The Holroyd Arms
3.5/528 Reviews
Booked a room here because it was cheap, my wife and I were going to see Sarah Millican in Guildford and just wanted a place to crash. First impressions were that its a good bar with friendly locals and staff and well kept beer. The room was spacious, the bed was comfortable, lovely fluffy towels. The food looked good so we ate at the Holroyd rather than go out in town and it was delicious. After the Millican gig we came back instead of drinking in town, again because we liked the place, quality live music going on, had an excellent night. Would definately stay here again if we're back in the area and have even discussed coming up for a weekend break. Really good quality, really good value.
The Angel Posting House & Livery

Guildford itself has 4 hotels. This old hotel with a history of more than 100 years is located on the high street. However, the other side of the matter is that the hotel is indeed too old. The facilities are outdated and there is no elevator. The floor of the house is all sloped. Be careful and you may fall down.
Holiday Inn Guildford

Dinner for two was lovely, stayed overnight with dinner and brew included. Elisa who served was fantastic, made us feel very welcome and couldn’t have been more accommodating, the extra effort made the evening very enjoyable. If we are in the area again we will definitely come back.
Travelodge Guildford

After visiting Edinburgh, I went back to Surrey and stayed at this hotel, because I booked in the country and wanted to stay one more night, but there was no room. It is a 15-minute walk from the University of Surrey and close to Risari Railway Station Along the way, you can enjoy the English country style, quiet environment and fresh air. Breakfast is subject to additional charges.
Mandolay Hotel Guildford

We chose the Mandalay as it was very convenient. We booked in early and our luggage was taken to our room, which with hindsight we should have inspected When we returned that evening we were told the restaurant was shut. Not a big deal. However when we found our room I was appalled at the size and position. It was a dungeon (with no Aircon!). No window to open, no view at all, the bathroom was so small that the shower door wouldn't open fully, just one bedside table as the room was so small .All in all very disappointing. Our room has to have been the worst available room in the hotel in spite of our booking in advance and early arrival. On checkout the next morning I told reception that I was unhappy, he took notes, and promised that someone would contact me. 2 weeks later no one has! I emailed the hotel and their obtuse response has been most unhelpful For the price charged it's completely unacceptable
De Vere Horsley Estate

Stayed 2 nights at the De Vere and couldn't fault it. Stayed in room 105 in the Towers a beautiful building just up from the main one. The room had a wonderfully comfortable Super King bed and the room was spacious and well catered for. Bathroom almost as spacious with lovely wash products/gels, and a very good hand rail installed for the step over bath with double shower attachments. Really nice breakfast selection and wonderfully will cooked breakfast. Staff wonderful and great stay was had. Note that it is nice and quiet just off the main road and ideal location for several national trust properties (Polesdon Lacey lovely) and RHS Wisley which is beautiful this time of year. All within a 20 min drive. Thanks to all at the De Vere!
