Lato Annex Boutique Rooms

Heraklion|0.1km from Museum of Ancient Greek Technology
I had a pleasant 7 night stay here at this accommodation while in Heraklion, Crete. It belongs to the Lato Boutique, which is the main hotel. The Annex is right opposite and required card access to enter. Room was the Economy room (15 sq. metres), a little on the small side, but good enough for a solo traveller. The room was right next to the stairwell and the lift, so there were times I could hear people moving about, but at night it was very quiet, and there were no sleep disruptions. Bed was comfy, air-conditioning was also good. The shower was also good, with shampoo and soap provided, though I noticed it was running a little low towards the end of my stay (i.e., no refills were done). I also appreciated that a luggage rack was provided, along with two bottles of water on check-in day. Fridge was big enough to fit lots of mineral water bottles to keep them cold, which would be a great reprieve in the summer time. Room safe was incredibly huge as well, it can easily store laptops securely, if needed. The elevator door got stuck on the day of check-out, but still worked, so not too big of an issue there. Wi-Fi requires a special code that you can get from the reception. My first code strangely stopped working after two days, but was promptly rectified after I informed the reception of the issue. There were no other connectivity issues for me. The hotel location is pretty near to the Venetian Port, and the Rocca Fortress; it is also walking distance away from the main shopping street in Heraklion and lots of good eating places nearby. There are also supermarkets nearby to get water as well. It does get quiet at night, but I did not encounter any incidents that made me feel unsafe. My room came with buffet breakfast included, which is served in the main building. Breakfast starts service from 7 am onwards, and was generally quite crowded at the start. Depending on the crowd level, the staff will occasionally open up a new section of the dining area. Breakfast was generally good, there was a good spread of American breakfast items, to pastries, ham and cheese and even Greek yogurt with a lot of condiments. It varied a little bit from day-to-day, but was generally the same for the most part.

Lots of great things to say about the service and assistance..location was also convenient to buses, dining and sites...Basic room, small,no tea/coffee or waste bin outside of bathroom. No toiletries but a complimentary bottle of water day one ..no room for a chair ..just bed and desk.. very compact..Breakfast was included but stayed the same every day and options were limited. If your ok with basic then it would suit but you may be disappointed if your looking for a kettle...finally think twice if you book a city view room, it overlooks a highly trafficked street, lots of noise and a view of alleys.we picked ocean view and while the balcony was tiny the view was superb

Great hotel, the rooms were spotless, the cleaning staff were attentive and friendly, the front desk staff was cheerful and extremely helpful when I needed some meds on a Sunday. They searched for a pharmacy that was open, and then called to make sure. Great place. And the breakfast is very comprehensive!

We were equipped with all the information for our arrival before arrival. At our arrival the reception was occupied and we were very friendly. Our room was not quite ready because we arrived a little earlier than planned. We were offered a drink for the waiting time and there was a nice seating opportunity. Our room was very nice and for one night more than enough. There was a delicious hand-made greeting snack, a beautiful bottle of wine and other snacks. Water and a small coffee machine were included. Unfortunately we went up to the port very early morning. However, we have enjoyed our short stay here very much. If we want to spend a few nights again in Heraklion, this will certainly be a point of contact for us.

We were so happy that we chose these apartments for our 3 night stay in Heraklion. We were 3 families and chose the one bedroom, one bedroom suite and 2 bedroom. The apartments were very modern and furnished perfectly. The air conditioning worked extremely well and the staff were very happy and helpful. They were available to provide us as many bottles of water as we asked for and provide helpful info on anything. The location was superb, literally walk out the lobby and into the main square of Heraklion. Restaurants, shops and sightseeing right at the steps! Parking for our cars was a couple of blocks down in a parking garage (8 euros per day) with in and out privileges. A quick 5 minute drive to the ferry terminal. I would highly recommend staying here and we will definitely stay again when back in Heraklion.

I was really looking forward to this trip to Crete but my high hopes were dashed when I arrived at this hotel. We paid good money to be in the area but what we got was a second-rate dump. We did not even get to stay in the main hotel! Even though we booked more than 3 months in advance we were relegated to some hastily remodeled dirty annex across the street. No A/C in either building except in your room so eating meals or hanging out in the social area were very uncomfortable. The bathroom was so small I had to lean to the right anytime I had use the facilities because the counter overhung the toilet by a third. Hair from the previous guest was all over the bathroom so I question whether or not the room was ever cleaned. Hallways are dingy and dark with room service trays that sat in the way for days! Elevator is so small only one person can go up at a time - if you have luggage you are taking the stairs. ”Breakfast” was so bad that even though it was free my wife and I walked elsewhere to find food every morning. The bed was so hard we could only sleep for a few hours at a time before we woke up with aches and pains. To say that this experience was a major disappointment would be a massive understatement.

Very nice, maintained and new accommodation in perfect location in Heraklion. Available from the airport in about 10 minutes with taxi, located in a quiet, small side street in a quiet residential area and just a few steps to the port and the center. Although there was little deposition area or lifting options for the towels - but for two nights it wasn't so bad. Very nice host with great local tips to eat - thank you very much for the beautiful time. We would like to continue!
