Botley Townhouse

I booked two months in advance, but the price was the highest. It dropped by more than 300 yuan on the day of booking (see picture). The room was on the first floor and it was extremely noisy. There were sounds of pipes upstairs, noise from the street outside the window, and the sound of doors closing on the first floor. I basically couldn't sleep at night.

The row of houses on the street is unassuming in appearance, but there's a large and very comfortable county field nearby. Both the front door and the room doors have combination locks, which the landlord provided via email beforehand. The bedding was new and the cleanliness was acceptable, but there was still a slight musty smell in the room. The kitchen is shared and is fully equipped with a coffee machine, refrigerator, and tableware. The landlord and the cleaning staff were very polite and easy-going. We didn't live together, but we met the landlord's little daughter, who was traveling with them; she was especially adorable.

This is the worst place I have stayed in during my ten days in the UK, a must stay. First of all, this is not a hotel at all, not even a B&B. It is a purely self-service B&B where you are given a password to open the door yourself. The most important thing is that the landlord’s phone number on the door cannot be reached at all. If you have any questions, no one will help you. To solve the problem, even Ctrip’s customer service has been unable to contact the landlord. In the end, the landlord was contacted through the mobile phone of the cleaner who was cleaning the house. It was quite speechless. Secondly, the room has been left unattended. After I made the reservation, it sent me a password. When I pushed the door in, I found that the previous passenger’s luggage was still in the room. I had the password and others also had the password. In this case, the safety of both my personal and property matters was compromised. There is no guarantee. Finally, this hotel is very remote. Although it says it is one kilometer away from the train station, buses and Uber cannot go there because the road to the train station is under construction, so I can only walk one kilometer with my suitcase. Facilities: The stairs are very narrow, there is no elevator, it is very troublesome to carry luggage, there is no service staff to help you, you have to rely on yourself. Don't stay here if you have big luggage. I took a shower at night and found that the bathroom light was broken and I couldn't find anyone to fix it. Hygiene: very poor. Environment: very poor. Service: Very poor, there are no waiters, and the landlord's phone has never been able to be reached.

Room 3 has a separate bathroom and a small yard outside the window, and the price is reasonable. There is also a large supermarket nearby, but it is a little far away, which is a bit unfriendly for a girl like me with a 28-inch suitcase. In addition, the road outside Oxford Railway Station is under construction and will not be completed until April 2026, so you have to go through a small road.

This was the worst accommodation experience I had on this trip. Let’s talk about the good things first: the bed is relatively large and comfortable, the bathroom is large, and the public kitchen provides necessary supplies. The bad: 1. It is at the back of the train station, far away from the city center. Due to the road construction near the train station, there is no bus to the city center, so you have to walk and the transportation is inconvenient; 2. Don't be fooled by the townhouses. Just an ordinary residence. The room is very small, and there is basically no room after opening the two suitcases. 3. The soundproofing of the room was so bad that the sounds of people walking and talking upstairs could be heard clearly until midnight. Alas😮💨
