My four-night stay at Iwatoyama Hostel was truly fantastic, and it's definitely a place I'd love to visit again. From the moment I arrived, I felt a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The lobby is spacious and bright, and the common areas are tastefully and simply decorated, making it easy to relax, chat, or organize luggage. It’s also a great spot for travelers to connect.
The room was clean and tidy, with a comfortable bed and fresh-smelling linens, ensuring a good night's sleep every night. The bathroom was kept very clean, well-stocked with amenities, and had stable hot water and good water pressure. Throughout my four-day stay, I could tell the hostel paid great attention to cleanliness; the common areas were always spotless, which made me feel very comfortable.
The location is a major plus. It’s conveniently located near the station, making public transportation or walking to attractions very easy. There are also convenience stores and restaurants nearby, so finding something to eat in the evening was never an issue. It’s an ideal base for exploring Kyoto, saving a lot of travel time.
The friendly and welcoming staff truly enhanced my stay. The front desk staff provided clear explanations and patiently assisted with any issues, making me feel right at home. Even brief conversations showed their genuine care. They offered detailed advice on travel information and transportation, which was incredibly helpful for an out-of-town guest.
The facilities are excellent too. The communal kitchen is well-equipped, so it's easy to prepare simple meals. The laundry facilities are convenient, especially for guests staying multiple days. The overall environment is quiet and comfortable, with no noisy disturbances, allowing for a restful night.
These four nights made my trip even smoother and more enjoyable. The cleanliness, location, service quality, and overall ambiance all met or exceeded my expectations. If I return to Kyoto in the future, I will definitely choose this hostel again and recommend it to my friends. A big thank you to the hostel team for such a wonderful experience!

The hostel is really close to Kyoto Station, about a five-minute walk, and there are supermarkets, malls, and plenty of restaurants nearby. They have check-in guides in Chinese, the entire hostel feels quite new, it's clean and tidy, and there's an elevator. The common area even has a Nintendo Switch. Plus, you can store your luggage for free after check-out.

Hostel combined with a cafe. 2nd floor is a large common room, often busy so you can easily meet people there. Beds are very comfortable, but bottom bunks lack headspace.
Small amenities like toothbrushes, towels, etc. cost yen. While they are cheap, the principle of charging what every other hostel in Japan provides for free didn’t sit well with me.

The place is super close to alot of mainstream attractions. Easily walking or one train stop away from Kyoto main station.
The host is super knowledgeable on the Kyoto attractions and very helpful. Everyone in the team speaks English extremely well . The place is super clean and very organized. You can see the love given to his place.
Dont skip the chat in the main lobby as you can learn alot from the host and other staff. Kudos for their passion.
Definitely a place for me to come back.

My stay this time was fantastic! From the moment I checked in, the front desk staff were professional and incredibly friendly. The room decor was modern and clean, with absolutely no strange odors, and the mattress provided just the right amount of support, making for a very comfortable sleep.
What surprised me most was the excellent water pressure in the bathroom; the hot water came quickly, which made for a very relaxing shower. The hotel's location is also very convenient, with a convenience store and local eateries just a short walk downstairs.

Loved this place so much! It's a shame we only booked one night. We didn't meet the host at all; it was a completely self-check-in experience. Towels, toothbrushes, and other amenities were available for self-service purchase. They also offered bike rentals (1000 JPY per bike per day). Additionally, there was a 200 JPY tax per person. At first, I wondered how to pay the tax since we didn't see the host, but then I found the reservation confirmation and a QR code on the table in the room, which allowed us to scan and pay directly! Our room was on the second floor and had its own toilet and sink, while the shower room was shared and located outside. The room was really beautiful, and the kids loved it. I thought a wooden room might have poor soundproofing, but it was surprisingly quiet. We went to bed before 7 PM and didn't hear a sound. In the morning, we also enjoyed some hot white rice porridge, which was fantastic! I hope to have the chance to stay for a few more nights next time!

Very satisfied with my last stay, clean and comfortable
This time, I felt that the dishwashing staff on the second floor were really busy. I didn't dare to stay for a long time. I felt like they were unhappy. They were like this at night and during the day when the food was being collected... I just happened to be in a good mood. Yeah..but it’s awesome even if the bowl is too loud and the cup is not broken👍

The experience was terrible! Think carefully before booking.
Our family of five, all adults, brought four suitcases and two backpacks. It was a last-minute trip, and none of us speak English. We tried to stay in the same place, but our options were limited. In the end, we could only book five single beds (bunk beds).
The hostel was clean, but the place was really small. We got home late (after 10 pm, and the dorm lights go out at 10 pm), and to avoid disturbing the other guests, we moved our suitcases to the living room to unpack our purchases and grab clothes for the next day. I must say, the five of us bought quite a lot of things. While we were unpacking, the hostel would suddenly appear, grumbling in Japanese and criticizing us for not putting things on the table. But the place was so small that if we put everything on the floor, there was no room to walk! All five of us took turns unpacking, and we're all quick and efficient. I stayed there for three nights, and every day I was extremely careful, afraid of making a mess and getting scolded. It was a very uncomfortable stay. If you have a large suitcase, you should seriously consider dormitories that are run by landlords.

Good location, walkable to metro station and some tourist attractions. Provides shoe rack and slippers to change upon entering, has lift to access all floors. Shared kitchen and common area is spacious and comfortable, provides kitchenware, stove, cutleries, coffee and tea. Toilets and bathroom are clean and equipped with hairdryer. There is storage under bunk bed but need to prepare your own lock and key. Has airconditioning in the room. Paid washer and dryer available.

I used a women-only room for a solo trip for one night in Japanese, but travelers from all over the world stayed there, and large travel bags lined up on the bedside (not in the valuables box). There was no trouble and no one made a fuss.
Everyone walks tired and sleeps ...
Convenience stores are nearby, and there are refrigerators, toasters and microwaves to warm bread and lunch boxes, so I was able to spend meaningful time without any trouble.

Cheap stay, can’t really complain for the price I paid, amenities was good, but the only thing was it was a bit messy in the room , not much storage places so everyone stuff was everywhere.
FUGA STAY, true to the meaning of its name “fuga” (elegance and serenity), is a refined and peaceful hideaway tucked within the heart of Kyoto. I personally love hotels that are hidden away from the main road yet still extremely convenient—just a 3 to 5-minute walk from Omiya Subway Station and numerous Kyoto city bus stops. If you’re into cycling or using e-scooters, there’s a Luup rental station right in front of the hotel. The room is spacious and very comfortable for a solo traveler. It comes with two double beds that you can easily move together to form a super king-size bed. The bathroom is also large, with no sense of tightness. The front desk staff speaks Japanese and Chinese, so communication is smooth and easy. Honestly, I’m hesitant to praise FUGA too much—if too many people discover it, the price might go up! P.S. Just around the corner is Tendō Shrine, only a 2-minute walk away. It felt like a beautiful encounter by fate.
Best hostel including incredibly comfortable bed and well designed lounge. The appliances are from balmuda and they offer free beers and coffee. It definitely surpassed my expectations.
A little fit far away from Kyoto station but it's not a problem because you have a bus station near the hotel. This hotel is located in a really calm place without noisy tourists. The room looks like a flat. Really comfortable. P.S.: Starbucks is located on the corner
It was a great place and very nice staff!! I hope to see them again in future! Nothing fancy in rooms but bathrooms were very nice. Common area is pretty sweet as well. Loved the dinning and living room area, I’ll post about it on my channel maybe @ Varun Batra Pic is just a Kyoto memory
The environment and surrounding makes you feel super comfortable. Sadly, I only stay 1 night but will definitely come back on my next trip to Kyoto, Thanks…
Amazing place! Reasonable price, clean rooms, comfortable beds. Special thanks to friendly staff! The location is good - very close to Kansai Airport bus station (2800¥), shopping malls and the train station.
