This hostel provides free bath and face towels, which was super convenient and comfortable for my three-day stay. Everything was great; the showers had shampoo, conditioner, and body wash, and the toilet in the bathroom was clean and even heated. The smoking area is outdoors. When I came back in the evening, there were even guests playing Contra in the lobby. It was a very pleasant stay.

I wanted to stay in a traditional Japanese-style room typical of Kyoto, and I had a wonderful time. I was impressed by the earthen-floored kitchen.
It was a comfortable stay in a charming old house.
I used a private Japanese-style room on the second floor facing the shopping street. The Japanese furniture, such as the low table and clothes rack, was lovely and convenient.
Although I could hear conversations from other rooms, everyone was well-mannered that day, and it became quiet after midnight, so I was able to sleep without any problems.
The location is very convenient, right near Higashiyama Station. I stayed there for a concert held at the Rohm Theatre, and the convenient location made getting around very easy.
They offer free porridge for breakfast, which I enjoyed. I think the rice is delicious, as it was very tasty even without adding anything. If I have the opportunity to stay again, I'll bring some dried sardines and kelp!
I was very grateful that they allowed me to leave my luggage after check-out.
There is only one shower room, so I used a nearby public bath. Coffee, tea, and green tea are available free of charge. You can make it by boiling water in the kettle. Towels, yukata (Japanese robes), and toothbrushes are available for a fee, so guests need to purchase them or bring their own.
There are many delicious restaurants nearby, and I enjoyed trying various places like Shokudo Hayashiya, Marushin Hanten, and Kyoto Gion Bologna Coffee Shop. I would like to stay here again if I have the opportunity.

My experience was perfect. The front desk attendant was very helpful and kind. The room was exactly like in the photos. Good facilities and she let us leave our luggage until 4PM. I highly recommend this place. The best guesthouse I have stayed so far.

Initially, I was a bit confused because the photos on the website looked different, but after a 3-night stay, my conclusion is that I'd probably stay here again if the price is the same.
Pros:
* Location.
* Everything is on one floor, so there's no stress of moving between different areas. In other capsule hotels, the front desk, beds, showers, and lockers are often in separate rooms or on different floors, requiring you to constantly carry your key around. If you forget something, you end up making multiple trips, which is a real hassle.
* The bed is long, stretching along one wall, and the opposite side is a solid wall with no other beds, making it less likely to encounter other guests when getting in and out.
* Earplugs were provided.
* The facilities were kept clean.
Cons:
* It felt older than it appeared in the website photos.
* One side of the wall is used for large luggage storage, which gives it a somewhat cluttered impression (though this doesn't matter once you're in bed).
* Two large, usable refrigerators are available.

Very satisfied with my last stay, clean and comfortable
This time, I felt that the dishwashing staff on the second floor were really busy. I didn't dare to stay for a long time. I felt like they were unhappy. They were like this at night and during the day when the food was being collected... I just happened to be in a good mood. Yeah..but it’s awesome even if the bowl is too loud and the cup is not broken👍

I really loved this place. It felt super cosy, I was looking to stay in a traditional Japanese house and this scratched the itch. Check-in is not too confusing, you just follow the instructions provided. Yukatas available to rent. My room was very clean, and I didn't have any problems with noise. Location is good, near two bus stops and a 15min walk from Kyoto Railway station. A highlight is the public bath nearby - highly recommend going!!!

The location not far from Kyoto Station was not bad and the neighborhood was quiet.
The room was a good size to stay alone and the staff was friendly and nice!
The bedding is clean but it seems that there is some dust in the room if it is not well ventilated. (If there is dust, it is left from the nose)
The hanger jacket on the wall was missing, so I couldn't hang my clothes.
I hope the shared washbasin and tea table are cleaned better!
And it was a little bit like paying only one towel for four nights.
If there are a few improvements, it seems to be the perfect hotel

Hostel combined with a cafe. 2nd floor is a large common room, often busy so you can easily meet people there. Beds are very comfortable, but bottom bunks lack headspace.
Small amenities like toothbrushes, towels, etc. cost yen. While they are cheap, the principle of charging what every other hostel in Japan provides for free didn’t sit well with me.

A decent hostel with an excellent location near Gion in NE Kyoto, and very near to a station with direct trains to Osaka. The room was OK in size but very bare, only a double bed and tiny shelves for nightstands. It was a shame as you could easily fit a table/ chairs/ small wardrobe in here which would make it much easier for storing things instead of on the floor! Shared bathroom was OK, and only one shared shower for our floor, thankfully it was always free when we needed it. It was quite expensive for what it was so slightly disappointing, but I guess Kytoto is now a very expensive city to stay in.

The hostel is located in the historic district, meaning you can stroll the picturesque streets in the morning before the crowds get too crowded.
The hostel itself is very cozy. We rented a private room (it's larger than in the photo), but a shared room would have been just as nice. The window in the private room doesn't open, but there's air conditioning.
There are two toilets, a European-style shower, and a bathroom. There's a washer and dryer (coin-type). The kitchen has everything you need, plus tea and coffee, and it's generally a pleasant place to hang out.
The guests are pleasant, with many Japanese staying there.
The hostess is wonderful, very hospitable. Thank her so much. She can recommend places to go and make you some mincemeat.
If I ever go to Kyoto again, I'd stay here, not in a shared room. This was probably the nicest place I stayed on my entire trip.

Very Good
FFloria SThis hostel it is clean, good location, even if you are 2 km from main popular street is easy to get around.
The issues: you can’t really sleep here if u get snoring people as ur neighbors rooms. I ve booked 7 days but I had to cancel the lasts 2 because was really hard to sleep and I was having only ~4h sleeping. And at 7/8 am people are already moving and waking up and because of the isolation of the ceiling(pic) is very easy to hear absolutely anything, any little move. In the first night staying here, after a person snoring so much until 2 am , it woke up go toilet and after it put reels on big volume at more than 2 am, I had to go all the way to knock at his door bcz I imagine it was a guy. The single issue with the mixed floor is this, if you put a girl with only men and they snoring, that girl can’t have any good sleep, if u put only girls and some men but they snoring, all girls will get mad bcz I wasn’t the single one after the first day. In the last night the snoring man wasn’t in the room anymore and they were more girls I ve heard. So if this hostel wants to make a mixed floor then I think they can think of putting only young people with young people and older people with older. Or maybe only 1 floor women and another men and the rest floor mixed idk. They can think of something. Also , there is water dispenser only at 5 th floor! Why they don’t have one next to reception? All the people from down have to climb all the stairs for a glass of water everyday until 5th?
And there is the sharing space only at 5th floor where is the water too but again, a person that needs to talk to phone and to not destroy other peace , has to go or outside the hostel or in toilets or at 5th floor… it is a bit of a struggle these things. And for the double rooms u can put a small electric kettle for morning coffee I think and a glass and a spoon. To not get all the way up to 5th floor, if it wasn’t complicated to get all the way up I would have gone to make coffee there too but I tried one morning when I was still not awake and it was a bit of a struggle. That’s all. Oh. And the beds are really comfortable and very soft, too bad I couldn’t enjoy a good sleep in them. And after I canceled the lasts 2 days I didn’t receive back the city tax:)) is not big money at all but details makes the difference.
GGuest UserKyoto was the main stop on this trip, so I had high expectations for this hotel in Omiya. It's about a 10-minute walk from Kyoto's most prosperous Shijo shopping street, which isn't too close, but still very convenient. There are bus stops and subway stations nearby, so getting around is still very convenient. However, if you want to avoid walking, it's best to book a room in Shijo. There's free housekeeping once every three nights, but we didn't tell the front desk before 8 p.m. one night in advance, so we didn't use it. The toothbrush was very difficult to use, much worse than the hotel in Nagoya.
YyzcitsitnafExperienced a very good youth travel, stayed for five nights. The front desk staff was very gentle and patient. The hygiene is very clean, often see the staff cleaning, very careful.
The public area is fully equipped, the tea bags are very rich, especially the matcha milk powder is particularly delicious, very amazing, the taste is very sweet, basically drink every day. (In the picture, I made the matcha milk)
The location of the Youth Hostel is also very good. It is very close to the four prosperous areas. It is not far from the subway station bus stop (within ten minutes). There are several convenience stores around. There is a fried pork chop rice nearby.
GGuest UserClean, spacious, professional. Really liked my experience there . Loved the bed, convenient. You can use it like a sofa and as a bed . Loved the mirror in my « room ». So grateful. Well located too.
Points to work on : put the towels and slippers on each floors. Toilet and shower doors too heavy, need some oil lol. Would put a tablette on the side of the bed for phone, charger, etc.
Nothing more honestly !
GGuest UserThe price and atmosphere are both great. I'm not sure about the opening hours, but it was a bit late when we arrived. It was a good experience with friends, and we got to try a Japanese-style room. The bed was very comfortable. Recommended!
ZZithounProjectKyoto Inn: Overview
• The Vibe: Exceptional. The property stands out for its positive energy and welcoming community of travelers and staff.
• Human Connection: A great spot to meet locals and fellow travelers, making it easy to share experiences.
• Atmosphere: Highly recommended for those prioritizing a friendly, high-energy environment.
Important Logistics to Note
While the stay is overwhelmingly positive, there are two practical details to keep in mind regarding luggage:
1. Locker Size: The on-site lockers are not designed for large suitcases or bulky hiking packs. It is best suited for smaller valuables or day bags.
2. Deposit Policy: Be prepared to provide a security deposit for locker usage. It’s a good idea to have some spare yen in cash ready upon arrival for this.
Quick Tips for Your Stay
• Luggage Strategy: If you are traveling with large bags, consider using a Takkyubin (luggage forwarding service) to send your heavy gear to your next destination, or check if the front desk can store larger items in a common area.
• Socializing: Take advantage of the common areas in the evening; it sounds like the best part of the experience happens there.
It's great that you had such a human-centric experience! Kyoto is a city that really rewards taking the time to connect with the people around you.
