OMO5 Kumamoto by Hoshino Resorts

Kumamoto|0.27km from Osake no Raizu, Sakabadori
I stayed for 2 in November 2023. It took 15 minutes by tram from Kumamoto Station (¥ 180), and 40 minutes by airport bus (difference due to traffic conditions, ¥ 1,000). Both got off at Dorimachisuji. It has just opened, the building is clean and the restaurant area is under the hotel. There are many restaurants in the hotel area. 3 There is a reception at F, and amenities are free there (toothbrush, shave, brush, etc.). It is charged with renting pajamas ¥ 200, but I felt it was a very reasonable hotel. For consecutive nights, only towels are exchanged. Breakfast was not used because I didn't have time, and I used freshly baked bread of 1 F. There is also a terrace next to it, and as you can see in the photo, you can overlook Kumamoto Castle. It seems that there are 8 types of rooms, and this time I took off my shoes and it was like a flooring 1 K. It is also suitable for desk work and there is no problem with the Wifi environment. Of course, the bath and toilet are separate. There is no problem with the hot water and drainage of the bathtub. The bed is covered with a futon on the tatami mats, and it is very comfortable to sleep in. What's interesting is that there is a washroom immediately after entering the entrance. There is a Tsuruya (department store) next door, and I didn't feel any inconvenience in procuring various souvenirs and ingredients. This hotel is recommended when you go to Kumamoto.

Kumamoto Hotel Castle

The hotel's location was the main reason why we booked the place. It was close to both Kumamon Square and Kumamotojo, the 2 things we wanted to do in Kumamoto. However, note that even though it's right next to Kumamotojo, it still takes a 15~20minute walk to the entrance because it's on the other side of the castle keep during it's repairs. The staff are wonderful and very helpful, standard level of service in Japan is just one step above every other country. The staff did valet parking for me without extra charge, and was quite helpful in helping us to get to different attractions and restaurants. Overall, the hotel is very dated and the rooms are in dire need of a full renovation. I think that is why the rates were quite reasonable. For a hotel this caliber (probably 5 stars when it was first built), we only paid around 10,000 yen per night. The issue is the rooms are really old and the carpet looks dirty and ripped. parts of the washrooms were so old the faucet looked like it's from the early 90s and with small amounts of molds in the creases. Because the hotel is old, the ventilation isn't the greatest either. One of our rooms although was non-smoking, we could smell other room's cigarette smell in our room. Overall, I don't really recommend this hotel because it's really dated, but if you are on a budget and want close amenity it's worth a shot. The staff are nice too so I feel bad for not recommending the hotel, but at the end of the day, there are just better options in Kumamoto today.
Toyoko Inn Kumamoto Sakuramachi Bus Terminal Mae

Stayed on May 6. I was lost with the location pattern, the new town, but I chose this because it was a little off the downtown area, close to the airport bus stop. As a request, I asked for a room with a good view outside the window to leave Asian group guests by phone. As a result, there was no group guest who was worried, and it was good to be assigned a room (1202) without the southeast side disorder. But many people point out that there are 1 elevators and the breakfast venue is very small I think it's miserable on a crowded day. Breakfast is small, although it is a service, and bread is only bread. The room is not very different from other Toyoko Inn. I think the location is good for transportation, food and drink and sightseeing.

The hotel room is very small and not suitable for parents and children. It's not bad for two or one person to travel, just beside the commercial street, the location is very good. The facilities are relatively old, but they are all working well. There is rice ball bread for breakfast, which is okay. Little friends have nothing to eat.

A very nice, modern hotel in the heart of the Kumamoto shopping district - very convenient location, right at the cross section of the two major covered shopping thoroughfares. Check-in only at 3pm and is an automated check-in/check-out system. Staff are very helpful and friendly. At check-in, you are free to choose your amenities from a very wide selection, including bath salts, face cleanser, moisturizer, coffee, green tea, etc. There is a giant tv in the room. No bottled water is provided. The room offers a full robe (short yukata and pants!). The rooms itself are very modern and renovated. There are two Family Marts and a 7-11 within a block of the hotel, as well as many dining and retail options within short walking distance. It is about a 15 minute walk to Kumamoto Castle and a 30 minute walk to Kumamoto Station.
GR Hotel Ginzadori

We stayed at the GR Hotel for one night while in Kumamoto. I would say it was an average stay, nothing really stood out but we were satisfied with our stay. The check in and out process was easy. The hallways smelled of smoke but the rooms did not. I felt the room was a bit out dated but the bed was fine and it had all the necessary amenities. The location was great as it was an easy walk to the shopping streets and castle.
Daiwa Roynet Hotel Kumamoto

The hotel has a good breakfast buffet and a great variety of choices for non-Japanese people. The hotel is located in the front parking area, but the reception has agreements with a partner located a little further for 1200 yens in 24 hours. I thank the two people who tried to solve a ferry booking request, which I could not do on two websites alone completely in Japanese.
