I’ve stayed in hundreds of 3/4/5 stars hotels in the last 50 years and The Gate is the first one that does NOT provide daily cleaning service such as clearing the dust bin, replacing towels, vacuuming, new bed sheets etc. When I asked, I was told this £120 room doesn’t have this service and I have to pay extra for it! There’re pots and pans and dishes and even an oven in the room BUT no telephone! What if a guest has an emergency… a fire, a medical situation etc? The reception said guests can call using their mobiles! I gave up! What’s the costs of a hotel room phone versus those kitchen utilities? Common sense is not common these days! The hotel is also situated in a shabby sleazy neighbourhood. I rate the hotel zero! Avoid at all costs.
