Hotels near Honseiji in Nagano

This hotel is close to Nagano train station, the room is clean but the bed is a bit smaller than the normal queen size bed. Like the in house onsen. You msy keep your luggage at the hotel after check out, it's FOC.

We stayed here for a couple of nights and it was a really clean and comfortable hotel and just a 7 minute walk from Nagano Station, a 7 minute walk to bus stop 23 for the Snow Monkey Park and close to a variety of restaurants and bars. It is also 15/20 minutes to Zenko-Ji which is a beautiful Buddhist temple and well worth visiting. We didn’t have breakfast included during our stay but other guests said that it was really good. Our room was really clean, spacious and comfortable with a firm mattress, a tv, toiletries and a kettle. In reception you can help yourself to teas, coffee and other toiletries for free which was helpful. The staff were really friendly and patient as we don’t speak Japanese. Our room was next to the railway line but the sound proofing was excellent and it was so quiet and we had two good nights of sleep. A comfortable and clean hotel that is conveniently located for exploring Negano.

This is basically the commodization of hotels at its finest. We had four of us staying in a hotel room meant for two at a reasonable price because we were only there for two nights. Some people might complain about the squishiness or the room missing some home comforts but it truly fitted purpose fine - you get what you pay for. As noted, the hotel is incredibly convenient to the train station. Computerized check-in system, but the staff walked me through it by hand. They'd forgotten to set up the sofa bed in the first room they gave us, but when we bridged the language gap (I was asking for sheets for the sofa bed I'd then set up, which was the wrong question) they moved us into the same room with the bed already set up with sheets. They were very pleasant to deal with. When looking for somewhere to stay without breaking the bank in Nagano, I would happily stay here again.

If you come to Nagano and want to try a ryokan then this place is well worth staying. It is located along a line of shops leading up to the Zenkoji Temple, you have to walk past the large angry wooden statues on your way there. We had Room 28 which had its own on-suite shower and toilet. There are stairs to get to this upper level and the room is found after a squeaky journey on wooden floorboards. The Ryokan is not cheap but a stay is worth the experience if you can afford it. The family that runs this Ryokan are wonderful people. They are always smiling and greeting you and seem genuinely interested in you. They do not speak a lot of English but I should have made more of an effort to learn some simple Japanese phrases. One thing I can recommend is to have at least one dinner meal from this Ryokan as it is exceptional. The lovely people bring out all the courses one after another and you are full at the end. You can order sake which was the clincher for me. We walked North from the Nagano Train Station and takes about ~25 minutes. There are buses and taxis but the walk was not too difficult. If you try walking there during the night time, it can be very dark after you walk past the wooden angry statues (the Ryokan has a lantern and is on the left side as you approach the temple). The Zenkoji Temple just along from the ryokan can be visited multiple times during your stay.

Budget motel with little service or hospitality, not catered for foreigners. Key points that make up my rating: - Staff attitude is poor from start of check in, right through. Basically got given room key and left. No explaination of facilites etc. Got to room there was on english instruction for things like wi-fi, aircon, safe deposit box. Rang reception and told to check instructions on TV screen which were so hard to navigate. - Room is so tiny. Bare minimum facitities. Place is little dated and could do with a refurb. Cleanliness was ok. No drinking water in room, you have to go down to lobby and self service. - Location is good. Opposite train station about 3-5 mins walk. Nagano itself has not much attrations if you are not into going skiing. But thats not to do with this establishment. - I saw a lot of locals business men coming and going. So I get the feel this is a place for local who come from out of town to do business. Perhaps if you are stopping a night or so before heading to a skii place or something then this might be suitable for just a room at a cheap price to get you by for the night. Considering we paid around $24000yen for 3 nights, it was ok. Can't expect too much for that price.

The bus from Shinjuku station can go directly, but Nagano station was a little far from the hotel, But the hotel atmosphere was good, old but beautiful! !! !!

Location - Very close to Nagano AC. There is a large parking lot in front of the hotel, and there are more than ten tour buses parked. Lawson is very convenient for 24-hours nearby. This time I stayed in room 1013. Room - Induction room card, with automatic locking function. The space is very large, so large that there is more than enough sofa tables and chairs, and the floor can also spread out multiple suitcases, but the disadvantage is the old feeling. There is a switch outside the refrigerator door that needs to be opened to operate. There is a quick boiling pot on the cabinet. A desk and dressing table against the wall, a small TV, hair dryer, a face box, and a socket. There is a towel rack on the table. There is a remote control for controlling the lights on the round coffee table, and a triangular sign introducing the scenery outside the window. There are lamps, telephones, and two sockets on the bedside table. The bathroom is an overall bathroom with an ordinary space size. There is a toilet. The shower does not separate dry and wet, so you have to stand in the bathtub and pull up the shower curtain. The bathroom only has foam cans for washing your face and hands, as well as shampoo, hair, shower gel, and other accessories such as toothbrushes, razors, shower caps, cotton swabs, tea bags, etc., are placed in a centralized area in the lobby on the first floor. Service - Free WiFi is provided and the speed in the room is acceptable. The bathrobe is placed on the wall cabinet of the elevator hall and you can choose the right size by yourself. The hot spring is on the 2nd floor, with a large space and many seats, but the decoration is ordinary. There are special lockable lockers and free sports drinks, and the rest are generally available in the bath. Remind everyone to be careful that the outdoor bath is made of stone and be careful of scratching. There are only three elevators in the hot spring hotel in so many rooms. It will take a long time to meet a large number of group guests. Clean- The furnishings in the room are old, the wood is worn out, but it is still clean. Public spaces such as the 1 and 2 floors are beautifully decorated, and the contrast is a bit big. Sleep quality - air conditioning is difficult to adjust to a comfortable temperature, forcing the door to open the window to cool down. But when the window is opened, there will be bugs flying in by the light. The night was very quiet, a good night's sleep, and I didn't sleep much but I felt that I had enough sleep. Breakfast - Located in the large banquet hall on the 2nd floor, the number of tables is amazing, and the noisy environment like a table is like a table. Self-service, many types, some popular items have to be queued. Overall cost-effective - This time I am with a group and I can't know the price, but the chain resort hotel has a basic level. If you are on the way, you can consider it.

Nagano is a quiet city. The only tourist spot would be Zenkoji temple and chestnuts sweets. Choices of Restaurants and shops are not what tourists usually expect. This hotel is just right next to the JR and high speed train station or you could say “in the station” as there is a bridge connecting to the 2nd floor of the hotel ( reception at 1st floor). Supermarket at the station is small and just like convenient store. But there are souvenir shops in the station. So do consider and plan for dinner. The hotel also offer good deals for body massage services. In short this is a up to standard business hotel but not quite recommended for tourists.

It is located right from JR Nagano Station and you don't need an umbrella because you can use the underground passage when it rains. Tokyu Department Store and Station Building are also adjacent, and there is also a agricultural cooperative shop right next door, so I changed local apples and vegetables cheaply. The room was bright, spacious and clean, quiet and comfortable despite the station. The breakfast was large and the seasoning was good and delicious. I was able to stay at a good price by utilizing the national travel discount, but I would like to choose this place next time I stay in Nagano.

Usually I research for weeks before a trip but this was a last minute opportunity to see the snow monkeys. My train ticket was held up and so I wasn't sure I would be able to go so booked this on the train wifi on the way there. They responded quickly to a query and the key things for me were near the train station, free shuttle to the monkey park and restaurant on site. I wanted to try an Onsen so had already decided on a Royokan. The twin room was spacious and the beds comfortable. I was close to the Womens bathroom so very convient. All areas were spotlessly clean. Being winter the heating system was very effective. I could not have been happier with my choice. The staff were extremely friendly and gave me valuable advice for my first time dip. The Royokan if perfectly placed to wander to the 9 Onsen in the village and only a couple of doors from a very expensive looking hotel. I was too tired to try the restaurant in the evening but the breakfast was a great way to start the day. My only disappointment is that I could not stay longer. I would happily return to the area and if I do, I will definitely stay here again.
