A pleasant hotel situated at 4 1/2 Mile in Sandakan, conveniently located near the popular Kim Fung Food Court, known for its wide variety of food choices, especially the BBQ chicken. In addition to the food court, there are several other restaurants and cafes in the area, offering diverse dining options. A local supermarket and convenience stores are also nearby, making it easy to pick up essential items. The hotel staff is friendly, and the check-in and check-out process is efficient. While the breakfast is modest with limited options, it’s sufficient to start the day. I would definitely choose to stay here again when visiting Sandakan.
What I liked a lot: Well situated to visit main attractions in Sepilok: Sepilok Orang Utan Rehabilitation Centre/Sunbear centre/Rainforest Discovery Centre (RDC), free shuttle bus to the main attractions (09h-14h-16) which was really great. Also offer tours at reasonable prices e.g. Mangroves & Firefly Cruise (recommended). Free water dispenser.
To note: rooms are very basic (there is airco), we had some ants in the room, bathroom is outside. Breakfast was limited and minimal.
When we were there internet was not functional, luckily we had taken local simcard before with unlimited data so for us, this was not a big issue. Before coming to the hotel, I had sent a mail to have info about tours they offered, but never received a reply therefore I had booked tours with an agency which in the end was more expensive then when I would have it booked with Paganakan Dii Tropical Retreat. Possible to book tours on the spot (no need to reserve before coming) but I did not know this in advance.
The speed unit aircon required service and pillows required replacement too. The Spa is just next door you can request massage in your room and last order is 12.30am 👍
You can has beer🍻 at their bistro bar or at the back of the hotel got few bar too. Very convenient for breakfast, lunch and dinner at nearby shops 👍

The deco is absolutely stunning. Pretty, can't deny this. Kids were happy to see the hello kitty theme, small size couch for the kids to sit. Downside is the amenities for this accommodation is poorly maintained. Front door can't close, owner ask us to just lock gate don't close front door or door will not able to be open from inside (?!), balcony look dangerous for children, so many sure not to let any kids go there. Lucky just book the place for a night, else will be worry for safely. Pic included where door required to stay open whole day/night to avoid locked in. Lol.

Sandakn inn hotel is the best.
Room much nicer and bigger than expected with lovely views. have lift and near city center.
Very helpful, Clean rooms and good staff.
worth for the money and it cheapest.
Recommended.
I'm surprised how big and comfy the room is. It's like I'm staying in service appar**ent. Service is great with housekeeping cleaning our room everyday. Downside is the location is very isolated
We lived in a fresh clean apartment with 3 bedrooms. Each one has air conditioning, as well as in the kitchen-living room. The apartment also has 2 bathrooms.
We checked in without any problems, the owner is very responsive.
The condominium comes with a parking space. Very convenient.
The condominium has its own pool with very comfortable water for children. Ours did not get out of there for 2 hours.
Location. 20 minutes by rented car to Sepilok. 50 minutes to Labuk bay. With a rented car, the location is excellent. I don’t know if it would be better to travel in another way.

GGuest UserHistoric hotel. Rooms were clean and spacious, but old and not well maintained. Due for refurb. Breakfast options were pretty average, but congee and roti jala with kari ayam have a special place in my heart, and tummy ;)
GGuest UserStayed in a shared dorm. Walking distance to RDC a little further than other options but perfectly manageable. Dorm and bathrooms were clean and as advertised. Not much space to put stuff but you get what you pay for with a shared dorm. Food and drinks options at the restaurant are expensive and for several meals I opted to eat at nearby resorts which were cheaper. Nevertheless, the atmosphere at the reception/restaurant was fantastic and I really enjoyed it. Staff were extremely hospitable and helpful. No shelter between reception and rooms was a bit of a bummer but no big deal. Wifi only available at the reception. Overall, great value for the price.
GGuest UserThe hotel is excellent next to the nursery of orangutans, rainbow bears and rainforest, the territory of the hotel is very beautiful, the pool is small, lived in a house which on the one hand is very authentic and on the other hand modern. When leaving the hotel we could not call a grab taxi, had to use the services of the reception. I do not recommend taking a tour for 3 days 2 nights to Sukau, to see only proboscis monkeys and crocodiles and various birds, one night is the best. It is better to devote more days to Sepilok, there you can see all the birds and animals
SSharyn04We recently stayed at The Pavilion Hotel in Sandakan and had a pleasant experience, especially during breakfast.
The dining area was clean, spacious, and well-lit, providing a comfortable environment to start the day. The breakfast spread was simple yet satisfying, offering options such as bread, spreads, and beverages like fresh juice. The staff were friendly and attentive, ensuring the tables were clean and guests were well-served.
AAmyLCAmazing location for the sunbears and Orangutan Sanctuary, just 5 minutes on foot. The pool here is a nice relief from the heat, however there are only about 10 sunbeds and then some seating along the wall, so at times there was nowhere to sit and relax by the pool which was a shame. The room was big, the balcony overlooked jungle type gardens and lots of wildlife could be seen/heard. Tea&coffee was available in the rooms, along with bottled water each day. Food in the restaurant was average. The gardens were beautiful, would stay again.
AAllouraEverything was perfect with great hospitality.. great location....its worthy to have a stay here with budget cost....the bank is just behind the hotel and you can enjoy the night market on weekend nearby....there are plenty of restaurants you can choose to enjoy local food....I can easily go anywhere because the E - hailing is just a click away...
CChu Kok LeongFree and ample open space parking in front of the hotel;
Front office very bare but staff helpful and courteous;
Lifts are old but functionable and fast;
Tiles are missing;
Corridor walls are thin and old - can hear everything inside from the outside;
Corridor carpet is dark and smelly;
Corridor lighting dim and eerie;
Room door very sturdy but no bell;
Shower gel and shampoo available;
No fridge but drinking water and beverage sachets available;
Bathroom smelly no exhaust fan;
Shower water not strong;
Towels not cotton and yellowish;
TV out of order;
Hair dryer functionable;
Air-con leaking water mildly;
Air-con remote needs replacing;
Room stank of stale ciger smoke mixed with sewage;
Window stuck cannot shut and can fall to the ground floor if forced;
Window latch screw one missing and the other almost going off loose;
This hotel is in dire need of complete modern refurbishments.
자자유롭게 빡빡하게The best thing for this hotel was its location.
The room was big and spacious.
However, the room and the bathroom was never done cleaning. It is ok older building, interior and furnitures...should have done some cleaning for your guests.
RRomina BardalesThe hotel room is enough for spending the night and unwinding after a long day exploring the national parks.
You gotta turn on the water heater in order to get good water pressure and hot water, something I didn’t know at first.
The staff are friendly and the hotel is well located. It’s closed to the sea and located in the center of Sandakan. There are many restaurants around and lovely quirky streets. A restaurant I would recommend is Balin. It’s a fusion restaurant that serves delicious cocktails and offers ocean views, making it a perfect spot to catch the sunset over a delicious meal.
