I didn't know what to expect of this hotel, but it blew me away. The lobby was extravagant and the room was large and very comfortable. We did have a pretty nice view of the ocean, which was pleasant overall. The employees were friendly and helpful, and in my opinion the hotel itself is in a pretty good area. My only complaint (and my sole reason for giving facilities 4/5) is that the air conditioner did not work in our room. When I called down, I think the explanation was that they couldn't turn on the hotel's air conditioning just yet? I'm unsure of what they actually meant, but it was so uncomfortably hot in the room in the daytime. They had someone come in to open our window, which only helped a little bit, and when I requested to borrow a fan they told me that they were all in use but would bring me the first available one which was fine. When we returned that night the fan was in our room and had been running, so that along with the open window cooled our room considerably. But I really wish we'd been told at check in that the air conditioning was not working. Other than that (which honestly the staff handled wonderfully) our stay was unexpectedly pleasant, and we'll likely stay again when we return for another Huangdao visit.

Upon checking in, there was an English speaking guy who took me to the counter and made sure I was helped out properly. Since the front desk person didn’t speak English, the first guy stayed by my side until my check in was complete; he was very helpful and the check-in was very quick. Most of the staff was very pleasant and accommodating. In terms of dining and entertainment, the hotel has a decent location. There are plenty of convenience shops around along with some smaller restaurants; Knuckles bar happens to be just a 2 minute walk from the hotel. The room was quite spacious with a panoramic view of the city on the 33rd floor. Once I returned to my room, this view made it a very serene night. It was so much easier to unwind. Unfortunately, there was construction going on across the street in the morning. That night was my birthday and stayed out late celebrating with friends; I planned to sleep in that morning but this was just impossible. The afore mentioned construction was EXTREMELY loud, which made it very hard to even want to stay in the room. I picked up my belongings and left the room as soon as I could. The noise generated by the construction is certainly not the hotel’s fault but I would definitely not stay there knowing there is such horrible noise affecting the property.

My friend and I stayed at the Holiday Inn Express during our trip to Qingdao. Initially, we had high expectations of the hotel especially since my friend had experienced what Holiday Inn was like in a previous city which was a very good experience. However, our expectations were no met😕 at this hotel. Overall, it was not a bad stay because the hotel was at a good location (there's a mall literally behind the hotel, lots of restaurants and 5 min walk from the subway station) and the staff at the front dest were nice. However, the food, on trip.com, it notes there's western breakfast but there was not! The breakfast was a basic Chinese breakfast so we were not satisfied with the breakfast at all. Additionally, the hotel needs to be diligent about cleaning the bathrooms. You need to actually scrub the bathroom and not just wipe it down! The shower and around the face basin had mold which was very disgusting and disturbing 🤢. Please do better! Otherwise, we had a good stay. The bed and pillows were so soft, we felt like we were sleeping on clouds 😍😁. We also loved that the lobby had free popcorn for the guests to take 😄.
