The room came with a microwave and a fridge, which was really convenient. The bedding was soft and comfortable, and the mattress was on the softer side, which I personally found very cozy. The lobby offered free hot coffee and soft drinks, and in the mornings, they even provided two complimentary mini-pastries per person. The hotel staff were all very helpful and enthusiastic. This is my third trip to Japan, and I honestly think this is the most satisfying hotel I've ever stayed at. Even though hotels in Tokyo are generally small, this one truly packs a punch – it has everything you could possibly need. The only minor drawback is the soundproofing; you can hear people talking loudly in the hallway from your room. However, my sleep quality is pretty good, so it didn't bother me much. If you're sensitive to noise, you might want to consider this. (I just realized I didn't take any photos of the room when writing this review, so I can only include one picture I took in front of the hotel. There's a 7-Eleven right downstairs, which is very convenient.)

This was my first trip to Japan, and I was here for a concert. This hotel was incredibly friendly; the front desk staff were kind, patient, and gentle. It was super convenient to get here from Narita. I had originally booked a hotel in Ikebukuro, but navigating a big station for the first time with luggage would have been chaotic. This hotel is visible right outside the station, which is also small, so there's no way to get lost. The area is convenient, with a McDonald's and convenience stores nearby. The Yamanote Line is right outside, making it easy to go anywhere, and Ikebukuro is just one stop away. The room itself was clean, cozy, and completely renovated. The bed was very comfortable, perfect for a solo traveler. I saw some comments saying it felt cramped, mainly because the window glass is frosted, but there is a window, and I personally found it fine. My 26-inch suitcase fit easily. I would definitely choose this hotel again for my next trip. It's also very affordable, especially when hotel prices are soaring in other parts of Tokyo.

Genuinely amazing, great location and you actually have a bit of space for your luggage. Easy to swap cleaning/do not disturb/no cleaning needed signs to save you some hassle if you are a late riser like me. Most staff are bilingual, there is a convenience store WITHIN the hotel which is also amazing. Easy access to Sunshine City, overall could not ask for a better place- you may see cheaper business hotels on your search, but I assure you the extra money you spend here makes a difference.

The location is great, the metro is maybe 1 min walk. By metro your only a few stops away from any big attractions. And after a long day in the city you can come back to enjoy the onsen. The only bad thing I can say about my stay was the someone in the capsule across from mine snored so loud it was nearly impossible to sleep.

The room was small but very clean and didn't have any strange smells. If you turn right out of the hotel, you'll find a FamilyMart, and if you turn right again after FamilyMart, you'll see a 24-hour duty-free supermarket. It's only a 2-minute walk to Sugamo Station, so getting around is incredibly convenient. The Torikizoku that's also 2 minutes from the hotel has really delicious food~ I'll definitely stay there again next time! It's also very convenient to get to Narita Airport, the route is not complicated at all!

The hotel is located on the west side of Ikebukuro. Be careful not to be misled by Google Maps when searching for an exit with luggage. Just head west and look for Exit C6 (which has up/down escalators) or Exit 14 (which has an elevator). Google Maps led me to the East Exit near Exit 38, and I had a tough time dragging my suitcases through Ikebukuro Station! There are station maps inside Ikebukuro Station that show which exits have elevators. The owner speaks Chinese, so communication was easy. It's the first time I've found a front desk that speaks Chinese after being in Japan for so long. The hotel feels more like a guesthouse and doesn't have an elevator. Guests on higher floors should be mindful of carrying luggage; fortunately, I was on the second floor this time. The common area has tables, a water dispenser, and a large refrigerator where you can store drinks or food like chocolate. Just be aware it's shared, so bag your items to prevent others from taking them. Unlike other hotels, there's no coffee machine in the common area, but instant coffee packets are available. There's also a microwave to heat up bento boxes. There are two men's and two women's shower rooms on the first floor, and another shower room on the top floor (4th floor). Fresh towels can be found in a bin near the entrance. There's no washing machine or dryer on-site. You'll need to walk across the street to a laundromat, which can be inconvenient if it's raining. The dryers at that laundromat seem more suited for large loads (starting at 8kg), which might be overkill for tourists with fewer clothes. It costs 100 yen for 8 minutes of drying. I chose to dry for 16 minutes and then took my clothes back to the hotel to air dry them overnight with the AC. If you don't mind a bit of a walk, Google Maps can show you another laundromat nearby where you can dry clothes for 10 minutes for 100 yen. Also, you need to buy detergent for 50 yen at the laundromat. (However, if the owner is around, you might be able to get a little laundry detergent from them. I once had some cotton dolls that needed cleaning and the owner helped me out with some detergent for a quick wash – just don't ask for too much.) The room is quite spacious, and the bed is wide. There's a small table for using a laptop or other items. All facilities are well-equipped. There are plenty of hooks for hanging clothes directly opposite the air conditioner, and you can adjust the airflow to help dry them. Upon entering the hotel, you need to take off your shoes and put them in the public shoe cabinet, which doesn't have a lock. There are shared slippers, but I brought my own as I felt the shared ones might not be very hygienic. Be careful not to leave your personal slippers in the common area; keep them in your room, otherwise, someone might wear them away (one of mine was taken, luckily I had another pair). When going upstairs, socks are fine. Near the hotel, there's a supermarket called Akashi Zatsujiten where you can buy inexpensive drinks, cheap fruits like bananas, and discounted bento boxes in the evening. It's open from 10:00 AM to 5:00 AM. The owner was very kind and helped me receive a package, which they placed directly in my room. It was merchandise from a Bandori Live event. A few days before the event, there weren't many Bandori fans, mostly Caucasians and Indians. But in the following days, many more Chinese people arrived, all carrying cotton dolls. You can email the hotel to ask for the package receiving address, just remember to include your name. Overall, this hotel is pretty good for Tokyo. It's close to Ikebukuro, making it convenient for travel, and also great for Bandori fans doing a pilgrimage. My suggestion for the hotel: Please add a curtain divider between the two public shower stalls downstairs. Currently, only one curtain covers both, though I haven't encountered two people showering at the same time yet.

Very cosy little apartment, in the room have washing machine which helped us a lot as a family. 3 big beds was very comfortable . Quite area within 7 min to green line metro station with which you can reach any sightseeing. Lots of combiny stores. The only thing was a bit trouble to wait for the email with apartment access code as we were traveling and not everywhere I could access to my email. If they could provide the access at list a day in advance will be much better. As they provide you with this code on the same day and only from check in time. Overall was good. It’s best to book if you’re not planning to stay in the room for whole day. Just for sleep recommended. Can’t make much noise the wall is very tin.

VvjongThe location is very good. Very close to subway, JR and Shinkansen. Many restaurants and shopping in the area including a very famous ramen downstairs. The room is clean and the onsen is as great as usual but a little small. Another issue is there is only 1 lift so it could take time to wait for lift. I did not enjoy the free ramen at night but I have no reason to question its quality! Overall, great value for money!

GGuest UserShinjuku Granbell Hotel was my accommodation choice during this Tokyo Shinjuku trip. Part of the design-oriented Granbell chain, the hotel opened in 2013 and expanded with additional rooms in 2016. It has a modern and stylish vibe overall, making it a good fit for travelers who enjoy a bit of personality and contemporary feel. The rooms are decent—not particularly spacious (typical for central Tokyo hotels), but the design is pleasant and they come with Simmons mattresses, so the bed is comfortable to sleep in. What stands out is that the hotel has a very large number of rooms (reportedly over 400 in total), making it a mid-to-large-scale property. Check-in can occasionally feel a bit busy in the lobby due to the volume of guests, but operations run smoothly. Room types are quite varied, from standard doubles to loft-style rooms, offering good flexibility when booking. Location is one of the more debated aspects of this hotel. It is very close to the heart of Shinjuku—right inside Kabukicho—so you’re surrounded by endless restaurants, izakayas, convenience stores, drugstores, and nightlife. Walking distance covers popular spots like Korean Town in Okubo or Golden Gai, which makes evening strolls and late-night eating extremely convenient. However, if you rely on the subway, the nearest station (Higashi-Shinjuku) is about a 4-minute walk (official figure), but to reach the major hubs like JR Shinjuku Station or Shinjuku-sanchome Station, it usually takes around 15 minutes on foot (depending on your exact route, and sometimes you have to navigate through the lively Kabukicho crowds). For someone who enjoys walking, it’s manageable, but dragging large luggage or walking in the rain might feel a bit inconvenient. In short, the location is highly central and vibrant, but it’s not quite “step out the door and you’re at the station” level. Room cleanliness is acceptable—daily housekeeping is thorough, with bathrooms, bedding, and floors kept in good condition, and no noticeable odors or mess. Everything feels clean and comfortable enough for a pleasant stay, but there is nothing particularly outstanding about it. The decor follows a simple modern style, facilities are standard (free Wi-Fi, air conditioning, fridge, etc.), and while functional, it doesn’t wow you. Bathrooms are on the small side (normal for Tokyo), but hot water is reliable and usage is fine. They also offer free loan of air purifiers or humidifiers, which is a nice small touch. Other minor highlights include the rooftop terrace (great for night views or a drink on clear evenings), a café, and a bar with decent atmosphere. Breakfast is an additional charge, but with so many dining options nearby, skipping the hotel breakfast is never an issue. In summary, Shinjuku Granbell Hotel isn’t a top-tier luxury property, but if you’re looking for a lively Shinjuku location, moderate design appeal, clean and practical rooms, and surroundings full of energy and food options at a mid-range budget, it’s a solid and pragmatic choice. The large number of rooms means availability tends to be reliable. While the walk to major stations takes about 15 minutes, for anyone wanting to fully immerse in Shinjuku’s nightlife and buzz, that actually becomes an advantage. Overall value for money is above average. Recommended for first-time Shinjuku visitors who want a fun, convenient, and comfortable base without breaking the bank!

CCN_NanaThe facility was great in general. Except you cant stay over the day its just for sleeping, showering and then you can leave it ln daytime, leave your stuff, as they clean and restrict the sleeping area. Otherwise it was kind of an all inclusive experience and did have a clean and nice washroom, as well as all round service. But it was a bit loud in the morning, the cleaning stuff rummages around exactly in front of the bed, talking, making noise cleaining beds 2 hours before check out.
