Hotel Marseille

This hotel was the biggest surprise of our trip! The location is fantastic – right outside the station, making it super convenient to get anywhere. Plus, there's a McDonald's and a Doutor Coffee right downstairs. **Cleanliness:** I honestly didn't expect it to be very clean, but what you see is what you get. For a Japanese business hotel, the room was surprisingly spacious! **Facilities:** The front desk is quite modern. There are staff on hand, but they also have dedicated self-check-in machines, which are perfect for those who might have language barriers. **Service:** The hotel doesn't actually include breakfast, but they amazingly provide free coffee and bread! The blueberry croissants were sweet and soft, clearly freshly made and replenished daily. The coffee was also good, much better than instant! I only found out as I was leaving that the hotel is already thirty years old. If you're going to Shimoda, I highly recommend this place!

This is my third time visiting Shimoda in Izu, and I've chosen this hotel all three times. While it's small, it's incredibly convenient, being just a one-minute walk from both the train and bus stations. What's even better is that their website states no breakfast is provided, but they actually offer a complimentary breakfast, which is a really nice touch. If I come to Shimoda again, I'll definitely pick this hotel.

It was a bit pricey, and the room was a bit old, but the location was excellent and spacious. It's right by the station entrance, with a bus service center downstairs and a McDonald's accessible without even leaving the building. Plus, there are plenty of dining options and supermarkets conveniently located nearby. The free breakfast bread in the morning was absolutely delicious.
