The hotel is huge, so it's very convenient to plan your shuttle routes and times in advance. The cabin I stayed in this time had air conditioning and was extremely clean, almost like new. I highly recommend it! The only thing to note is that renting bicycles at the hotel is quite expensive and the quality isn't great, so I suggest renting one outside.

I specifically booked this hotel for a golf trip. It's about a 10-minute walk from JR Karuizawa Station, and they offer free, on-demand shuttle service. Right outside the hotel (a 5-minute walk) is the Prince Outlet, and you can access the ski lifts directly, making it a one-stop shop for shopping, skiing, and more.

The hotel's forest hot spring (separate for men and women) features floor-to-ceiling windows with views of the snow or lush trees, offering a truly therapeutic experience. The property includes a main building and forest cabins, all surrounded by trees, ensuring a quiet and peaceful stay.

The rooms are comfortable and spacious. The cabins come with a private garden and an outdoor hot spring, definitely worth staying in.

I've been to Karuizawa several times, and each time I've stayed at a different hotel. The only advantage of Prince Hotel is its dedicated lobby at the station, where you can hand over your luggage directly to the staff to be delivered to your room, allowing you to head straight to the outlets for shopping. Similarly, when checking out, your luggage can be sent directly to the station, which is very convenient. However, the drawbacks are also obvious: the hotel facilities are quite old. There were cobwebs in the room and a strange odor, which is quite unusual for hotels in Japan. My daughter sneezed all night, and we coughed all night. Most importantly, the design is extremely impractical. Typically, after shopping and dining at the outlets, we'd return to the hotel around 7-8 PM. To use the hot springs, you need to take a shuttle bus to the West and Main buildings, and the last shuttle back is just after 9 PM, leaving absolutely no extra time to enjoy the onsen. If you do go to the hot springs, you also need to wear your own clothes, as the hotel doesn't provide yukata or slippers for the trip. The next day, we rented the hotel's free bicycles to explore the area, only to discover upon returning that the hotel also offers electric-assist bikes. It's unclear why this alternative option wasn't mentioned to us.

We spent 2 nights in Prince after first 2 nights in Kusatsu onsen town. The hotel looked underwhelming on arrival and the front office service was efficient but cursory compared to the warm hospitality we had in the ryokan stay. It was low season and hotel was very quiet and had a ”cold” atmosphere.

I was further disappointed when we were shown our room which was on the lowest floor with a simple garden view. On requesting the check-in staff for a change of room on higher floor and a more scenic view, I was told there is an upgrade charge, which I accepted. The new room was the same size and configuration but on a higher floor with a nice view of Mt Asama. While I was happy to pay the fee, I can't help but compare their practice with all the hotels that I have stayed in all these years, where room changes were complimentary so long as the room type remains the same. Nevertheless, the hotel's facilities delighted me immensely and I enjoyed the overall experience.
The highlight of the hotel stay was the fantastic view of Asama in a high ceiling dining room with full glass window. We were able to have different table seatings for both morning breakfast as the hotel occupancy was low, which gave us different perspectives of the scenery.
The other highlight of the hotel is the onsen facility which is located in a separate building on higher ground, accessible via a self service automated tram. Aside from Asama view in the outdoor onsens, there is a common lounge which has equally awesome view of Asama. We enjoyed our time soaking in onsen and resting in the lounge.

I would go back to Prince Asama and experience the scenery during a different season!

We booked a small cabin for 8 people, and the hotel includes 3 time meals in the lobby. In the morning it is breakfast, and other times are snacks and tea. You cannot drive your own car inside the hotel. There is a hotel car pick-up and drop-off service. All hotel areas and Ole are available. It is very close to the Wangzi Ski Resort. Walk for 5 minutes. Ole can also walk over, just a few minutes. It is very big and there are many restaurants inside. But there is a limit to what can be packaged.

I thoroughly enjoyed my favorite sulfurous hot spring!

I've loved this hot spring since I was a child, for 40 years now. The building is old, but I'm grateful that I can still visit the same hot spring in the same place!

The hotel is quite old, the rooms are small, and the food is just okay. However, the hot springs are pretty good, with many small pools and different water qualities. I paid a deposit through Trip.com in advance, and it took over 10 days to get it back, and it was even converted at the exchange rate. Why would a deposit be exchanged if it's not meant to be used? There was no prior notification either. When I paid at the front desk in Japanese Yen, I somehow lost dozens of yuan on the two bookings. Trip.com's tricks are too deep. The hotel actually doesn't need a deposit at all. Beware of agents that require a deposit! They essentially use your money for a while, refund it when the exchange rate is bad, and then charge an agency fee. They scam you three times over, very slick.

The hotel is located in a remote area, and the hot spring facilities are basic, with only a public open-air bath; there is no sauna or public indoor bath. The rooms were generally clean, but for such a remote location, the room size was not large.

Booked a room in Building 2 for three nights, and got an upgrade to the club floor. The room wasn't huge, but it had four beds, enough for two adults and two children, and the bathroom had a separate shower and toilet. The cable car is right downstairs, making skiing super convenient. There are tons of restaurants; we tried pizza, BBQ, ramen, and an izakaya, among others. The prices were reasonable, and everything tasted great. We'll definitely be back, highly recommend it!
