Dormy Inn Nagano Natural Hot Spring

9.3/10
Great
Guest User
It was a pleasant stay as all of us enjoyed the onsen after a long day after exploring Nagano. Location is great as it’s near to the station where you can easily get onto the train and local buses. Room is a bit small for a family of 3, recommend to get a bigger room with additional bed if you have a kid.

Omeitei Tsuji Ryokan

9.1/10
Great

The ryokan is situated just a few minutes’ walk from Chusha Daimon bus stop and Kuzuryusha Shrine—an ideal location for us as we stayed for two nights and focused on visiting the five shrines and nearby local shops. The ryokan is clean, and the staff are extremely friendly and warm. A few staff members speak basic English, which was helpful. The kaiseki breakfast and dinner were delicious—be sure to arrive with an empty stomach so you can fully enjoy the many courses and variety of dishes. The onsen is cozy and relaxing. Yukata are provided, and the amenities are well stocked, making the stay very comfortable. Nearby, there is a soba noodle shop where we enjoyed a hearty meal and even ordered dessert multiple times while waiting for the snowfall to ease before continuing our shrine walk. Right next to the soba shop is a souvenir store where you can pick up a few mementos to bring home. There is also a shuttle bus available within the Togakushi area, but my brother and I chose to walk while visiting all five shrines, which was a wonderful experience. A truly lovely place to stay. Highly recommended.

Hotel JAL City Nagano

The hotel is really clean and quite spacious. The Airconditioning is centralized and we were there during winter so it’s on heater mode. The location is probably around 8-10min walk to Nagano station. They have coin laundry in the first floor. They have 2 pillows per bed, one firm and one soft.

Mercure Nagano Matsushiro Resort & Spa

8.8/10
Very Good
Guest User
Located about 20 minutes from JR Nagano Station, this hotel was a great choice for our trip, especially since we were driving. The highlight was the stunning mountain view from our room, stretching from sunrise to sunset—a beautiful and unexpected surprise. The hotel lobby feels high-class, but the rooms do show signs of age, with a dated interior. However, the onsen experience more than made up for it—spacious, relaxing, and the outdoor onsen offered an incredible view of the ice-covered mountains. A major highlight was the exceptional service. We encountered an issue with our luggage delivery, and three hotel staff members went above and beyond, patiently assisting us and coordinating with another hotel to ensure everything was sorted. Their kindness and dedication truly left a lasting impression. Overall, despite some aging aspects, I’d highly recommend this hotel and would definitely return on my next visit.

Our family with three generations very much enjoyed the food, bath, and hospitality at Yakuoin. We have very little Japanese, but felt welcome and had an English speaking guide for the morning service and tour at Zenkoji Temple.
