Dia Apartments, room number *** (withheld due to restrictions) - self catering, Hersonissos. "With any TripAdvisor review, it's worth putting in as much detail as possible so travellers wanting to visit / stay at the place you have reviewed, get a full, non interrupted guide - this is my review of Dia Apartments in Crete, 17th - 31st August 2023." Arrived just after midnight from a relatively short transfer from Heraklion Airport and greeted by 'George'; a nice chap who covers that late afternoon / evening slot. Simple check in and then showed to our digs for the next 2 weeks. (€7 tourist tax to pay) As maisonettes go, not a bad set up. Split level bathroom / kitchen area, then up to a dining / 2 single beds then up a set of 'steep' wooden stairs to the double bedroom...little or no storage for clothes, a wardrobe but no drawer units; so if you want to live out of your semi open suitcase for your duration, this will suit you down to the ground; or use the spare single bed as a layapart store for clothing (if a family of 3 people) The wardrobe safe and Air-con is chargeable, but found after closing the bedroom window in the double bedroom, the magnetic interlock switch on the window made that all important electrical connection...seems like the last input command to the air-con unit ensured it turned on when the window was closed - you don't get much free on a package holiday, so not having to pay out €100 for air-con for 2 weeks is a brucey bonus 👍 WEATHER: I've stayed in Crete before, but way further west on the island towards Souda, but this wasn't due to holiday, but working alongside the Greek Military (there's a NATO fuelling jetty and training ship in the harbour)...and it was hot then; its averaged around 30 degrees here since arriving, so a semi - comfortable temperature and on some days, strong winds (a few Mary Poppins moments noticed with the parasols taking off) It's a relatively quiet place, with no stupid rush for the sunbeds in the morning, as each apartment has its own solarium or seating area which will catch the sun at some point during the day; however, if you pick the pool side option, there are polite signs on the concrete bases of the parasols asking you kindly not to move the them, but just put them up...thing is, to ensure we don't float off into space the earth has to rotate and the sun has a habit of moving across the sky; unless you move the parasol to keep the shade on you, you will definitely get burnt...😬 The all in "Self Catering" experience...unless you want the wrath of God bearing down on you (and considering its a self - catering set up) you cannot prepare any 'personal' food in your room and eat it whilst sat alongside the pool...a little petty if you ask me, and to be made to feel like a criminal for doing so is on another level? There is no signage indicating this FUBAR statement. OBSERVATIONS: Whilst on the subject of personal issues and purchases within the establishment, if you are a
