shoes inside, sliding doors, futons over tatami, and even an inner courtyard. Everything was clean, and our room had its own shower (though the toilet is shared).
The hosts were very welcoming and spoke fluent English. We also appreciated the three bottled waters provided, something we didn’t get at our previous hotels. The kitchen is well equipped.
The location is just okay — about a 10-minute walk to the train/tram/ferry station. Along the way, there aren’t any shops or restaurants until you reach the station area.

The place was quite clean, and the service was excellent. Laundry is super affordable at 200 yen, significantly cheaper than other hostels which typically charge 300-500 yen. They also have a dryer, so rainy days aren't an issue. The only drawback is that it's a wooden, detached house (not reinforced concrete), so the sound insulation isn't the best. Guests need to be mindful of their footsteps; walking heavily could lead to thumping noises audible downstairs, potentially causing complaints. Furthermore, showering is generally not permitted after midnight, as the sound of running water can disturb those on lower floors. Also, guests are required to make their own beds (sheets, pillowcase, duvet cover) upon arrival, and strip them off, placing them in the designated laundry basket upon check-out. If you're unwilling to do this or find making your own bed a hassle, you might want to consider booking elsewhere.

The owner was a very friendly couple, and it was a space that made me smile naturally. The facilities were very beautiful and it was a hostel that I wanted to come again. The pork burger for breakfast was also delicious! It seems that overseas people often stay.
It's a bit of a walk from the station, but there are supermarkets and convenience stores nearby, and there is a public bath, so I think it's the best without complaint.

Incredible traditional Japanese house, newly renovated with everything you need for comfort. The kitchen is extremely well-stocked for us to prepare our own meals. The garden is beautiful and you can enjoy ocean view and sunrise from the house, there’s even a blooming Cherry Blossom tree in the garden. Just a tip to keep the sliding doors closed properly because mosquitoes do get in. Couldn’t have asked for a better stay.

It was a small, cute dormitory. Maybe you can feel a little cottage-like with a wood-like wall? There is also a room for women only, and the pass code is required for entering the room, so I was able to spend my time with peace of mind even if I traveled alone.

We arrived by bike.
The location was good for us, however there is nothing around. You may go to a good restaurant which it is 2 km far away.
The host is very friendly and he will explain you everything in English.
The place is a traditional Japanese accommodation, but it is old and cleaning has to be improved.
The view is great and the place very peaceful.
