Peaks of Otter Lodge
4.3/5102 Reviews
We have loved the Peaks of Otter Lodge for a quiet getaway for many years. The room was very comfortable with good amenities. We first started coming in the '1980s and '90s when the Lodge offered a winter special featuring breakfast and dinner included in the price of the stay. Back then, the food at the Lodge's restaurant was prepared and cooked on site, and the restaurant was very popular and well-known around the area for its excellent food. In recent years, however, ownership of the restaurant changed and the food has never been the same. The food tastes like it's prepackaged and merely heated up at the restaurant, and the menu prices are very high for the quality of the food being offered. In spite of the sub-par food, the wait staff was excellent, and the dining room offers a beautiful view of the lake and Sharp Top Mountain. Overall, I recommend staying at the lodge if you're wanting a peaceful respite in a beautiful setting. But you may want to make the 15 minute trip to the nearby town of Bedford for your meals.
Econo Lodge Marion I-81
3.4/511 Reviews
We stayed at the Econo Lodge in Marion, Virginia for a couple of nights in July 2023. The hotel is dated, but well-maintained. Our King room was very clean. It had a couch, a refrigerator, and a microwave oven. We were placed on the back-side of the building, which seems to be the non-smoking section. We didn’t hear any highway noise, but we did hear the freight trains roll by at around 5:30 AM every morning. The back side of the building faces the train tracks, which are only about 450 feet away. The hotel serves coffee and packaged honey buns in a small dining area adjoining the front desk. There are numerous fast food restaurants serving breakfast near the hotel. We recommend this Econo Lodge for its good value and clean accommodations.
Econo Lodge Little Creek
3.7/570 Reviews
The Econo Lodge in Little Creek is by far one of the cleanest, most comfortable hotels in the area! My husband and I travel to the Norfolk/Virginia Beach area about once a month for work. This is def my favorite place to stay! Bed/sheets were super clean & fresh, floors were spotless, and bathroom was perfect! These rooms are very spacious and homey feeling. The staff is extra friendly and helpful and the location is peaceful. They serve a nice little breakfast in the Lobby but if you want something different, there’s a Starbucks (def a necessity lol), a Bar n Grill, and many other food/necessities within walking distance. The front parking lot is a little small but there is lots of extra parking in the back which is helpful if needed. It’s a very short drive to the beach!! You could even walk it if you don’t mind walking about a 1/2 mile but it’s like a 2 min drive and parking is free. The Cova Brewing Co and Beach park are close by! Now for my favorite part THE BEACH!!! The Chesapeake Bay beach area (beach park) by this hotel is one of the most beautiful in the area. We enjoy it more than Virginia Beach! There are beautiful rocks lined down the middle and little waves so you can relax and enjoy your time in the water. It’s not overcrowded like Virginia Beach and everyone is very friendly. Out of all the times we’ve visited this area, my husband and I both agree WE HAVE THE BEST TIME when we stay at The Econo Lodge Little Creek!

Econo Lodge Civic Center

This review is for Econo Lodge in Martinsville, VA. We stayed here because we were going to the Martinsville race. The site said it was 3 miles away from the track which it wasn’t it was six but it was still an easy shot. The room was very outdated; the carpet was disgusting, one of the chairs was stained with who knows what, the covers had cigarette burns in them but they did smell freshly laundered. The water ran continually in the tub & there wasn’t great water pressure. The hair dryer blew up. We were happy each time with the desk staff. The continental breakfast was normal & the apples were fresh & tasty!
Massanutten Resort by TripForth

Stayed in 4 bedroom woodstone. It was great to have the two separate, yet together units, for our two families traveling together. Sure, there were a few things on the condo that needed some attention but nothing that ruined the overall trip. We went in the fall and colors were amazing. Be aware that most things at the resort have fall hours so plan your week accordingly. We found plenty to do at the resort as well as it was easy to get to Shenandoah, so we did that a couple of days-and found family friendly hikes for five kids ages 3-8.

Something has changed at this property...change of ownership or change of hospitality philosophy. I have stayed here for years with no issues. This stay was a trainwreck. While front desk staff was apologetic, property owner, who was also present, looked at me like I was crazy when i went to front desk to complain about the internet. Was dismissive, said he would restart the router, but service continued spotty, slow and would kick you off sporadically. While I am not a computer expert, I am relatively knowledgeable and former programmer. I had 4 devices with me, one a brand new dell laptop, and older dell laptop, ipad and iphone. internet was equally terrible on all four, extremely slow and unstable. Internet continued like this until i checked out the next day about 11am. Also, room had no smoke alarm, lights were burnt out over the mirror at the lavatory and there was no note pad or pen. I didn't even attempt to check out the continental breakfast. Previously when I stayed at this property, everything went well...it's not the hilton, but it was clean and everything worked. Be forewarned.
Econo Lodge at Military Circle

The staff was extremely friendly and very helpful. I experience no every time I stay here. The rooms are clean for the most part but sometimes you might not have pressure in the shower. All in all it is a very great environment to stay plus there's several restaurants and Walmart near there.
Econo Lodge Historic Area

My husband and I stayed here recently for our trip to Colonial Williamsburg. The convenience to the visitor's center can't be beat! It was very close to Colonial Williamsburg and the Merchant Square area. It was also pretty convenient to Jamestown and Yorktown. The people working at this motel were all very pleasant and friendly. The shower in our room was in bad condition and the shower curtain had black mildew stains on it. The room showed signs of plumbing leaks in the past and poor repair jobs. The fan in the bathroom was very dusty! They had a sign telling us that there was no breakfast - only coffee. However, my husband found that the coffee machine didn't really work. There was a coffee maker in the room, but there was no creamer so we didn't use it. Their ice machine said not to use it and to top things off we found a cockroach in our room. The fridge in the room was a very nice size and there was a microwave for reheating leftovers which was very nice! We are not usually picky travelers, but this place left a lot to be desired.
