"I booked this hotel for my first and last day in Lhasa, and the service was absolutely fantastic! When I arrived, a security guard helped me with my luggage. On the day I left, a staff member saw I was in a hurry to catch my flight and helped carry my bags and saw me off. The hotel is clean and hygienic. Since it was my second time staying, the front desk小姐姐 (a polite way to refer to a female staff member) even upgraded me to an executive room when other rooms were available, which offered a view of the Potala Palace. The experience was truly amazing!"

Tangka Hotel (Tangka Jiudian) is next to Jokhang Temple Square, close to Jokhang Temple. The interior decoration of the hotel features in Tibetan style. This hotel offers single rooms, standard rooms and suites. Each is equipped with Internet access.The hotel's restaurant serves Chinese and Western cuisines with Tibetan cuisine as its specialty.

"Satisfactory aspects: The room was nice and had ethnic characteristics; the hotel's location was excellent (we had a travel companion with mobility issues); the service and communication were very satisfactory (there was a third-party system error with another platform regarding room extensions, but the front desk staff were very patient in communicating with them, and the receptionist, Yangji, provided excellent service; the overall service quality was also very good); the breakfast was delicious and we were very satisfied; the room cleaning was also satisfactory. -- The only unsatisfactory aspect was: the toothbrush bristles were shedding. After rinsing my mouth, 5 or 6 bristles got stuck between my teeth, and I had to stop and pull them out while rinsing. (Bringing your own toothbrush solved this problem.) -- Suggestion: If possible, if the hotel renovates again, it could add features catering to younger travelers (such as self-service laundry and a self-service bar). -- There are attractions downstairs, and you can walk to Namased Restaurant. It's conveniently located in the city center, making it easy to get around. The attached pictures show nearby attractions and restaurants."

Spring Festival Activity Preview As seasons change, warmth remains. This Horse Year Spring Festival, our Xizang and Han staff will join guests on New Year's Eve to make dumplings and *Guthuk* (Xizang's noodle soup), celebrating the arrival of the new year and sharing the warmth of reunion. Lobumtsang · Sanctuary Nestled in Xingfu Community, Chengguan District, Lhasa, Lobumtsang offers expansive views of the nearby Potala Palace. The name "Lobumtsang" originates from the owner’s Mi-nyag family heritage, meaning "Home Sheltered by the Divine Dragon." Legend has it that two centuries ago, this land was regarded as a dwelling of sacred dragons, where previous settlers met with misfortune. Yet, the owner’s grandfather settled here with his family, living in peace and prosperity—a tale cherished by locals ever since. Our boutique homestay blends authentic Xizang's style with Nepalese influences, equipped with high-quality amenities and heartfelt service. Each room is designed for comfort in all seasons, featuring a television, refrigerator, in-room safe, oxygen concentrator, humidifier, and premium brand bathroom essentials. Every piece of furniture is hand-painted by local artists with traditional Xizang's motifs, each carrying profound meanings and showcasing distinctive Xizang's artistry. Our team includes Xizang, Han, and Nepalese members, offering a diverse menu of Xizang, Chinese, Nepalese, and Western cuisine. The viewing restaurant not only overlooks the Potala Palace but also serves as a window into local daily life. At Lobumtsang, we welcome you with the warmth of home and the sincerity of Xizang, ensuring a comfortable and memorable stay in Lhasa.

"Our family of three was absolutely delighted with the triple room! It was incredibly spacious – we could spread out all three large suitcases and still have plenty of room to move around. The best part was the fantastic natural light; the big windows made the whole room bright and airy, instantly lifting our spirits. The humidifier in the room was a lifesaver at this altitude; we slept soundly without any dryness. The electric kettle heated water quickly, and we really appreciated the thoughtful touch of six complimentary bottles of mineral water! The mini-fridge was also very convenient for keeping our fruits and yogurt chilled. What truly amazed us was the hand-painted ceiling – auspicious Eight Buddhist Symbols, personally painted by a ******* artist. The colors were vibrant and brought a sense of good fortune. Waking up every day to such beautiful art made us feel incredibly blessed. These details really show how much care the hotel puts into its guests, balancing modern comfort with an authentic ******* cultural atmosphere. We had such a comfortable stay and highly recommend it to families traveling together!"

When it comes to Lhasa hotels, the ChunQiu Oxygen-Rich Hotel is highly regarded for its excellent facilities. This hotel is particularly popular with those traveling with friends.

"Pros: Hotel staff are friendly and the location is close to the main tourist district and the Potala Palace. There are restaurants available near the hotel. One thing was that I communicated with the front desk staff to not disturb me the next morning and that I will let them know when they could clean the room coz I was exhausted due to high altitude sickness and unable to sleep throughout the night, however, the cleaning staff banged on the door at 12 noon asking if they could clean the room. When I booked this hotel on Trip.com, it says also includes one afternoon tea per day, and I booked 9 nights. It turned out isn't true and was not told until I asked the front desk. The hotel staff only responded that in fact the afternoon tea has been cancelled since Dec 2025 and did not provide anything else. With this incident plus laundry only allows 5 pieces/day and doesn't wash inner wear like socks/underwear. I honestly feel that there are a lot more other choices at this price."

"I stayed at this hotel in Lhasa for several consecutive nights! What I loved most was the super spacious Tibetan-style courtyard on the first floor. I was absolutely mesmerized the moment I walked in! You can dine, enjoy sweet tea, afternoon tea, pet cats… In short, it’s perfect for leisurely spending time in Lhasa. The hotel is right on the Barkhor Street kora path, just a 3-minute walk to Jokhang Temple! I heard this used to be the Nepalese Consulate 400 years ago, and now it's the Gesar Japo Museum! Carvings, murals, and antique objects are everywhere. Exploring this heritage-listed ******* ancient building truly feels like stepping back in time. Upon check-in, there's a traditional Hada presentation. The staff are so warm and helpful, even assisting with luggage. They also offer complimentary ******* traditional clothing for photos. In the room, there's a special high-altitude welcome kit: facial masks, hair essential oil, makeup remover wipes, and more… so thoughtful for female guests! The hotel offers a self-service breakfast. The Phuntsok Khasang International Youth Hostel (Pingcuokangsang Qingnian Lvshe) is a Tibetan style hotel situated in downtown Lhasa, making transport to the Potala Palace, Jokhang Temple and Ramoche Temple highly convenient.This four-storey Lhasa hotel offers guests a venue to buy not only local specialties, but also items from India and Nepal, as well as books concerning Tibet, India and Nepal.

"Our 3-day stay in Lhasa was absolutely fantastic, especially traveling with my mom. The hotel's convenience, cleanliness, and excellent service really made our mother-daughter trip much more harmonious. - The location is incredibly convenient. It's about 1.5 kilometers to Potala Palace, Jokhang Temple, and photo shoot spots, all easily walkable. We explored Lhasa entirely on foot during our stay. - They were well-prepared for altitude sickness. The room has an oxygen concentrator that can be used for diffusion or nasal cannula. On the first night, I foolishly took a shower and felt nauseous and dizzy in the middle of the night, doubting my existence. The butler came to help me with the oxygen concentrator in the middle of the night, and I finally got two hours of sleep after using oxygen until dawn. I searched for altitude sickness on Xiaohongshu, feeling like I was on the verge of needing a hospital. The front desk on the second floor has a pulse oximeter, and I felt relieved after seeing my reading was in the 80s. - I can't praise the butlers and front desk enough; their service was perfect! It wasn't the fake kind of luxury service you often find, but genuinely thoughtful and comfortable. - The restaurant offers a beautiful view of the Potala Palace, making breakfast a delightful experience."

"Location: It's super close to Jokhang Temple, and there's a popular ******* hotpot restaurant and a night market nearby – so convenient! Service: Excellent! The cleaning lady was very enthusiastic every day! The owner was also very kind! And there's a cute, very well-behaved big dog! (Once, when I mailed something, the delivery guy sent it to the wrong hotel, and the owner enthusiastically helped me find the package! So grateful!) Cleanliness: The room was clean and tidy! I stayed for 5 consecutive days and was happy every single day! I had a wonderful vacation! Highly, highly recommend!"

"The room feels good, but a little small. It's a diffused oxygen room. Help! Haha. The service of the girl at the front desk is very good. The milk tea they make themselves is also very good. It can relieve altitude sickness. Drink more. The location is convenient. The Potala Palace and the square are on the left, and the Jokhang Temple on Barkhor Street is on the right. The Nama Sedeni restaurant nearby is also good. You can go and experience it. There is a parking lot in the basement, and parking is free. The breakfast is just average and needs to be improved. Overall it is very good, Atour is worthy of trust."

"Staying at Dongmawa Homestay was definitely the best decision I made on this trip to Tibet! 🏨The location is fantastic! From the rooftop terrace, you can have a complete view of the Potala Palace at night. Having dinner or afternoon tea with friends on the terrace while enjoying the view was incredibly pleasant! The room amenities are comparable to a five-star hotel! It has a Dyson humidifier and hairdryer. There's also a washing machine with a dryer and a small refrigerator. The diffused oxygen supply helped me sleep soundly without worrying about altitude sickness. Their breakfast was absolutely amazing—so plentiful! The owner was warm and welcoming, the room was clean and cozy, and the Tibetan-style decor was full of delightful surprises. I felt comfortable and at ease during my stay, and I'll definitely choose this place again next time I'm in Lhasa!!"

"This was my first time in Lhasa with three elderly family members. The hotel's facilities were quite complete, and although it's a bit older, it's well-maintained. The service was warm and friendly, and we were very satisfied with our stay. When we arrived, the staff at the entrance proactively helped us with our luggage. Yesterday, one of the seniors experienced some altitude sickness, and when we returned to the hotel, the front desk attendant kindly provided an oxygen tank, which effectively alleviated their symptoms. I was so busy looking after them that I forgot to take any pictures of the hotel."

WWojiaodingerThe moment I stepped into the hotel, a strong ******* ambiance embraced me. The white stupa and prayer flags in the courtyard created a serene atmosphere. The room's decor felt incredibly homey, far from the cold, impersonal hotel style, and instead filled with a sense of lived-in warmth. The solid wood furniture, wool ******* rugs, and that window overlooking Nanshan Park all contributed to a particularly comfortable stay. What touched me most was the hotel's service. The front desk lady was incredibly enthusiastic; seeing me struggling with my luggage alone, she proactively helped me carry it up and even brought me a warm cup of Rhodiola tea.

YYANG SONGNANThe room facilities were quite good, but the service attitude was very poor, which significantly lowered the overall experience. Pros: The room facilities were relatively new, with a desk and office chair, a small sofa, and convenient amenities like a microwave. Aside from a tear in the carpet, the cleanliness was acceptable. The breakfast offered a good variety, though it was quite crowded. Cons: While one can't expect too much service at this price point and positioning, it's arguably the worst service in its class! Even budget-friendly chains like HUAZHU (Huazhu Group) feel lightyears ahead. Several points of dissatisfaction: Upon check-in, there was a queue, and three people behind the counter seemed to be struggling with something. I waited behind them for a while, and no one acknowledged a new guest had arrived or came over to help. After a long time, I saw someone move to the side, so I approached. Still, no one asked if I was checking in. I walked over and asked if the previous guest was finished, and only then, after being given a look that said 'What are you doing here?', did they start processing my check-in. After taking my ID, they immediately moved to a separate counter (a clearly distinct spot) without telling me to move there. I had to awkwardly move myself. They only provided basic breakfast times for my check-in information and didn't mention anything about the complimentary drinks included in my reservation, which I didn't need anyway so I didn't ask later. The window of my room faced a fence with cigarette butts and other trash scattered below. It was arguably worse than the interior of the room, but it was a basic room type, and a view wasn't a selling point, so I didn't pay too much attention. During check-out, after returning the room card, it took a moment to confirm. No one said 'please wait' or anything, so I just awkwardly stood there. As I left, I said 'thank you,' and was ignored without even a glance. It's clear that the staff here has almost no service awareness. Perhaps this hotel is very confident in its hardware and brand power and isn't too concerned about customer feelings and feedback. However, as a traveler, especially as the last hotel on a self-driving trip along the Sichuan-Tibet highway, it was very disappointing. Almost every other hotel on this trip, expensive or cheap, despite some flaws, had a far better service attitude than this one.

GGuest UserHere's a review of my stay: **Pros:** * **Fantastic Location:** Just a 10-minute walk to Jokhang Temple/Barkhor Street, and about 2 km from Potala Palace. It's tucked away in a quiet spot but still close to the action. * **Elegant ******* Design:** The lobby features a traditional ******* white stupa, red lacquer wood carvings, and white walls. The public areas have spacious gardens, and the rooftop bar offers direct views of Potala Palace at night – perfect for photos! * **Altitude Sickness Friendly:** Each room has an independent oxygen generator (which works really well!), a humidifier, and underfloor heating. There's also a 24-hour infirmary, making you feel completely secure regarding altitude sickness. * **Excellent Service:** Butler-style service. Upon check-in, we received a Hada scarf, yak butter tea, and welcome fruits/yak yogurt. The evening ceremony (******* knife champagne opening + bonfire + Guozhuang dance) was a truly special experience. * **Thoughtful Breakfast:** A semi-buffet with à la carte options, offering a great variety and consistent quality. They had ******* tsampa, cheese dregs, yak butter tea, alongside Western Eggs Benedict. **Cons (My Real Experience):** * **Noticeable Hardware Aging:** The hotel has been open for many years. The curtains were jammed/damaged, the rain shower had weak and erratic water flow, and the floors showed wear. Maintenance seems to be lacking. * **Inconsistent Service Details:** Turndown service was perfunctory. Amenities like body lotion were an extra charge. Some public areas and guest restrooms had hygiene blind spots (dust, water stains). * **Significant Price Fluctuations:** The room rate dropped considerably on the day of booking after I had already paid, which was a poor experience for members/repeat guests. There were also occasional tour groups, which reduced the sense of privacy. * **Inconvenient Public Area Layout:** Guest rooms are spread across different buildings, meaning long walks and tiring uphill climbs.

HhohotimVery satisfied with everything, the best is the customer service, always answer all questions. Buy an oxygen tube for RMB 10/piece, and you can arrange an oxygen machine at the lobby bar to provide free oxygen. There were sanitary defects, cigarette butts were found, we don't smoke as a family, but it was acceptable, the sprinkler pipe leaked, and the water pressure increased after cleaning. GGuest UserMy stay at the Shangri-La Hotel in Lhasa was absolutely impeccable from start to finish. Every detail, from the airport pickup to daily living, dining, and transportation, showcased professionalism and warmth. I highly recommend it to anyone visiting Lhasa! The airport pickup service was punctual and attentive. The driver was calm and professional, ensuring a smooth and comfortable journey. Throughout our trip, the hotel arranged a dedicated driver to take us to Jokhang Temple and Potala Palace. The routes were well-planned, the driving was steady, and he waited patiently, allowing us to easily visit these sacred sites without any worries. I must give special praise to our butler, Zhixi. His service was incredibly meticulous and he anticipated our every need. From guiding us during check-in and offering itinerary suggestions to providing tips for high altitude, he followed up attentively throughout, always responsive to our requests. He handled every small detail with such care and thoughtfulness, making us feel completely at ease. The dining experience at the restaurant was excellent. The dishes were varied, delicious, and of high quality. A special thanks to Dekyi Wangmo for her exceptional care. Her service was warm and attentive; she proactively anticipated our needs, from taking orders to refilling tea and providing thoughtful details. The dining atmosphere was cozy and pleasant, and we enjoyed every meal thoroughly. This was especially helpful for us who experienced some altitude sickness. Standard hotel services were also top-notch. The rooms were clean and comfortable, and the staff were humble, courteous, and responded quickly. Whether it was helping with facilities, addressing requests, or providing temporary assistance, they were efficient and warm, truly making us feel at home. From airport transfers and butler service to restaurant care, the Shangri-La Hotel's exceptional dedication protected our entire journey, making our high-altitude trip warm and smooth.

GGuest UserThe hotel isn't to far from the Portola Palace (a short taxi trip). I wouldn't say its a true 4 star hotel. The room was a good size, quiet and didn't smell of cigarette smoke. The room was a little worn out; I couldn't get the TV to work, the mirror on the wet bar area was cracked, there were marks to the walls where paintings/pictures had once been. Most annoying was the shower cubicle and the shower over the bath had only cold water! On my last morning the power was off in my area of the hotel and the lift was not working due to the power outage. The hotel staff do not speak English, but one lady working on reception was especially nice and helpful and we were able to communicate by using the translation app. There are lots of restaurants near by, but next time I think I'd prefer to stay closer to the Portola Palace.
