How should I describe this place? I think there might be more foreigners here, and it feels a bit stuffy. However, it has a rooftop with a washing machine, a laundry room actually, and the rooftop is quite nicely designed. But the room itself is indeed a bit stuffy, and the cleanliness is acceptable. As for the facilities, they are quite old already.

Regarding Backpackers' Ten Years (Chengdu No.1 store), even though it's been open for quite some years, I really have to give it high praise – the facilities are so meticulously maintained that you can't tell it's an old establishment at all. What I remember most fondly are the front desk staff. I've stayed at many Backpackers' Ten Years hostels, but the service at the Chengdu No.1 store definitely ranks first. They thoughtfully offered drinking water during check-in, which was excellent service. The next day, I casually asked about good food nearby, and the front desk lady drew me a hand-drawn map. This made me extend my stay again and again, simply unwilling to leave. I've already written a lot in my previous review, but I just can't help but want to write a little more.
The atmosphere at the hostel's small bar at night is also fantastic. As an introvert, I was initially worried it might be awkward. But I found several single sofas tucked away in corners, perfect for curling up to listen to music and zone out. Across from me, an extroverted guy was already chatting animatedly and sharing drinks with people at the next table. The bartender occasionally brought over a special cocktail, saying it was for new friends to try. Whether you're an introvert or an extrovert, you'll find a comfortable spot here to feel completely at ease.
The best part is how perfectly it blends with the city of Chengdu itself. Outside the entrance, there are a few slightly askew camping chairs where you can bask in the afternoon sun. Passersby often mistake it for a roadside teahouse and sit down to rest their feet. One time, I was sitting there, and an old man next to me was having his ears cleaned, an auntie in front was selling 'douhua' (tofu pudding), and the hustle and bustle of Chunxi Road echoed in the distance – it felt less like I was staying in a hostel and more like I was genuinely living in the everyday life of Chengdu. In the evenings, I'd come back to see people wrapped in blankets lounging on the chairs, with a bowl of freshly bought 'bingfen' (ice jelly) beside them. This sense of laid-back ease is probably Chengdu at its best.
This place is like Chengdu itself: a little old, a little slow, but every detail exudes comfort. Perhaps it's this unhurried pace that makes it grow more charming with age. Next time I'm in Chengdu, I'll definitely stay here again – not for any other reason than for that sun-drenched camping chair by the entrance and the relaxed vibe of the bar.

I stayed in the female capsule room. The first floor environment was quite good, but once you get to the fourth floor, it's exactly as shown in the pictures – all metal grates. I initially had trouble finding my way; the front desk just told me to go straight out of the elevator. I only found out where to go after asking another guest. The room itself was pretty clean, but they didn't provide a toothbrush or toiletries during my stay. I didn't sleep too well; someone was making calls at 11 PM, and people were still showering at 2 or 3 AM. The room isn't soundproof at all, so you can hear everything clearly. However, the upside is having a small room to yourself, though it's only slightly more spacious than a regular 6 or 8-person dorm. Just a heads-up for anyone considering it: it's fine if you're just looking for a temporary stopover. After all, what more can you expect for this price?

I booked this hostel online for my trip, just to try it out, expecting a basic place to crash. To my surprise, it was much better than I anticipated! The beds were very clean and hygienic, and the bathroom was well-ventilated. Housekeeping cleaned promptly every day, and we even got a free bottle of mineral water. The large common area on the 6th floor was great for eating takeout – it was sunny, warm, and they even had folk music performances sometimes, creating a really lively atmosphere. A special shout-out to the front desk staff, who were incredibly friendly and enthusiastic. They even recommended some authentic local snacks nearby. It's only a few hundred meters from the subway station, and there are tons of snack stalls downstairs, many of which are open until the early hours. For me, this place offers a tranquil spot in a bustling area, perfectly quiet and peaceful. For just a few tens of yuan, such value for money is rare these days. I highly recommend everyone to come and give it a try!
The room is very spacious, and the location is excellent, right next to Lushan Mountain, perfect for a hike. There are plenty of food options nearby, and you can also order takeout. I heard the guesthouse offers shared meals, but I didn't participate. The atmosphere was quite nice, with lots of chatting and laughter. There's a pool table on the third floor, but no one to play with me! 😂 Downstairs, there's a very cute blue cat. When I came back from Silver Beach in the afternoon, it was all alone, so I petted it, and it immediately became very friendly. When I sat down, it came closer and rubbed against me. ☺️ It even jumped onto the table and nuzzled my shoulder! 😀

The courtyard, with bedding airing in the sun and flowers in bloom, truly felt like stepping back into the 1970s. The kind gentleman overseeing the place busily made up the bed with a soft, pure cotton plaid bedding set, gesturing to show it was freshly laundered. I deeply felt the warmth and kindness from both him and the owner, and consequently enjoyed a wonderfully relaxing night's sleep. I also visited Qianfo Cliff, Huangze Temple, and Jianmen Pass.

Location
On a long street with many restaurants and shops along the street and a self service ATM 5 -10 min walk away, including a small market in the mornings. It is a residential area, so you will most likely be the only foreigner, but people are extremely friendly and helpful, albeit the stares. The entrance faced the main road and was well lit. There is a flight of stairs that you will need to go up to get to the hostel area. If you have not tried hot pot, I would def recommend going to the Haichiniu Xianxianqie Beef Self service Hot Pot place which is around 5 mins walk down the road.
Quite far from the centre of the city however it is extremely easy to get to. During the day, there is a close proximity to the underground around 10 min walk, and there is a bus that I took from the city centre to right outside the hostel door where the bus stop was. If you are going through the night/early morning, it is extremely easy to catch a taxi through apps and it is quite cheap (around 40- 70 yen) and the road is very well lit. I felt completely safe in the area.
Service
Chu, the hostel aunty is warm and helpful, and gives you a sense of being home away from home. This included being made some home made dumplings to celebrate Golden Week which tasted delicious! She gave recommendations on places to go and made sure that I kept safe when out. As another review said, it can be a bit difficult communicating if you don't know Chinese as no English at the hostel or around the area is spoken and it can get quite draining/ mentally challenging at times for us, however Chu still tried her best to communicate regardless and I really appreciated the effort. To get around this and to make your stay more enjoyable, I would be sure to have WeChat set up prior so you can use the chat translator and have your google translate app out ready. (N.B Make sure you are able to set up the account and get the WeChat validation/security text through your HOME sim/data roaming as opposed to attempting to set up your account on your E-sim which won't work).
Facilities
It is a hostel that provides what you need. The things that took my British head some time to get around was the shower situation and the bed; namely the shower as it was more typical of an advanced bidet than standard shower. However, it was kept exceptionally clean after my first day there and I did my part of keeping it clean by bleaching it down. The bed is quite sturdy, typical of Chinese beds, so I would recommend bringing a blanket or similar to lay on the mattress so you can get to sleep. There is an upstairs area where you can use the washing machine or wash your clothes by hand and an open area to hang dry your clothes. Make sure you have some cash ready to give to Chu to use the machine. There is a vending machine that you can buy snacks for using the your WeChat pay. There is a seating area at the top where you can sit down and eat, smoke and chat. Once you are used to the different products used (i.e remembering the slippers, using the shower etc.), it becomes second nature and a very comfortable stay (funny story: I was sitting on a desk chair outside my room and being use to the chairs in the UK being quite heavy, I swung myself around and ended up falling off the chair LOL!).
Cleanliness
Like I mentioned above, the hostel is kept exceptionally clean and I had no concerns around hygiene once I got used to the shower situation. The cleanliness is what I can say was a huge benefit to the hostel. Considering how large the place is and Chu is the sole host, it is kept evidently very clean and Chu will be sure to tell you to tidy up too lool. People in China are not a fan of strong smells/ fragranced things so you will not smell bleach or such products but after seeing a storage room, I can assure they are being used!
The photos in the other reviews capture it exactly so you will not be surprised when coming to the place.

Located right next to Kangding Bus Station on the upper floors, it's super convenient for getting around. The hostel is entirely wooden, creating a very nice ambiance. There's a friendly chubby cat, and I even saw some foreign guests staying there. They have all the essentials like washing machines and showers, plus electric blankets on the beds. It's a really great youth hostel. I'd highly recommend it for solo travelers visiting Kangding.

Pretty good, and the location is excellent. It's situated right in the heart of the main commercial district, just a few minutes' walk to the subway station and attractions, so getting around is incredibly convenient. The room was larger than expected, the bed had just the right firmness for a great night's sleep, and the bathroom had a separate wet and dry area with a full set of toiletries and stable hot water. The front desk staff were very enthusiastic, answered all our questions, and even thoughtfully provided tips for exploring the area. Overall, the experience was fantastic and the value for money is unbeatable. Highly recommend to anyone traveling!

An incredibly comfortable travel experience! Highly recommended!
It was easy to find with plenty of signs, and the front desk staff were all so nice. They saw me from afar and came over to help with my luggage, patiently and thoroughly explaining the check-in process and answering all my questions. The cleanliness truly deserves high praise! The room was spotless with no strange odors, and the sheets and duvet covers had cute blue and white floral patterns, making it very cozy. There was a lovely night light that wasn't harsh on the eyes, and plenty of power outlets. The common areas were also very clean; I often saw staff mopping. The entire hostel was decorated in a refreshing blue and white, and had a comfortable large terrace. There's even a dedicated vanity room where you can use curling irons and such.
The atmosphere was well-maintained; everyone in the rooms was quiet. Smoking is prohibited indoors, making it friendly for those sensitive to smoke. Next time I come to Chengdu, this will definitely be my first choice. Highly, highly recommend!!!

GGuest UserThis hostel is an absolute must-visit in Chengdu!!! 😍 I was genuinely impressed. I arrived quite late, but the place was super easy to find right by the road, and the decor was really stylish. Downstairs, there's a cozy little bar with a great atmosphere – having a drink there in the evening was incredibly relaxing! Upstairs are the rooms, and the whole hallway was very clean, tidy, and quiet. The mattress was thick and comfortable 😌. There's a washing machine and dryer, plus a gym! They even gave me a free coffee in the morning ☕️. The value for money is amazing; I had a wonderful stay.

GGuest UserThe staff here are friendly and helpful. I had a room and it was fine. It looked onto the street and there was quite a lot of noise which I didn’t mind. But it would be nice if they had a thin white curtain to let the light in as it is not very private to the street.
The room was clean but when I dropped something under the small drawers retreaving it showed a lot of dust. The toilets on the 2nd floor smelt so bad that I used the ones on the 3 rd floor. This is a hostel and I do not expect much and it’s not bad but there is certainly room for improvement.
I did really like the location near the river and the monastery. Eat at the monastery, the food is amazing 👌

Jjasmine_233It's about a 12-minute walk to the Provincial Stadium, or a quick bike ride. There's a big, well-behaved dog at the hostel. It's a pretty traditional hostel with a strong local vibe, but the soundproofing on the doors isn't great. I'd recommend bringing earplugs; I slept really well with them in.

AAsisten LiburanThis hostel provides everything to make your stay enjoyable. With full facilities like towels, toiletries, free water, boardgames, a big common area, an outdoor garden - a patio with nice scenery, a semi bar, a quiet area for reading and studying also a big bonus, and more.
The location is also a few steps from a bus stop and tucked inside a parking area, so you will not hear the noisy street.
Too bad, few of my roommates ( local chinese, maybe students ? ) cant keep the room clean and organized with their stuff cluttered and make the room a little bit messy. However the whole area is clean and the staffs also friendly
With a very affordable rate, this hostel is a winner
LLeo6324This is a truly magical youth hostel, just like stepping into the enchanting Blue Moon Valley. Every day, I loved drifting off to sleep and waking up to the soothing aroma of wood. Time here seems to slow down to a beautiful pace. The owner is incredibly kind, and it's the kind of place you'll never want to leave!

KKatja HerlemannEmma is a wonderful host and we felt very much at home! She speaks great English and knows about everything a traveler might want and need.
Her whole family is super friendly and open and we enjoyed hanging out. Her cook made us one of the best meals with local and seasonal vegetables that we have had on the whole trip.
The location of the charming guesthouse is in a quiet side street, away from the hustle of this very touristic town.
The only small drawback was a horse trip that we booked through Emma, but it's partly my own fault because I should have inquired in detail beforehand. It wasn't horseriding but sitting on a horse while the guide was walking next to it and holding it the entire time - even though I do know well how to ride a horse. We felt pretty ridiculous, especially because it was an expensive activity... So best to discuss exactly what to expect :)
