Songhua Lake as a whole is a great ski resort. However I wish there would have been more services and support for non English speakers. Our kids didn’t want to take lessons or stay at the kids club because there weren’t any staff that can speak English. The Prince Hotel is a wonderful hotel though. Conveniently located. The ski in/out convenience was definitely a key benefit. The only drawback was the crowd during peak holidays. We will definitely come back but will avoid the Chinese holidays if we can.

There is a department store and eating district not too far from the hotel. Only about 10-15 minutes walking behind the hotel. There is Korean bbq and hot pot. In the hotel is a great hot pot restaurant as well. A little pricey, but you are eating at the hotel, and it is delicious. The staff is friendly and accommodating. We traveled to Songhuahu with another American expat family. Booked 4 rooms for two families with 7 kids and two adults. It was tight but that was expected. Xiaohui got us extra bed and blankets so everything worked out for sleeping. Only a 5 minute walk to the ski shop for rentals and then a 2 minute shuttle to the base of the slopes. This is an awesome skii experience for families. (But this region doesn’t have many English speakers so you’ll need to be able to speak Chinese or use translation software or have a translator) For this price you can’t beat this place. We came to play and ski, not hang out in the room. 😆. Breakfast was awesome if you like Chinese style buns, noodles, rice, eggs etc. Lunch and dinner options are plentiful and surprisingly affordable (US$5-10) and there are some descent beers to be found. The resort was designed by a Japanese firm so its well thought out. Bunny slopes are to the left and greens at the base. Blues are good and weave in and out of the greens if you want. There’s a separate section for blues and another for blacks with its own lift for the dads. (If you’re into double black’s you’ll Be disappointed but we were having fun with the blacks and wooded sections) there are sections for jumps too. Great variety for 3 day family skiing. The lifts even have windshields and there’s a gondola to the top. Restaurant at the top can get you a bowl of noodles for only US$5 or hit chocolate for 3. Medical care was efficient and cheap too, and the park fee comes with insurance. Don’t ask how we know. Haha. The best thing was the service from Xiaohui. We literally didn’t have to think about anything- tickets, lessons, gear. Price was market price for the season but so so easy. One of our best vacations ever. Good place for a variety of skier levels and not too crowded even at peak season.

Love Trip.com, and Holiday Inn in BeiDaHu is great, but I was wondering if the services offered to Chinese nationals can also be offered to foreigners, for instance being able to buy Ski Lifts thought the hotel. This service is only offer to Chinese nationals with a local ID Number, in addition is only offered in the app in Chinese. I went to Holiday Inn so i can ski in Beidahu, which is wonderful, but had to buy a ticket every day, go to lines, etc.... instead of having a 4 day ticket offered to Chinese id holders. It was our first time in Songhua resort. We chose Jenny apartments because it seems they were very closed to slopes and we were right. The building 2 was just in front of the ski center building and the cable car. Simple but cozy apartment. Perfect for 3-4 people. Jenny and her family were absolutely nice since the beginning: she helped us with the luggages from the nearest parking ( the apartments are in a pedestrian area so the car can’t reach the door), to get the ski pass, to get some tickets for the swimming pool… and to resolve any doubt we had. They don’t offer breakfast but there are many choices 5 minutes walking. We enjoyed a lot our time in Songhua resort! We will come back soon!!
