"I deliberated for a long time between Hyatt and Sheraton, but ultimately chose Sheraton because it's closer to the airport for my early morning flight out of Lanzhou. The hotel is directly connected to Exit A of the Customs Station subway, making it convenient to get to various attractions and avoiding Lanzhou's notorious traffic jams.
The hotel is new and odorless, and the room is quite spacious. The decor and soft furnishings are aesthetically pleasing, with an elegant overall color scheme. I actually quite liked the geometric pattern on the floor, which some guests have criticized.
In terms of soundproofing, I wasn't disturbed by any noise around me; perhaps everyone was just considerate. The cleanliness was also satisfactory. Being on a south-facing executive floor, it overlooked the Yellow River's 'Jiziwan' bend, offering a great view.
A round-faced young woman in the executive lounge provided excellent service; she was warm and polite, though I regret not remembering her name. The young man at the front desk downstairs (Ice Wei) was also very enthusiastic and accommodating.
Downsides: The Happy Hour offerings were really disappointing. There were no edible desserts, and the juice wasn't freshly squeezed. It's a shame, especially since the pastries sold in the lobby bar downstairs are so appealing. It left those of us who paid for an executive room feeling a bit shortchanged. In this regard, it wasn't even as good as the complimentary lounge access at Andaz."
