We were overwhelmed by the friendly staffs and the rooms are decent, clear and modern. Shower is strong and hot, the surrounding area is very quiet and peaceful. I am happy to have chosen the Bowburn Hall Hotel.

I had been wanting to try the fish n chip offer which is 2 for £18 - includes peas of your choice, bread n butter and hot drink - for a while now. This is on Fridays at the time 12-5 I believe now extended. You do need to check with hotel as some Fridays it is not on as private events at hotel. We managed a Friday we were both free and wow pleased we did I am not sure why the hotel is using the photo on their leaflet as it does not do their fish n chips justice - they were much better in person!!! Tasted lovely , white fish and plentiful. Service was great, staff very nice asked several times if needed anything else. Drinks were good. For £9 each this was amazing! Taking my daughter today can see it becoming a regular occurrence Check first the offer is on if you wanting fish n chips as not on every Friday.

The hotel itself, room and staff serving customers deserves a decent review however the restaurant on site was a massive disappointment. Just Wow! What a let down its no wonder there's around 6 tables taken up. Whilst they celebrate their chef having 20 years service this may be their downfall. The first dish ordered was the steak, with peppercorn sauce I tasted the steak alone and based on what I could see a tub of pepper had been put upon it before cooking and being that I was potentially being melodramatic I asked my husband to taste it. Safe to say it was appauling the staff however were wonderful in their approach offering me the same dish without seasoning - we all like seasoning just at a reasonable level. I declined and ordered a different dish I managed less than half of this in that it arrived in less than 10 minutes I was already dubious of its freshness and the pastry was drier than a stale loaf a running theme here to say the burger bun was abandoned by my partner. I can only assume the 'fresh' produce here is frozen and warmed in a microwave before service. When asked if we were finished we had to say yes, despite plates being practically full was everything OK. Yes ok. Just ok can I feed back to the chef the waiter replied, I explained I didn't want to criticise the chef again when I had already sent back a dish and that in itself is not a regular occurance for me. The fact I am writing this review is evidence enough. My sympathy dropped when ordering drinks and you can see straight into the kitchen the chef sat with his feet up cooking what exactly I wonder? It's such a shame because with a good chef the restaurant would be full of guests but as it stands that will never happen, we didn't even bother with desserts.

Beautiful food friendly staff, can't wait to go back & soon ! We got married at this hotel in 2019 which was recommended by close friends who had previously attended a Wedding there the year before, we were so happy as we had the perfect day to remember , excellent Value for money and always a warm welcome when we visit this hotel . We stayed at the hotel for two nights following a family celebratory lunch, from the outset we were impressed with all aspects of it. The staff were friendly, polite and well trained, all the meals we had were very enjoyable the food was of an excellent quality and the service was very good. On the whole we really enjoyed our short break at the hotel. A couple of small grumbles, as a traditionalist I think Prosecco should be serve in flutes not coupe glasses which I was told was the new standard for the hotel. The TV reception was intermittent in the room. From a guest security perspective I am not sure offering unfettered access to the accommodation area to all the attendees of the Wedding Showcase is correct.

Stayed overnight, room top floor really not suitable if you have a mobility problem, table booked for 7pm went to bar area to have a drink beforehand, no seats so we asked where to go a member of staff showed us where to go. We sat down when another staff member said we had to move couldn’t sit there ? We explained we had been shown these seats to sit on . Anyway we ordered two Irish coffees. They took an age to come and then they were just tepid certainly not a nice hot Irish coffee , we alerted a waiter who said sorry I’ll get another well that didn’t happen. Food came and was. Lovely. An altercation broke out where the manager was called ,whom in my opinion made matters worse during which she used bad language within her altercation with guests think she was Lisa. . Our twin room was small but adequate spotlessly clean and the comfiest of beds a good nights sleep was had . Would I recommend. All I will say it was ok for a night , will I return I very much doubt it I’ll stick to either Ramside or Redworth hall . At check out we did mention our complaints to reception he was very apologetic . Sorry Bowburn Hall .
