"The hot spring hotel is very close to Yubatake. The Yubatake is beautiful at night. The hotel's Keishi cuisine is delicious and well presented. There is also a QR code for breakfast and dinner to let you scan and explain what each dish is. They are very attentive. The hot springs are also very comfortable. They are switched between morning and evening, so you can soak in the hot springs on both sides. The waiters were very nice and provided warm hospitality. I will definitely stay here again next time I have the opportunity."
"Had great stay. 👍
Do note that the building has no lift and be cautious to lower your voice due to thin walls. Some room has no shower facilities. Overall good stay."
"It is a good accommodation, old.. You can soak in hot springs ♨️ but the temperature is too high 🥹 The room is relatively small.. Breakfast is provided and the taste is ordinary.. The location can walk to the fine soup, which is convenient.."

"Staff is extremely friendly, hotel is the mix of modern and old fashion style. Kitchen and common room are modern and clean, bath is authentic. Room is spacious and comfortable. Only thing is the location, it’s up on a hill and around 10 mins walk. So if you’re driving, recommended. If you’re taking public transport and a good walker, recommended. If not, still recommended. 10/10"
"The boss speaks fluent English. After chick-in, a bottle of milk will be given, and after chick-out, coffee will be given. Living here will bring back a lot of childhood memories. One disadvantage is that it is a bit far from Yubatake, and the second disadvantage is that the price is a bit expensive. The price we stayed at was 21,419 yen per night!"
"Nice little japanese style hotel woth great services. The hotspring in house are great for couples and families with privacy. The foods they served are quite good too."
"This is a hotel at the entrance to Sainokawara Park. The location is at the west end of Kusatsu Onsen, but it is not quiet as it is located at the entrance to the park.
The location of the hotel is a bit far from the bus terminal, but does not provide separate shuttle service. You have to climb a little up the hill.
Not a traditional ryokan building, but a ryokan style service is performed in a general hotel building.
The bedding was not very good. There were bloody traces, hair.
The view is not bad as the Kusatsu Onsen 1913 is right in the location.
Halfboard meals are served on the second floor where you can see the hotel right in front of you and hear the sound of water coming out of Sainokawara Park.
The meal was very satisfying.
Japanese dinner and breakfast are provided, and the quality is great for the price.
Rooms and facilities are not very good.
The hotel has a spoonful of ryokan style rooms, with fashion tatami and tea tables, and only toilets in the rooms.
There is no private shower or bathroom, so you have to solve it in the large bath on the first floor.
The size of the large bath is also small, so there are only two small and narrow baths, and the sauna in the large bath is not always operated.
The facilities other than the large bath are all the foot baths on the third floor.
There are only 12 rooms in total, so the service is attentive.
The staff remembers each customer and proceeds with the service."

Outstanding
GGuest UserThis was my first and only stay at a ryokan so I don’t have much to compare it to. I chose this lodging because of the cats and good reviews on the food. The cats were really sweet and I enjoyed playing with them. I have 2 cats of my own so it was really nice. The food was so beautiful and delicious - the mushroom soup at dinner was amazing. I really enjoyed it. The private bath rooms were very convenient and open 24 hrs. I thought the facilities were clean and very pleasant. The location was very close to the central area and a quick walk to all the important sites including the bus station. The only comment I have was in the morning someone was smoking and the smell got ****** into the 2nd floor hallway so maybe more care should be taken to be sure the smoke stays outside. The host was so nice and sweet and I used google translate to ask questions. The matcha madeleines are so tasty I bought a box to take with me.
RRuby.rubiesClean and tidy, comfortable to stay at
Fashionable decoration, you don't want to leave😆
After soaking in the hot spring, you can have a good workout. It's perfect for a vacation
Slow down and enjoy the next vacation
I will stay there for a few more nights if I have the chance
GGuest UserThis is a hotel with a long history since the Edo period. It is 2 minutes away from the bus station and Yuten. The hotel's meticulous service is meticulous and thoughtful, with a smile on your face, and the special apple juice is very delicious. The dinner is Kaiseki cuisine, and you can experience it one dish at a time. The food is quite rich. Special praise for Liu San who can speak Chinese. The service is very good, which makes us communicate barrier-free and feel at ease. The hot spring is also very comfortable. I have never experienced such a service-oriented hotel. Thank you again for the excellent service provided by Kusatsu Golden Green Hotel. Recommend everyone to experience it.
LLeslie CulhaneHotel Ichii is right in the heart of Kusatsu, so that is awesome. The onsen facilities are very clean and organized. However, our room was disappointing - perhaps because we are used to western style rooms. Our Japanese style room in the annex had no storage - other than the wardrobe where the yukata are stored and you could hang a couple of coats, there was nothing. Since the table in the center of the room was moved each morning and night by the staff to lay out the futons, we didn’t feel comfortable leaving a lot on the table. The futons were clearly old and the comforter on top was stained. There were only the towels meant to be used in the onsen - there were only very thin paper towels for the sink, which seemed very wasteful. Our rooms were located in the annex and while we could get hot water for the in room bath, there water in the sink was barely tepid. The smoking room on the second floor by the passage to the main building made the whole area smell. So if we hadn’t paid up front, we would have left early.

♨️ Supporting facilities
The hotel has 4 private soup houses, no reservation, see no one using you can go in and soak.

The room is clean, the sense of space is OK, fully equipped.
🍽️ Breakfast
Breakfast played normally, not many styles, but enough to taste OK, no special surprises, if you have requirements for breakfast, you can go out to Yubata to find something to eat, the choice will be more.
🛎️ Hotel Service
The staff attitude is good, basically the need to help will try to handle the communication may be a little deviation, but the overall service is sincere, will not say free drinks, supper service is genuinely courteous.
💗 Check-in experience
Soak yourself in a private bath at night is super nice, do not care about others.

SSRL13064Excellent service. I will give 10 out of 5 if I could.
There was a staff who rushed out to us and asked if we were going to stay at the Ryokan. Very helpful for lost travelers overwhelmed by the cold weather. Greeted us warmly when we arrived. Explained the important information to us as best as they could in English, which is perfectly fine.
Room was big. Decorated meticulously in the traditional Japanese style. Yukata and Obi provided added on to the immersive experience.
Dinner was exquisite. Dishes gave us a taste of what traditional Japanese cuisine was like. The food was sincere (didn’t feel like frozen / canned / ready made food), served and plated meticulously.
There were 2 onsens, indoor and outdoor. They were clean and spacious enough. Water (I believe) is from the hot spring nearby and was immensely therapeutic.
Ryokan was near the heart of the town and everything was within walking distance.
Kindly shuttled us to the bus terminal when we checked out (we didn’t have to wait for fixed timings) and carried our (heavy) luggage.
All in all, we enjoyed the one night stay very much and they set a high bar for Japanese hospitality.
GGuest UserThe location of the hotel is very convenient. You can see the hotel and find the hotel entrance when you walk to Yubatake. Dinner and breakfast are generally OK. The hotel is a bit old.
GGuest UserOverall staying in this hotel was pleasant, and it was of great value considering the package had already included dinner and breakfast buffet.
Regarding location, it was a bit far from the bus terminal by walking. It took us about 15 minutes, as the route by Google was not quite correct. The main entrance of the hotel was up on a slope, which was not as easy as we were carrying luggage.
Remember to ask the front desk for the password of the back gate. It was a short cut route leading to the main shopping street and the Kusatsu Yubatake.
The room was pleasant and clean, a bit too basic. There was only a socket near the tv wall, not close to the bed, which was a bit inconvenient.
There was wide range of food in the buffet, with some interesting local dishes. Food was delicious. The hotel also offer free late night snack noodle, which worth trying too.
JJoycewee0206Given that the hotel is abit old, the 3 star cleanliness is referring to the old facility at guy side onsen. It’s not maintain well and everything looks old. It’s 10mins walking distance to bus terminal and another 5-6mins to yubatake. Bonus point gives to free shuffle from/to daitokon with the very precise bus schedules.
Room is clean but bear in mind, it’s not non-smoking hotel so might have chance to smell cigarette smell in room. Fortunately, our room is good.
Overall we satisfy with our stay at kusatsu onsen resort.
JjohnyjohnsonLocation - about 10min walk from the bus terminal at Kusatsu station. Walkable unless it's snowy or froze on the ground as part of the path is quite steep to walk up. Not hard to find as the town is quite close to everything. About 15min walk to yubatake for the famous onsen for pictures and local food and snacks. You can walk to the Sainokawara Onsen(open air public onsen) for about 8min which is located just behind the hotel itself.
Service - they do provide transport to and from Yubatake with a specific timetable. They also have an open luggage area at the main hall if you area before check-in you could just leave the luggage and explore the town. They also have separate gender onsen with both indoor and outdoor facilities. They came around 7pm to my room to offer to set up my sleeping mattress. The dinner time was 6.45pm to 8pm and they may vary between seasons. You will be located in a seat in the dining room so don't worry about the crowd and having to fight for your seat. It's buffet style food and I read previous comments about food being cold. They aren't cold as it was heated around 60c ish but the moment food leaves the Bain Marie it will become cold especially during winter. Alcohol is included but you need to be 18 years old. They will start closing some stations including soft serve around 7.30pm so do get there earlier.
Cleanliness - just an older building and maintenance pretty ok. You could tell from the design it's a bit outdated but it wasn't dirty or messy.
Amenities - they have a Japanese sleep/bath robe at the main hall for guests to take if you need. There's no wifi in the room unfortunately and the only free wifi provided by the hotel is just located down at the main hall. I was given a Japanese style room which is pretty standard. It was on the 7th floor so it came with a pretty good view.
