"The newest hotel in Medan city. Beautiful facade and lobby with a small gym and swimming pool on level 2. We had a peaceful night sleep on level 6. Didn’t hear any loud music from the 16th floor of bar/disco. The only sound we heard is the occasional train that passes on the tracks which was nice to watch. Welcome drink was appreciated on arrival. The breakfast buffet spread was lovely and extensive. It’s really walking distance to Delipark Mall. Will be back again. Our Deluxe King room was alright but we found it weird when there is a notice to inform us not to flush toilet paper in the WC so had to use the bidet."

"Booked for one night and room is big with bathtub and hotel is opposite delipark mall with lots of shops . Parking is free they will give a paper voucher to show at exit. Breakfast is huge spread and variety."

"Generally it was a pleasant stay and great experience. The engineering and housekeeping teams are fast to respond on our needs. Perhaps, the hotel could install better quality day and night curtains as we always being awake by morning and afternoon sunlight to the bedroom."

"Room is decent and comfortable for the price we paid. The hotel is located beside Indomaret and a coffee shop. At night, there is halal stall open in front of hotel for easy dinner. Suitable for travellers who only want to rest after adventuring the city."

"Service was good. I requested to change my towel on my checkout day coz the towel they replaced the previous day was not water absorbent. Though they had to ask their manager since it was my c/out day, luckily i was able to change. At least i dont have prob to wipe dry myself!😆Location of hotel is so nearby evrything! Convenient shop, mall, train station, eating place. The only cons about this place is that the main road was soo noisy even during sleeping time. And it’s soooo difficult to cross the road! This is my second time staying at the hotel. Room is a bit rundown. Old hotel i guess. But overall, it’s a gr8 place to stay at."

On our last night, we ran into a bit of trouble — the AC in our room suddenly started making loud noises in the middle of the night. Not exactly ideal when you’re hoping for a peaceful rest. But here’s what impressed me: the hotel staff handled it so well. They responded quickly, offered us a new room without hesitation, and even helped us pack and move our belongings. It’s rare to see that kind of care and attention, especially in the middle of the night. Thanks to their swift action, what could have been a frustrating night turned out to be just a minor hiccup — and we were able to get back to a restful sleep without much trouble. Hotel Design and Amenities The hotel itself is beautifully designed — modern yet inviting. We stayed in one of their Japanese-style rooms, which turned out to be a real highlight. The room had a peaceful Tatami area, adding a lovely touch of authenticity. It felt like stepping into a little corner of Japan — perfect for relaxing after a long day. Plus, the Jacuzzi in the room was an amazing bonus — just what we needed to unwind. Ramadan Dining Experience Since we visited during Ramadan, the hotel’s thoughtful approach to accommodating fasting guests was a real plus. Their Sahoor menu was fantastic — delicious, filling, and full of variety. It felt like they genuinely cared about making sure we had a satisfying start to our day. In the evenings, their iftar session was another standout. The setup — both indoors and outdoors by the pool — created a relaxed yet festive atmosphere. The menu was well-curated, offering a range of tasty dishes at a reasonable price. To top it off, their lobby café offered complimentary tea, coffee, and small iftar snacks every afternoon — a thoughtful touch that felt incredibly welcoming. Location Being right in the heart of Medan was another big win. Whether you’re exploring the city’s vibrant food scene or heading out for business, the hotel’s central location makes everything easily accessible. Room Cleanliness and Maintenance While the room itself was clean and well-maintained, I felt the bathroom could have used a bit more attention — perhaps a deeper clean to really match the otherwise high standards of the hotel. That said, this was more about my personal preference for spotless surfaces than any major issue. Ambiance and Atmosphere One interesting thing I noticed was that the hotel seemed to attract a well-dressed, elegant crowd — it felt like a place where Medan’s esteemed ladies and gentlemen regularly gathered. There was an air of sophistication that added to the charm. Final Thoughts If you’re looking for a hotel that offers more than just a place to sleep — one that makes you feel welcome and well-cared for — Grand City Hall Medan Hotel is an excellent choice. From the inviting Tatami room and Jacuzzi to their thoughtful Ramadan touches and top-notch service, this hotel truly made our stay memorable.
