Pullman Hotels in Bangkok

Regarding the hotel's location, it's a bit of a walk to both the BTS and MRT, which isn't ideal if you have large luggage. Smaller bags are fine, and it's perfect for backpackers. Considering it was during the summer holidays and a weekend, the price, including breakfast for two, with a price guarantee from Ctrip, was an absolute steal – what more could you ask for? The hotel breakfast was good, with decent variety and quality, even though it was packed and you had to queue. But then I remembered the price, and any frustration melted away. Check-in required a deposit, and you could pay with a UnionPay card. Initially, one of the round-faced female receptionists, who was all smiles towards Westerners, seemed unfamiliar with the system and insisted only Visa was accepted. However, another receptionist who knew the ropes confirmed UnionPay was fine, making for a smooth check-in. Again, the price made any minor inconvenience acceptable. The hotel offered welcome drinks, which could be exchanged for two decent mojitos by the pool. From the room, you could see residential buildings and a rooftop temple, similar to one seen in the 'Detective Chinatown' movies. The hotel bathrooms all had bathtubs, even though I didn't use it, and the space was quite generous. The white polka-dot tiles were a peculiar and dizzying aesthetic, though.

The room's ceiling was a bit low, and the interior was quite basic. The bedding wasn't very comfortable (old linens, soft pillows), and there were signs of wear and tear. Ventilation was poor, making clothes prone to smelling after washing. Breakfast was discounted for guests, and the price was the same for adults and children, offering good overall value for money. The pool was quite large, but the service and facilities were rudimentary. In the changing rooms, two sets of staff came in to change towels and empty bins while I was showering, completely disregarding guests wrapped in towels and trying to hide in a corner as they came and went multiple times. The hotel's most outstanding feature is the lobby, with its modern minimalist style and Japanese garden water feature, surpassing the public areas of most Pullmans. It's about a 10-minute walk to the BTS stations in front and behind. There's a food court on the upper floor of the duty-free shop next door, and if you walk through King Power to the back street, you'll find coffee shops and 7-Eleven. Both BTS stations also have popular Thai restaurants and coffee shops nearby. I probably won't stay here again.
