The Samed Villa Resort must not be mistaken with the Samet Ville Resort. The latter is not the slightest in the same class as the Villa Resort. The renovated double bungalows are of the highest standards. Especially the bathrooms are of Swiss quality. The staff is very friendly, understands and speaks mostly English and is quick to serve any requests. The breakfast buffet has a lot of western dishes. The restaurant in general is delicious and not pricey at all. There are great options for lunch and dinner also nearby. There is a spa on the premises but also outdoor massage places under the trees on the sea side.

I was in Vietnam and Thailand on business, had been to this place back in December 2022 with my wife and daughter, so it was the perfect place to come for the weekend. Got a taxi from Anantara riverside resort and spa in Bangkok Saturday lunchtime to the Resort Ai Prao Pier at Rayong, 2500 thb, caught the 4pm hotel boat 660 thb for return trip. Dropped off in Ao Prao bay directly at the hotel. It makes you feel like James Bond. “Biw” greeted me like long lost friend, these are the sort of touches that make a difference to me. my cottage was 706 on the highest level with views over rooftops of cottages below and the sea. On Saturday night I eat at Kerala Coco next door, BBQ night with fire show, delicious and thrilling. the hotel has a pizza oven so I had pizza twice, the second one was a mixed seafood with huge prawns and scallops. The rooms are big, big comfortable bed, good air con, large shower, veranda with chairs and tables if you wish to watch the sunsets from there. if you have thought of going to ko samet and worry about the cost and hassle then think again, it’s super easy, wish I could have stayed for a week. I write this after catching the 3pm boat back to Rayong in the taxi.

After 16 days of traveling arrived at Ko Samet. Nice hotel with rooms right by the pool. There is some view but you can also just keep your curtains closed. Air conditioning in the room and shower that occasionally has zen quirks So not always hot water but I didn't lose sleep over that. Lovely big bed in any case. Breakfast with a view of the sea was certainly more than enough and the view fantastic.

We stayed for 4 nights here. The location was pretty good and we were right on a beach, which made it nice for swimming. They do have a great pool too. It wasn't overly busy when we were there. But there were large groups coming and going, but they weren't that noisy. The breakfast is basic, but you do get to sit out and have a fantastic view looking out over the bay. The only problem I really had with our stay was the tap water, there was a slight discoloration. I didn't drink from the tap anyways and also had bottled water. It is relatively private too. Our room was spacious enough and we could sit outside on the balcony. For me it was relaxing and in a good location. The staff were very friendly and happy to help.

Returned to Koh Samed again two years since Covid pandemic. The island resorts and businesses have been totally decimated by Covid.I stayed Vongduean beach and apart from a few Thais there was absolutely nobody there.I felt so sorry for the locals as they’ve had hardly any business for two years. On previous visits I’ve stayed in the beach bungalows but over BT3000 a night I stayed in the newer block of rooms overlooking the pool.Surprised they’ve kept the same prices as most hotels seem to be about 50% cheaper than normal due to lack of customers. The beach and the sea are wonderful with crisp white sand and azure coloured clear sea. As the resort is very quiet there we’re just a few staff.Breakfast is the usual egg station, fruit, bacon, sausage,Thai porridge plus tea and coffee set overlooking the sea. It’s a fantastic place for couples or family holidays but in my opinion the prices are far to high at present. NB To gain access to ferry/speedboat crossing to Koh Samed a negative Antigen test is required which you will be taken by side car from ferry port to local clinic takes about 20 minutes before you’re allowed to cross to Koh Samed. Overall beautiful island an hours taxi ride from Pattaya but rooms far too expensive.

It has its own small beach with good water quality. The hotel is a bit like a famous domestic hotel, but the environment and scenery are very good. The breakfast variety is not very rich, but there are generally all you need to eat, and the pasta tastes very good. Unfortunately, I got up late on the last day and didn't eat it. The attitude of the staff is very good, I like this place very much!

Comfortable location. Almost in the center of the island. Like in the distance from the noisy shopping center, but in step-to-step availability. Like not on the beach, but it is near the road. The rooms and the hotel itself have all the rest (including free shoes, carpets and beach towels). The room has free water, bonus is sneaking and juice in boxes (updated daily when cleaning). Hosts' responsive attitude to the hosts. Breakfasts may seem uniform, but hot for order and several kinds of it. Plus having a coffee machine for breakfast is a rare thing for the Yuva hotels of recent time. There is a small shop at the hotel. The truth works until 7 p.m. and the prices are slightly higher than in ”7/11,” but it is very convenient that under the hand, in the conditions of the island.

GGuest UserI’ll start by saying that the hotel’s surroundings are breathtakingly beautiful. The beach is one of the best on the island - clean and tranquil. It made spending time in the hotel a delight. And overall, we had a really memorable time - which was enhanced by exploring the island on motorbikes every day (which you can rent from the hotel). However, there are a number of areas where there could be significant scope for improvement and which, if improved, could make this a much better class of hotel. These are primarily: 1. There was repeated miscommunication with the hotel staff, who generally-speaking (with the exception of one or two receptionists) have poor English. It would of course be unreasonable to expect everyone to speak perfect English; that’s not my criticism here. But what I will say is that a lack of common language between us and the hotel staff made asking questions, even simple ones, about our trip difficult and led to mistakes. 2. The food is really poor at the hotel restaurant, Breeze. We had expensive Thai food which was inedible in part and the only bad meal which we have had during our two week stay in Thailand. Until improved, I’d suggest going to other restaurants on the island - Banana Bar is a real highlight. 3. The rooms which we were first shown to were unacceptably far away from the main hotel and up a number of flights of steps. We asked to change and were moved with no questions asked, which was a great result for us. We thought the hotel dealt with that issue brilliantly. We wondered how often they had encountered this issue having shown people to those rooms. And to be honest, those rooms shouldn’t really be hired out at all unless it is for a serious discount and it’s made clear to guests when they book. 4. Parts of the hotel feel unloved and a bit neglected to be honest - I don’t want to be too harsh here as it may be that the hotelier hasn’t been able to put as much money back into the resort following COVID and it’s aftermath. In particular, the room showers could do with an update. And generally there is an outdated feel to the hotel which could do with being modernised - the furniture in the common parts, the shower by the pool, etc. For the reasons above and taking into account the price paid for our stay, I would give Ao Prao three stars, but my lasting feeling is that with a bit more money, love and attention to detail, it could become a four or five star in the future.

GGuest UserWe stayed at the Ploy Sea a couple of weeks ago for 3 nights. The hotel was fairly quiet and so they very kindly upgraded our room to a sea view. Staff were very friendly, accommodating and welcoming. In particular a lady who worked on the front desk called Ratchadaporn. She was amazing and helped us so much. The food in the restaurant was a good standard with plenty of choice and the sea front was just idillic. Looking forward to returning again soon.

SSonnyThis hotel has the best atmosphere on the Sai Kaew Beach, but it asking price far exceeds the value of dining and service they provide. Basically, they charge close to 5-star prices for what is essentially a pretty nice 3-star hotel. Hotel staff were fine, but the staff at the beach club, which is part of the hotel, tend to be very rude to customers. They enjoy giving guests orders that do not make much sense. Other guests got yelled at for resting their legs on a chair at the their table. I came back from the beach, dried myself and changed a shirt before sitting down on a beach towel, and I was ordered to leave (by yelling) because I'm wet. I am respectful of rules and my family and I have visited many beach front properties, I do not believe we commited any violation of etiquette. I also did not see any of these ”rules” displayed near the beach club. May be this is part of their culture at the Sai Kaew Resort, but when they ask for almost USD 20 (incl. tax) for a simple plate of pasta and YELL at customers, then none of these is acceptable. PS. We stayed over 4 nights, and the breakfast buffet was swarmed by flies every morning. Their food court style free seating arrangement means we had to awkwardly hunt down tables ourselves. Again, TOTALLY NOT WORTH THE MONEY.

GGuest UserGreat location on main beach and decent beach bar area (live band WAY too loud). Room was a decent price but a bit weird: downstairs bathroom, bedroom upstairs above it. But the staff are not friendly at all, the bins & ashtrays around the resort are not emptied, the bread from the bakery is not fresh and the maids leave the corridors in a real mess during the day. But to be fair, service across the whole of Samed it pretty bad - and I’ve been going there for 35 years! But this is a place we won’t bother with a second time.

GGuest UserThe hotel has mini villa type rooms, each with a good-sized balcony to enjoy the beautiful foliage planted all around. The rooms are large, airy, sp****, and super clean. Bathroom size is good too, and all amenities are provided. The bed is one of the softest ones I've ever slept on. Absolutely loved it! Check-in and check-out was smooth, the staff is warm. There's a shortcut which takes you to the main Sai Kaew Beach in a minute's walk. It is also easily walkable (15 mins) from the main ferry pier (Nuan Thip). The hotel did not have a restaurant yet (which we knew before booking), but I did see some construction going on, so they could be adding one in the future, But there's plenty of restaurants on the beach, so no worries there. We had an immensely satisfactory and comfortable stay. Would recommend to all travelers.

GGuest UserFirst, I chose Koh Samet because I asked a local Thailand friend which island has not been overdeveloped since my early days coming to Thailand in the 1990s. His response was ”head to Koh Samet”. I looked for a value hotel on one of the more southern, less developed beaches which led me to Wong Duean Bay and the Vongdeuan Resort. The pool was a big draw. With the low tide being pretty extreme, it is really nice to have the salt water pool to cool off in and swim laps. The food seemed pretty authentic to me. With mainly Thai visitors coming in on the weekends it figures the food would be good at the Vongdeuan Resort. :) The staff were wonderful and always so fun to share a story or two with. The beach area all along the bay was extremely clean with no plastic on the beach or garbage in the water. This is a big plus when going to the shore in SE Asian countries. There are several beach restaurants but none of them had loud music, at least during the weekdays when I was there. It is definitely a sleepy and peaceful place to enjoy the water at high tide as well as the white sand beach for walks.

GGuest UserMy wife adores fresh seafood and ordered fresh shrimp and fresh squid that was listed as price by weight. When we got the very small plates of ”fresh seafood” the shrimp had been mashed up covered in breadcrumbs and deep fried until hard and the squid stir fried in garlic. These are 100b street food dishes at best The tiny plates were devoured in seconds, it was barely an appetiser. When the bill arrived we had been charged the full price for 1kg despite only having a miniscule portion. Then we were told after the event, even though the menu clearly said price by weight, that this was a mistake and it was price per plate. Be careful here, it's a beautiful location but the prices are ridiculously expensive and aimed at unsuspecting tourists. It's the most expensive squid I've had in over 10 years living in Thailand and there's much better value to be had next door

GGuest UserStayed here for 3 nights with my partner and it was awful to be honest. So we check in and are taken to our room. On entering my partner notices straight away that the floor hadn't been cleaned, there were hairs stuck to the wall, toilet seat broken, outside on the terrace, gecko faeces over the chairs, table and front of the room. The breakfast in the morning was awful, cold coffee, fried eggs which had been sat for hours under a hot lamp, really poor selection of food. My partner picked a plate up and found a slice of onion on the underneath. Once again the restaurant was filthy dirty, stains on the tiles, black grime all over the place. I was there for 3 days, on my 1st day there I watched someone spill coffee on the floor in the restaurant, the spill was still there when we left, so clearly hadn't washed the restaurant floor. I ate out for breakfast after the first day! Everyone is miserable there, staff, customer's, the place has a real negative vibe. I've travelled all over the world and have stayed in some very cheap, questionable places, in some really poor countries for not very much money, but they were better than this for the money. You will see some photos on another review of the hotel showing all this stuff, they are my partners. Please look elsewhere, this place is awful and not worth the money

GGuest UserThis is a very nice accommodation , consisting of a a main open alley with rooms on each side of the hall way , there is a reception area which sell drinks and at the end of the short alleyway there is a lovely cafe which sell fruit, coffees, smoothies , juices , and croissants and various toasts topped with fruit etc and they sell a nice burger and chips also, this is on the beach with loungers and bean bags and other options if you want to stay off the sand , some of the staff are friendly and smiley and some are not. the rooms are cleaned when requested no problem just leave your key at reception, the location is ideal , 5 minute walk to 7/11 and the village , I have to say this accommodation is idyllic with its thatch roofs and minimalistic style , I loved it here and I will stay here again , the only negative I had about the place is they didn’t clean the rubbish from the beach , the beach is the reason we go here … only 1 or 2 businesses on this beach clean the rubbish regularly , all the others do not clean up and it is unsightly , all the businesses on this island should all make sure it is clean all of the time .

TTraveloggg_eIm glad we only stayed for one night. The room was wet we had to change to other room and I found the other room wet as well. The staff didn’t take action much about the problem he only give me other key to enter the room right next to our first one, didn’t show me any concerns. Two rooms I went in had a very strong scent of mold. We stayed in the second floor so early in the morning we could hear noises from staffs downstairs, the room is not noiseproof at all. Bedsheets and towels are the only things that smells good to me so we are comfortable to sleep in and did not cancel our night here. The location was very good we had a good time at the beach and all.
