Rachel at reception saved our vacation to Cork! Upon arrival to Cork, our airbnb had visible mold and smelled of mildew. Even though the Jury's Inn was fully booked, she helped us try to find a new location. After spending time in your lobby, Rachel rushed out to tell us there was a cancelation! Not only did she help us get a room, she provided complimentary drinks for ”our rough day”. I can't say enough good things about how caring Rachel was through the entire process. Thank you Rachel and Jury's Inn!
Maldron Hotel South Mall Cork City

Our room was comfortable. It was a good size, modern decor, and modern bathroom fixtures with a large tiled shower stall. The hotel had 2 elevators. activated by room keys. This hotel chain prefers jars of Body Wash to soap. Not having an iphone, I appreciated using the computer in their business room to do emails. There isn't really a lobby area at the entrance, but the cocktail and bar lounge, connected to a small dining area, serve as sitting areas when waiting for others. We arrived tired from a day of travel so we were delighted to eat in the hotel's dining room for an evening meal rather than go exploring for a restaurant. The prices for evening meals in the hotel cafe were reasonable with a discount offered on 2 and 3 courses. The Bacon and Chicken Salad (15E) I ordered was delicious and dinner size, and desserts like Eton Mess were around 6.75E. During the day, the hotel has a coffee shop (scones 3E) with both indoor and outdoor seating. Could take away the pastries and enjoy them in the room where coffee and tea and kettle were free to use. No bakery shop was nearby. The hotel is within walking distance of the English Market (a bakery counter here) and shopping streets like St. Patrick's Street. For us, it was a good choice for an overnight stay with Insight coach tours.

The architecture and decor and luxury of this hotel is stunning. And the location is one of the best in town. But the best thing of all is the staff! They make you feel very welcome and at home. I'm always going to stay here when I come to Cork.
Clayton Hotel Cork City

I got a room with a window facing the in-door atrium, which meant not having a window with daylight. For the price I paid, I would expect to have a room with a window with daylight. Spa was not clean and I didn't enjoy it at all. Breakfast was not good either. I won't stay with Clayton again.

Recently stayed at this hotel as part of a package of 3 bed and breakfasts and 1 dinner. Some positives include the view from the rooms, the comfortable bed and the lunch in the bistro was lovely and good value. Unfortunately the negatives far outweigh these and as a result, we would certainly not return to this hotel. The room needed a refurb...there were cracked, moving tiles on the bathroom floor and there was a large hole in the ceiling over the bath and could see the insulation and dirt etc. The leisure centre - I was the first guest in there one of the morning's and the dressing room shower area and toilet were not clean whatsoever and would turn me off using it. The worst part of our stay was the service in the restaurant and some of the food served. For our dinner as part of the package, we had dinner in the Samphire Restaurant. It was very quiet with approx 9 people having dinner and there was 3 staff waiting, which makes our experience even more disappointing as no excuse for poor service when so quiet. It seemed like it was the manager that took our dinner order and I noticed that he didn't write anything down...maybe he should start as there was plenty of mix ups. Initially one drink was brought to our table and no sign of the second drink...had to ask for it 10 minutes later. On to the main course, I opted for fillet steak (that comes with kale and mushrooms) but I requested onions instead of kale when i ordered it and was told this was no problem at all. Steak arrived with no onions (but had kale and mushrooms). I mentioned it to the waitress and she took my whole plate and said she would add onions. She arrived back 5 mins later, with both the kale and mushrooms gone (i wanted to eat the mushrooms all along) saying that the chef won't keep the steak under the lamp as it will overcook so to eat my meal and they will bring out onions when they're cooked. The man who took my order came over and apologised saying it was his fault over the mix up. I waited and waited for the onions but no sign so I ended up eating my steak with no sides whatsoever...just a few small roast potatoes that came separately. What a let down and a disappointing meal. When I was on my last bite of steak, low and behold, a massive bowl of onions arrived. Awful service for an almost empty restaurant. Other negatives were the eggs benedict for breakfast...eggs were very undercooked with gloopy white of egg turning me off it. We also found that there was a taste of coffee from the tea so cups needed better washing. Would not return.
