Grandview Hotel New York

We stayed at the Grandview one night as our flight out of LGA was cancelled and all the airport hotels were full. We ended up having a safe and quiet night at the Grandview. Hotel staff is very courteous and helpful. They checked us in at 10 pm and checkout was at 11 am with a courtesy call at 1030 as a reminder. The double bed is small; neither my husband nor I are over 5’6” so it was fine for us, but if you are taller than that you might have a harder time! The bathroom and bed were very clean. There is coffee and tea in the lobby. Dunkin donuts was within walking distance for a nice morning coffee. We also learned that we were in the best place for asian food so treated ourselves to traditional Chinese! If it weren’t closed on Tuesdays we would have tried Metro Pho which is across the street! The front desk kindly stored our bags after our checkout so we could walk to lunch, and then afterwards called us a local driver to the airport. The Grandview Hotel made an impromptu NYC stay very nice.
Fairfield Inn by Marriott New York LaGuardia Airport/Flushing

We used it for JFK Mae night. We were able to go to the airport in 20th place. The room was clean and there was a problem with the toilet, but I changed it immediately. The people at the front desk were kind and felt good.

I stayed here for 3 nights and would stay again. The only reason I gave it 4 out of 5 stars is because the room was a little dated and worn (wall paper peeling a little). But it was clean and the bed and linens were comfortable. The other things that kind of bothered me were, no security to get to guest floors in the hotel - anyone could take the elevator up to any floor. I stayed on the 15th floor and when I wanted to go to the fitness center on the 7th floor, I had to take one elevator down to the lobby and then go to a different bank of elevators to get up to the 7th floor - weird. Finally, I'm not a fan of a light goes on when you enter the room - especially the bathroom at 2:00 in the morning. I will say the fitness center was really nice - new equipment and well stocked with cardio, weights and a cable pull down weight system. The lobby restaurant/bar was small but nice. Decent selection for breakfast and dinner and they make a mean Old Fashioned.

So, they say you get what you pay for in life, and that's the story with this hotel... Pay more and stay somewhere else.. The beds were a memory foam type, not to our taste, and they left us aching from head to toe most mornings, the en-suite in the compact rooms are, well, intimate, make sure you're comfortable with any one you're sharing with!! The first room we were given had no window, but had air-con, but when we complained (due to my partners claustrophobia) and they moved us, we ended up with a window, but no air-con... Can't speak for any of the other rooms, however, what we saw when doors were open for house keeping, they didn't look much more impressive, especially for the stupid prices they quoted us to move when we pointed out that, having stayed in hotels across the US and Europe, windows were a given.. And it seems house keeping is only 'daily' if you ask for it, which we did on day 4 and 7, if only to freshen up the room... The Wifi was non existent in the rooms, lobby and roof top bar only.. Early alarm calls most mornings, due to being under the flight path for La Guardia airport, 6am most days... Restaurant wasn't open during our 10 days residency, but the food served in the roof top bar was very good.. The male receptionist was not helpful at all, seemed to not want any bother while he was working, however the girls up top in the bar were great, even if the music was way too loud for an oldie like me... And most annoyingly, the $100 refundable deposit still hasn't been refunded, 3 WEEKS after we checked out...🤬

In Chinatown, Flushing, Queens, New York, not far from the starting point of Subway Line 7, which goes to Grand Central Station and Times Square. The hotel has a good breakfast. The front desk and service staff are all Chinese. The rooms are large and well-equipped. There is a dedicated Shuttle charges at JFK Airport. When I left the store, I sincerely told the front desk that it would definitely be a good review. So I must give it a good review. I stayed here for 4 nights and the service was attentive and meticulous.
Best Western Queens Court

Please avoid this hotel at all costs. The guest experience was certainly deplorable; it is staffed with the most indifferent and unwelcoming staff ever for a Best Western. Don't even ask for a late check-out which I did; the clerk, who was dozing off when I checked in, yelled out ”12 o'clock” when I asked how late I could check out. The room was a good size, and the television worked. The internet was efficient; you just have to figure out that the hotel's phone number is the password. Everything is on sticky notes: your key has a room number stuck on a sticky note so you will not forget (just don't lose your key}. The dead bolt on the door (I had room 702) did not work. Refrigerator worked. However, the horrors immediately occurred right before I went to bed. The noise from the street is pretty bad; lots of cars just like to honk. And there was blood on the sheets on one of the two beds. Good thing that I checked the other bed and found it was blood stained free. In the morning, prior to taking a shower, a clump of hair was in the shower. So much for the cleanliness of this place. The management sent me a sorry response when I complained about their poor cleanliness. There is a Hyatt Place right across the street from this hotel, which has a decent continental breakfast if you are of an elite status with 'World of Hyatt.” I usually don't raise the issue of a Diamond Elite in the Best Western program, but this hotel's poor record of guest service would not matter if you had the status or not. They treat you the same: like a bag of dirt. Avoid!
