Sleep Inn Carlisle South

Carlisle|1.79km from Bosler Hall
I was in the quaint town of Carlisle with my husband for a car show. When I walked into our hotel room at Sleep Inn, I noticed sizable stains in front of the sink/mirror, then noticed additional red splatter on the wall to the right of the sink, and 2 small red dots on one of the hanging hand towels. I looked closer at all and they appeared to be blood! I instantly called the front desk and asked to be moved to a different hotel, to which the woman, sounding horrified, advised there were none in town affiliated with them. She advised me that we could move to a different room on the first floor which had been cleaned by a different employee. I was totally grossed out and wanted to leave, but it was 9:30 at night in a smaller town occupied by many car enthusiasts such as my husband, so we just moved to the other room. When checking out 2 days later, I asked to speak to the manager to discuss my concerns and disappointment with the cleanliness of the room and hotel. The GM of this Sleep Inn is Fendry Peña. He claimed that the stains on the carpet, wall, and towels were not blood but rather red hair dye. He also stated that other rooms had the same dye stains if I would like to see them. I asked how he could be sure, and he said that I would be surprised at how many people dye their hair red…What?!?! He then offered to take 20% off our 2 night stay. I had no interest in looking at the carpet on other rooms, and based on his response and attitude, I just wanted to leave, knowing I would NEVER stay there again for another car show, and made it a point to leave a review so others could be forewarned. He emailed a revised receipt to my husband showing a $50.00 credit, which was less than 20%, with the reason being “Adjust. Blood in the room”. Thought it was red hair dye???? On a different note, the breakfast was subpar..waffles, packaged muffins, bananas, or oranges. Coffee too was disappointing..from a machine. There original price for our 2 night stay was $385.53. WAY overpriced for this hotel!! If you check the reviews on this Sleep Inn’s website, you will find that the response from management to a negative review was copied and pasted…I would encourage all to pass on this hotel when visiting Carlisle!!

Comfort Suites Downtown Carlisle

We were in town for IceFest and you couldn't ask for a better location to enjoy all the festivities. Comfort Suites did a good job dropping a 4 story, 100 room hotel in the middle of historic Carlisle blending it in with the surrounding architecture. The front desk was wonderful checking in early and checking out and all the staff we encountered were very friendly. The parking was $5.30 a night at the garage right behind the hotel making it fairly easy going in and out. Our large king room with sofa was very nice and the walkways and common areas around the hotel were also very nice. We thought their continental breakfast was a step above, with eggs, sausage, waffles, fruit and much more. We loved the Ice Bar out front with the heated tents which we visited on a few occasions for food and drink. We also visited cool little bar twice, the 1794 Whiskey Rebellion, but had a problem there with service, but that's another review. With their fairly reasonable rates, when visiting Carlisle in the future the Comfort Suites would be the 1st place we would check.
