"We booked a one-berth two-food package, and we can only say that this hotel is very cost-effective. The dinner was very sincere and the taste was very good! The good fish is very fresh. The room is medium in size, can open two large suitcases, clean and well managed. We took a sightseeing boat the next morning, the hotel is a 1-minute drive from the pier and a 6-minute walk. "Everything is fine except the ordered dinner...it's a trap if we are not calmed enough to see the hot pot...we ordered in the expensive beef but came out was fish! We were looking forward to that special dinner which was booked in advance early in that morning. As we asked why it was not beef? Their explanations were because sort of beef therefore replaced by fish...The point is that why didn't tell us as we sat in? We paid the most expensive price for the menu but got the common fish, if we didn't voice out...the story was ended. After the complaints, they refunded @¥2000 for that costed ¥9000 expensive meal. It is a poor meal, unfresh ingredients with fare cooking method, not valuable at the description on such expensive price!"

"The room is clean & very spacious. ..staff was also well polite,and attentive with quick response . Nice view . Point to note would be the bed - good if it is harder and not sunken in . Liked most was the onsen spa at level 1"

"It's a very big old hotel, a bit run down. The staff is friendly and helpful. It's a bit far on foot from the ”center” of Utoro (convenience store). Only one elevator for the section of the hotel I was in, is insufficient. You can have toothbrushes at will, but on the other hand to wash yourself, there is only one sample of shampoo per day. In any classic hotel that respects itself, you will find containers of soap for the body, shampoo and conditioner."

"The room is very good. It is really nice to have a five-star hotel in such an inconvenient place. I booked a one-night stay and two-night stay, but it is not very convenient on the mountain. It can only be picked up by phone at the Utoro Bus Center. Because I stayed in the Chief the night before, I had to rush to the Shiretoko Center early in the morning. I didn't want to carry my luggage. I booked a hike in the afternoon. The driver would take me to Kiki. But the luggage couldn't walk, so I wanted to go to Kiki to store my luggage first. Time was a bit tight, so the lady boss of the Chief took me up. In addition to transportation, this hotel is good, with large rooms, free hot springs, and very few people. There are free popsicles and drinks at the door, and there is a forest-themed rest area in the lobby with free coffee, chocolate cookies and cheese. As for the meals, there are many dishes, but the variety is not rich. The taste is also average, but the milk and fruit are good~"

From the moment we arrived, it became clear this experience would rival any five-star destination we’ve ever visited. Our room was a slice of paradise—spacious, serene, and offering a panoramic view of the breathtaking sea. Perfect for a moment of calm after a day of exploring. It was hard to tear ourselves away from the window, with its infinite horizon stretching beyond the blue waters. The bath experience was equally indulgent, with Dyson and Refa hairdryers in the public bath area. The soap and shampoo provided in the public baths? Luxurious, premium products that they also retail on-site. A small but significant touch that elevates this from your average onsen. Where do I even begin with the buffet? It was nothing short of culinary theatre. Imagine live cooking stations serving up dishes with the flair of a fine dining restaurant. From sashimi so fresh, it redefined how I think about lean tuna—the texture was almost reminiscent of beef!—to the incredibly generous portions of salmon roe. Each dish was top-tier, but the dessert station truly took my breath away. A unique pumpkin and sweet potato creation was the surprise highlight, and I couldn’t help but indulge in multiple helpings of the organic apple, crisp and fresh like it was picked that very morning. For fitness enthusiasts, there’s even a decent gym—a rarity for many onsen hotels. Meanwhile, the 24-hour lounge provides a range of delectable snacks, all of which are sold in their store. And though the prices may seem steep, the taste makes them worth every yen. The free daily scoop of Peter Beier ice cream was simply divine. Made with Hokkaido milk, the vanilla was already a showstopper, but the pistachio took the experience to another level. After this, it was impossible not to purchase their chocolate truffles—pricey, but easily worth the splurge. The experience extends outside the hotel, where an outdoor foot bath awaits with a view that will make you feel like you’ve entered another world. As long as the weather cooperates, this is an experience not to be missed. In short, Kitakobushi Shiretoko Hotel & Resort might officially be a 3-star, but in our hearts, it’s a five-star experience through and through. A perfect blend of luxury, nature, and comfort, it’s an onsen resort that deserves to be on every discerning traveller’s radar."
