We were in one of the supposed best rooms (with terrace and sea view, € 225 per night). The room was very comfortable and the room was very comfortable and the room was very comfortable. I bought a family pack for 2 adults and 2 children with access to the spa and dinner included. The check-in is only from 15 a.m. I haven't received any more specific information from the hotel. I check in around 17:00 and I am informed that children have access to the pool only from 13:00 and with the last entry at 16:30, so they couldn't go to the pool anymore. A serious failure in the hotel communication occurred because I bought a pack with access to the pool that was not possible to do. Fortunately, the receptionist who was at night was not the same and was quite understanding the situation, allowing us to enjoy the spa in the family the next day between 13 and 14:30.

Hotel céntrico y cómodo, cercano al puente romano, en la plaza del pueblo, junto al Ayuntamiento. En la trasera hay un parking grande pero es de pago hasta el sábado al mediodía, aunque hay zonas cercanas para aparcar gratuitamente. El personal de recepción es agradable. La habitación muy amplia y decorada con gusto, parece renovada, un baño grande con ducha y bañera gigante. Las almohadas son cómodas y la cama grande pero en el centro había cómo una diferencia de altura, es posible que lo formaran 2 colchones de diferente grosor o 2 somieres con el ajuste de las patas diferentes. También dispone de un sofá que se convierte en cama. Las persianas tienen tecla de subida y bajada automática. Tv grande con muchos canales. En el baño, en la zona de espejos hay poca iluminación y es escasa para maquill**** o ver con nitidez la cara.... El desayuno variado con fruta, yogures, cafés e infusiones, zumo y bollería industrial pero sabroso y embutido. No hay huevos, ni bacon ni similar, pero está bien y es suficiente para salir desayunado del hotel. Si vuelvo por la zona repetiré. El hotel dispone de bar y restaurante, que tiene buena pinta, con terraza, y se ve frecuentado por los lugareños.

We stayed on June 2019. Great hotel at an exceptional location. Because we were three we booked a junior suite which has two rooms with two bathrooms and a living room where an espresso machine was our salvation on the quest of a Cuban coffee. The best of the room was the views from every window, you could see the entire Basilica and the Santina cave from the room. Breakfast buffet was really good with variety and quality. Staff nice and professional. The proximity to the lakes allow you to wake up early and visit them before the entrance closed (Summer time). I really recommend Gran Pelayo Hotel.

To start the road up to the hotel is a bit gnarly if you follow a Sat nav but there is an alternative which is a bit easier. The secure underground parking is a massive bonus with direct access to the rooms. Check in was so easy with broken Spanish and Google translate with exceptionally friendly staff. The room on entrance was spotlessly clean with the air con running so it was already at a comfortable temperature. The room was well appointed with a fridge and hair dryer and plenty of storage. There was plenty of space around the pool with no need for the crack of dawn sun bed dash. The breakfast was a normal fair of cooked and pastries, nothing special but more than adequate however the evening meal was the same every night and quite expensive for what it was. This may be an issue if you don’t have transport away from the hotel. The position of the hotel is quite remote so it would be a mission to walk to an alternative restaurant. The views from the hotel are stunning from the outside lounge area and if you are lucky enough to have a balcony room. So the upshot of the review is great hotel, excellent friendly staff, beautiful location spotlessly clean. The only downside is the evening meal options but if you have transport this is a non issue as there are plenty of alternatives available. So, would we recommend this hotel, absolutely and can’t wait to visit again
