I don't know if it's because I was staying alone, but the room facilities were really great! The bed was big, there was a sofa, TV, microwave, and fridge! The bathtub was also big and nice! It felt like the largest bathtub I've seen in a Japanese hotel. For this price and room condition, I would definitely stay here again.
It's super convenient as it's right in front of the station. You just need to cross one crosswalk, it feels like crossing a small alley... doesn't even take a minute! The surrounding shops close early, and it's a bit far from the main street, so it was nice and quiet at night. Even the shops on the main street all close by 5 PM!
However, you might be a bit surprised when you first check-in. You just need to enter the password correctly at the front of the building and go in to check-in. There's no one there, so you might feel a bit flustered. There are stairs leading to the check-in area, so if you have a lot of luggage, I recommend leaving it downstairs, checking in first, getting your room assignment, and then moving your bags! If you get a room on the first floor, you'll have to carry them back down!
I heard there's an onsen on the rooftop, but I didn't go, so I don't know. Also, they don't clean the rooms! This didn't bother me much, but they only provide enough towels for one night, regardless of whether you stay for 3 or 4 nights. They tell you to wash them in the washing machine! To use the washing machine conveniently, it's best to shower quickly, start the laundry, and then do other things. Just rinsing, spinning, and drying takes about 2 hours and 30 minutes!
Also, unlike a hotel, there are no C-type or USB-type outlets in the room. You definitely need to bring an adapter.
It's not like hotels where the power is weak, so I was able to use my curling iron. Since it's convenient to wash towels, I would probably use this place again if I go to Yufuin.
A cozy and reasonably priced accommodation located within a 5-minute walk from Yufuin Station.

Guests who enjoy animals may find this relaxing, but those with allergies or sensitivities should take this into consideration before booking.
Please note that the building has three floors and there is no elevator.

The hotel is slightly over 1km from Kirin Lake and the shopping lane but it offers free bikes for use by guests and cycling to the attractions is a breeze from the hotel. In addition, the hotel offers booking for three of their onsen amenities - open air, semi open air and we xtra hot osen. Guest can book the preferred slot at one of the onsen location and by about 8pm, the hotel will allow guests to book any additional slots at any of their onsens. We managed to have slots for all three of the onsens, each was well maintained and provides you to have privacy of quiet onsens. There is a hotel lounge where you can have free flow of cold and old drinks too...

The hotel's location is quite far from the station, about a 25-minute walk. However, they do offer pick-up and drop-off service from the station, which we didn't arrange beforehand. Walking along the road for a stretch was a bit tough. On the upside, the surroundings of the hotel are very quiet. The room style is a bit old-fashioned but spacious. The evening onsen was great, I had it all to myself. Dinner was plentiful, but breakfast was just okay, though the dining environment was pleasant. The hotel service was decent, and the owner was quite understanding. However, the front desk staff wasn't very friendly; they wouldn't let us check in even ten minutes early. Eventually, the owner approved an early check-in. It's a nice touch that they offer a free shuttle service to the train station when you check out.

This is a typical onsen (hot spring) hotel with over 100 years of history, so the room facilities are quite dated.
Location: The hotel is about 600 meters from Yufuin.
I booked a stay with dinner and breakfast. The dinner was a buffet, which was excellent with a great variety of food and drinks.
For some reason, all the service staff at this onsen hotel were Nepalese. Honestly, the service and other aspects weren't as good as before. After staying in Japanese hotels for so many years, I was surprised to find thick dust on the room's table and wrinkled bedding!
Japanese service standards seem to be declining...

I didn't have high expectations, but the room was spacious and the bedding was clean. The price varies depending on the room size, layout, and type. The room we used didn't have a shower, so we had to use the hot spring facilities to wash up. Since I was planning to use the hot spring in the evening and morning anyway, it wasn't a big deal for me. However, my husband, who isn't a big fan of hot springs, had to make a special trip to the hot spring just to shower.
The room was quite spacious, allowing us to open two large suitcases. There was also a table where we could enjoy snacks and beer. As it's an older establishment, there were some peeled wallpaper and a bit of mold. However, overall, it was a well-maintained and clean place.
There are three hot springs outside (but close by). One small one is indoors, and the two larger ones are open-air baths. If there are many guests, you might have to play a 'waiting game' to avoid crowds (though this is probably true for other places too).
Dinner and breakfast are also available. We didn't opt for them.
It's about a 5-10 minute walk to the main street, 15 minutes from Yufuin Station, and 15 minutes from Lake Kinrinko. There's a Lawson, 7-Eleven, and a supermarket within a 5-10 minute walk.
With a stay at Yufuin Country Road Youth Hostel in Yufu (Yufuin Onsen), you'll be within a 10-minute walk of Artegio and Yufuin Motorcycle Museum. This hostel is 9 mi (14.4 km) from African Safari and 14.2 mi (22.9 km) from Hells of Beppu.

The hostel was very nice and had a cozy charm to it. I also met some very nice people there. There is an Onsen in the hostel, and you can get a satisfying breakfast for around 800 Yen. The owner was very kind and offers evening walks (which I highly recommend) and a ride to the station in the morning. The only downside is that it's an around 30 minutes walk uphill from Floral Village, but the view from there is worth it.
All in all I highly recommend it!

Here's a review of my stay:
1. **Location and Amenities: A Quiet Corner with Easy Access**
The hotel is conveniently located, about a 7 to 10-minute walk from JR Yufuin Station, making it easy to find while also being away from the busiest commercial areas. Right next door is a Lawson convenience store, and there's a supermarket nearby, which is super handy for anyone who likes to grab snacks and drinks in the evening.
2. **Hot Spring Facilities: Highly Private ”Kashikiri” Experience**
This is truly the highlight of the inn! There are 5 private family hot springs (private baths), including both indoor and outdoor options. No reservations are needed; you just check if the light at the entrance is off, and if so, it's free to use.
**Tech-Savvy Management:** Guests can scan a QR code with their phone to instantly check the real-time availability of each private bath, saving you a wasted trip.
**A Small Tip:** If you're staying in winter, the path to the outdoor baths and some outdoor showering areas can feel quite cold. If you're sensitive to cold, I recommend prioritizing private baths #1-3, which are indoors.
3. **Dining Experience: A Hearty Yakiniku Feast**
We opted for the half-board plan, and dinner was enjoyed at a partner yakiniku restaurant. The wagyu beef was excellent quality and incredibly generous in portion. There was even a bonus offer of unlimited alcoholic beverages and plum wine, making it fantastic value for money. The Japanese-style breakfast the next day was also very filling, providing a great start to our day.
4. **Unique Atmosphere: A Paradise for Animal Lovers**
The inn has very gentle cats and dogs living on the premises. If you're lucky, the resident cat manager might even appear in common areas or even come by your room for a patrol. For animal-loving travelers, this sense of warmth and comfort is something other hotels simply can't replicate.
5. **Accommodation Details and Recommendations**
**Room Space:** The new wing rooms are spacious, blending modern comfort with traditional Japanese aesthetics.
Our charm lies in allowing guests to relax freely and at their own pace—more than preset schedules or arrangements from the hotel, guests can enjoy their own time according to their preferences. Located in a tranquil rural area, we are highly regarded as a lodging that offers the most beautiful views of Mount Yufu. From our proud top-floor panoramic bath, guests can enjoy breathtaking, sweeping views of Mount Yufu. In addition, there is an open-air hot spring bath where you can feel the breeze blowing through the basin, along with a sauna that has become popular in recent years. The ever-changing, picture-perfect scenery invites you into a moment of escape from the everyday, like stepping into a painting.

I really enjoyed my time here at the hotel because of the friendly service and the setting of the hotel where the stunning scenery of Yufu is upfront. It is tranquil and clean. Additionally, there is the Hot Springs where you can enjoy the nature outdoor soaking in the warm water. Highly recommend recommended.
A stay at Yufuin Baien Garden Resort places you in the heart of Yufu, within a 10-minute walk of Yufuin Stained Glass Museum and Bussanji Temple. This ryokan is 11.6 mi (18.7 km) from African Safari and 12 mi (19.4 km) from Hells of Beppu.
Take in the views from a garden and make use of amenities such as complimentary wireless internet access and shopping on site.
Enjoy a meal at the restaurant, or stay in and take advantage of the ryokan's room service (during limited hours). Local cuisine breakfasts are available daily from 8:00 AM to 8:30 AM for a fee.
Featured amenities include multilingual staff and luggage storage. Free self parking is available onsite.
Make yourself at home in one of the 26 air-conditioned rooms featuring refrigerators and flat-screen televisions. I chose this place because I wanted to visit a hot spring ryokan with my parents! It was a bit of a distance from the center of Yufuin, but it was only about a 20-minute walk, so it wasn't too strenuous! We enjoyed the scenery of the surrounding village and arrived in no time. The room condition was really great, and the hot spring bath was fantastic. My parents absolutely loved it!
A long-established inn with over 90 years of history.
We offer comfortable rooms with a gentle atmosphere, themed around the delicate and beautiful traditional colors of Japan.
For both breakfast and dinner, you can enjoy seasonal delicacies that showcase the bounty of the local region.
All five baths in the facility are available for private use.
Solo travelers are also very welcome.
GGuest User2025.03.05
It wasn't an expensive ryokan, so I didn't expect much, but I was satisfied and had a good rest.
It took about 5 minutes to walk from the station, but it was easy to find because you just have to go straight down, and the room was also satisfactory.
I tried the kotatsu for the first time, and the heating was really warm.
I used the hot springs, the most popular one in the evening, and the small indoor hot spring in the morning. The most popular one is always crowded and is closed during dinner time, but I was able to go in after eating dinner and waiting for less than an hour on the chair in front of me.
They set a dinner time, but I was at 6:30, and it seems to be open from 6, but it seems like the first person who had dinner around 7:20 was the one who used it. I think it's about 30 to 50 minutes per time slot, so you can wait.
I didn't eat breakfast because I slept in late.

GGuest UserWe checked in on 15 Jan, 2026 and planned to stay at the hotel for a nite. When we arrived the railway station , we walked around for a while and got a taxi outside the railway station to the hotel without paying the fare. Probably the hotel had arranged with the taxi drivers in that area that they will pay the fare directly. The check-in procedure is easy and comfy. 2 staff lead us to our room 小樓球。It’s a very nice room with 2 private onsen. The spring water is nice and made our skin very smooth. The hotel had arranged enough drinks for us, 3 alcoholic and 3 nonalcoholic. We had our dinner at ard 7pm. The presentation of the good is very good & eye catching. However, the quality of the sashimi was not very fresh. Taste of the tuna was a bit fishy and it’s wet and found bloody water after picked it up from the dish😓. I don’t eat beef and the hotel changed the 5 pcs of wagu to 3pcs of eel which didn’t taste very well. Not sure whether they grill it or not. Also they changed the beef that served with rice to miso and I didn’t think it’s fair enough. The breakfast on the next morning was up to standard. Bread was fresh and hot. Egg and sausage were quite good. Overall, service is good but the standard of dinner made me disappointed as I had informed the hotel at least one week before check-in and I think they have ample of time to adjust the menu for me.
I’ve been to some other hotspring hotels with same request of not eating beef. They had changed my menu to chicken, pork or seafood like fish or shrimp and provide the equivalent size of meat for replacement.
JJennawwwwwBecause I have some restrictions on my diet, the hotel can help adjust it, and will take the initiative to ask, I feel very good. The hot spring in the room is great, but for the adjustment of the hot spring water temperature, please do not refer to the instructions in the room, because the water from the faucet can only be added cold water, if the hot spring is not hot enough, please call the counter directly, someone will help adjust.
The location of the hotel is a climb away from the lively neighborhood. A mountain pepper curry oolong noodles around the hotel are very delicious and highly recommended! There are also some specialty shops around, which are much more interesting than the lively sightseeing street. ~
If you like a quiet environment, it is highly recommended!
SsmilinglilwenThis must be the biggest hotel room I have ever stayed in Japan. It is a traditional Ryokan with 3 Private Onsen available for reservation upon arrival. The scenery and ambience around the hotel were peaceful & very gorgeous. The mountain view from our room was fantastic. Besides, it took less than 10 mins walking distance to the famous Kinrik Lake! 😌🎐 Each guest could pick a 👘 for free too. The services was great and the staffs were attentive too.
We stored all our biggest luggages at Yufuin Station and only brought along light luggage because it is far away from station. Gentle reminder for the guest to book a taxi at least one day earlier before your departure. By the way, it was a lucky morning when it started to snow during our ryokan checked out! It made the Ryokan looked even more amazing! ❄️
The only regret was breakfast and dinner were both unavailable during reservation and there is no ryokan contact was available before arrival. It would be 100% if I were to taste the すきやき, Sukiyaki! 🥩🍲
YYy3Fukuoka is hotter than ever this year. After interacting with locals, I realized that although it was my first time to visit Fukuoka, it was easier and easier to get around than I imagined. I knew very early on that I wanted to include the suburbs and Yufuin in my itinerary, and I wanted to stay there for one night. I was debating whether I should soak in hot springs in the summer and find a suitable accommodation for one person, so I found this B&B. It’s true that it’s not close to the station with your luggage, and it’s a bit hard in the summer. You can soak in the outdoor hot springs in the summer, and watch the stars, which are hard to capture on your phone. I went there once in the morning and once in the evening. After putting up the sign, it became a private soup. I like the sound of creaking templates, the exquisite breakfast boxes, and buying small things near the front desk. The boss couple are very hospitable, attentive and thoughtful, and the breakfast is delicious. I read the reviews and said I must order it, and I thought so too! Make sure to buy more snacks for dinner. Many shops on Yufuin Street close one after another at 5 pm local time. Plan your itinerary well. If you want to see more attractions, you can go to the nearby Beppu to see the hot springs together, or just chill in Yufuin. Very happy. When leaving, you can have your luggage delivered to the station. In this way, you can slowly walk to Jinlin Lake in your free time, and then eat slowly all the way back to the station hahahaha. Traveling is about experiencing❤
GGuest UserStaying at this hot spring hotel during cherry blossom season created wonderful memories for my family and me. The hotel provides a convenient shuttle service—just a quick call from the station, and within 10 minutes, a car arrives to take guests directly to the hotel.
The staff were exceptionally polite and attentive. Upon noticing that my father was using a cane, they kindly arranged a room for us without stairs, ensuring a more comfortable stay. The accommodation was spacious, featuring a private onsen and a massage chair, which made the experience even more relaxing. Since the hotel is near the mountains, there were a few insects, but it wasn’t a major issue.
The food was delicious and beautifully presented, and in the morning, guests could get fresh milk with breakfast. The hotel’s location was ideal—just a short distance from the shopping street and Lake Kinrin, making it easy to explore the area.
Overall, it was a fantastic stay, and we truly enjoyed the experience.
KKYUNGROKFirst of all, the staff were so kind that I felt really good the whole time I was staying at the accommodation. ㅎㅎ
I was worried that it would be too cold to sleep in the room that included a private hot spring, but I turned on the heater and slept so it was so hot that I slept with the window open. ㅎㅎ
KKa YanA hot spring hotel with one night and two meals. It is very convenient to have a private hot spring in the room. The public bath is relatively small, but not crowded. There was no one there when I went there that morning, and I enjoyed the outdoor hot spring very comfortably. The room is in traditional Japanese style, very comfortable and hygienic. The staff does not speak English very well, but they will try their best to communicate with guests through mobile phone translation and other methods, so there is basically no problem.
The food was prepared carefully, but the dinner was not to my taste, but the breakfast was a surprise. There were free popsicles, hot spring eggs and beer. The location is far from the station, 20 minutes walk, but people usually go to Yufuin to visit Yunotsubo Street. If you walk from Yunotsubo Street, it is still okay to walk there in 10 minutes. The check-out time is 12 o'clock, which is good. After breakfast in the morning, you can go back to the room and enjoy the hot spring time in the morning before leaving.
Overall, it was a very satisfactory accommodation experience. I enjoyed the hot springs and will consider staying here again next time I visit Yufuin.
GGuest UserThis hotel is nestled in the mountains, featuring terraced rice fields, which makes for a very relaxing stay. The rooms are spacious and well-equipped; we chose a room type with an indoor onsen bath. The half-board (dinner and breakfast) meals were also good, and I recommend the Japanese-style breakfast. The baths include both indoor and outdoor options, and overall, everything was very comfortable. The only downside was that when we checked in at 4 PM, we were told that the shuttle service for the next day was fully booked, and we'd have to pay for a taxi ourselves (even though there were empty vehicles available). Despite this, I would still highly recommend Hoshino Resorts KAI Yufuin for an experience.
2200852****The hotel's private hot spring bath has a wonderful ambiance, with morning mist swirling around. Breakfast and dinner are also exquisite and delicious, the Japanese service is impeccable, and the waiter speaks fluent English.
