Das 53°Hotel

After the first visit to Corona was very relaxed in the summer and I was positively reminded, I stayed at the 53° hotel for the second time. I booked a premium single room on the sea side and looked very happy for a short rest. The first impression was disgusting because the wing gill to the balcony was severely damaged, the bath coat showed a large hole, the bath foreman like a purse lap and there was fungi in the shower. For a room in the premium category I would also have expected a dressing box, unfortunately there was only a cord, without slips and a box. At the first floor, on which my room was also located, there was a small kitchen line with minibar on a confidence basis for all guests. In itself, a good idea, unfortunately the second night ended at 1 p.m. as other guests / girls group plundered the minibar and the noise level was enormously high and the night was over. The service at the hotel was OK but here was also the staff shortage and the helps at breakfast and even afternoon have no idea of the gastronomy. Concluded: The price - the performance ratio has not been matched for me this time unfortunately!

I can't say I was overly impressed with this hotel, apart from its location close to the lake and nearby shops. It's quite old fashioned and in need of a more modern image, or a rustic theme. As you come into the reception, there's a strange medieval type dining table and chairs. The patterned wallpaper doesn't complement the mixture of modern artwork for sale on the walls either. I was staying there with a disabled family member and because the door to the small bar was too narrow for the wheelchair, we were placed in a side room which had all the atmosphere of a railway station waiting room. Having arrived after 9.00 pm, the kitchen was closed and my evening meal had to be a bowl of Bombay Mix. The rooms are clean, but again very dated. No coffee/tea making facility or bottled water. The mini bar has water, beer and wine for purchase though. The 'disabled room' my cousin shared with her daughter was positively awful. Small, no room for the wheelchair and walking frame and a view onto a nearby laurel hedge, which made it very dark. The restaurant is nice, although expensive, and the best views to the lake are from the few tables for two in the 'orangery' area. What we found particularly annoying was the staff had clearly been told to 'look busy at all times' and when they weren't serving, they were whipping off table cloths and laying for breakfast, then changing it back to dinner etc. The breakfast was fine and there was a nice variety of bread and rolls. If you want smoked salmon, you have to ask for it when they're not busy. We were three people and the waitress gave us a coffee pot that would have been just enough for two. Small details, but this hotel is marketed as 4 star - it didn't feel like it. The hotel wasn't overly busy and on my last day I asked if I could have a later check out (just before 3.00 pm instead of 11.00 am). I was told this was not possible, but I could have it until midday. No help to me at all. It's not an unpleasant place to stay, but not memorable in any way.

We were there with a small private group and had booked an arrangement with 2 nights and 3-Gang-Abendessen. There was a fish and a meat dish to choose each. I had Zander on eye glands and Zucchini on the first night. Unfortunately, there was a soup fennel which totally covered the taste. The fish itself was tasteless without taste. On the second night I had maize chickens with rosmarin potatoes. The potatoes were delicious, the chicken meat went toward thin and dry. Unfortunately no highlight. On both nights we were served mainly by a very friendly servant. We wanted to give this a proper drinking money. Unfortunately, he had to share it with his colleagues (by a internal key). We found that very bad and unfair. I was very angry about one thing to conclude: since I wasn't so well in health last day, my wife asked if it would be possible to get some breakfast for me in the room. Then I got coffee and a half Croissant. The bill was then a service position over €5, which was calculated for bringing breakfast. Now everyone can make his thoughts. Another comment on Corona management: at the arrival the vaccine was not controlled, at breakfast buffet guests had to pass through the food in narrow snacks. The distance was not possible spatially.
