Ideal for a 1-night stay on our way home from Southern France. You’ll have to drive about 10 min after taking the exit. Parking space is scarce, especially on Saturdays, but there’s a parking lot at about 5 min walking distance. Location is super nice near the river. Rooms are really small but the bathroom’s nicely refurbished since the first time we came there around 8 years ago. I particularly liked the shower. We had difficulty getting checked-in (the hotel uses DIY check-in after 9 or 10 pm) when we arrived at 11 pm. There’s a phone number you can call, but it’s quite hidden in the corner. They should communicate that more clearly. Also, when booking online after 10 pm via a broker (e.g. Agoda) you will always have to call that number, in order to be able to get access to your room via the DIY check-in. I’d recommend they communicate that more clearly either at the entrance or upon making the reservation online. We spent at least 10 min trying to check-in ourselves but in vain. Not easy when you’re extremely tired from a long drive. We had a minor hygiene issue when we arrived in our room, but I told them the morning after (and showed pics) and they made up for it in the way it should be, so next time we’d be near Mâcon, we would probably stay there again since the beds are quite good, and that’s what counts the most.

Took a group of wine professionals for a three night stay. Reasonable size rooms maybe slightly jaded but comfortable. Very adequate shower room and toilet. Some rooms overlook the river and there is a very nice outdoor terrace and swimming pool. Breakfast was good but could get a little busy and the evening meal options are also OK. The hotel occupies a good position just across from the riverbank and makes a good place to explore the Southern part of Burgundy. Staff were friendly and efficient and we would certainly use this hotel again if in the Maconnais.

My husband and I spent one night here. Check in took a while - one man on the desk - he was quite grumpy and rude. We were given a room on the first floor but it stank of smoke (apparently it is supposed to be a non-smoking hôtel) as well as looking like the bed had been slept in.. So went back down to cue again - eventually given another room. Smaller but quieter - although if you are staying in the week beware of building work going on at the back of the hotel. The shower door did not close so water went on the floor also we were given only two tiny bottles of shower gel (luckily I bought my own). Air con in room smelt horrid and smoky so left window open. Interesting stuffed toilet roll holder from a previous guest?? - not cleaned properly! Difficult to park out front to drop off bags and I recommend you reserve parking at the hotel . We gave breakfast a miss at 13.50euros pp preferring to stop by a local cafe.

This hotel looks unloved from the exterior so if you just drove past you probably wouldnt stop. However on the interior it is beautiful, plush, lots of art work and was very clean and tidy. We had a delux room with river view as requested although the windows are narrows. Even though it overlooked the main road ( where there was ample free parking) it was still very quiet. The decor of the room we would describe as a vintage feel, dark walls, artwork but very tastefully done. Just 50 yards away from the lovely town of Macon, with plentiful bars, restaurants and shops. To sit by the river directly opposite the hotel was very relaxing and we would return to this town and this hotel on future trips. The staff were all very helpful, friendly and spoke English. Dont be put off by 'Angleterre' being an after thought in the name of the hotel!

A little difficult to find, but once you're there it's relaxing, welcoming, and well isolated from the noise of the city. Swimming pool, terrace, baby, billiards, mini golf... you're in a little cocoon. everything is good there, the rooms, the restaurant and the breakfast too. We recommend more.
