Castle Dargan is just a lovely place. never disappointed. This is our third visit in the past year. Most recent was attending a wedding and we stopped for an overnight stay. We stayed in the Sally Garden suite. Absolutely fantastic. Spacious and overlooking the golf course. A real premium feel to it The bed is unbelievably comfortable and the bathroom suite is most impressive. Entire suite was spotless Castle Dargan is so relaxing even if the weather wasn’t fully favourable for our stay. Sitting out on the balcony of the bar and restaurant looking out over the first tee and 18th hole sharing a bottle of wine was just so relaxing. A special mention to Brian and Hamilton in the bar and restaurant. Such great characters who looked after all our requests! I have to mention that breakfast is also outstanding! Roll on the next time.

We stayed at this hotel for 2 nights (Monday- Wednesday) as we had a wedding nearby. On arrival our room was not ready as this was understandable as we were in communication with the hotel before hand. We noticed that there wasn’t alot of people around and the bar looked to be closed until we asked to be served. We then check in and got told our room was just cleaned and ready for us. The room was spacious and well layed out but when my mother pulled back her bed sheets there was a black long hair on her sheet. On inspection then we came aware that it was a quick clean the house keeping staff have as there was lime scales on the kettle, rust on the lamp stand , blonde hair clips under the bed and around the floor , dirt around the bathtub area and the bath water stopper was broken off the chain which made it impossible to have a bath as we couldn’t get the stopper up. The nice and welcoming night porter did his best and i praise him for his hard work. An issue that came up was when we went for evening dinner on Tuesday evening. We weren’t terribly hungry so we said wed get something small. My mother had a starter Bruschetta and chips and I ASKED for a STARTER bbq chicken wings and chips and 2 drinks. We then got our food , Bruschetta and chips looked nice but when i received my wings i was greeted with a big bowl of wings which i didn’t want as i ordered a starter. We also received a bowl of vegetables that we didnt ask for . When it came for paying for the bill we were hit with a bill for €62.65. And that included €20.00 for the chicken wings !!!! When my mother enquired about the price, when we only asked for starter sizes she was told that it was the chef who decided the pricing. The quality of the food doesn’t match the pricing. Breakfast was another issue as you don’t have an open window to go down from 7:30-10:30 you get told a time and you be there. We got told 10:15 am to be there for breakfast so we did and we were left with no orange juice and small amount of selection for a continental breakfast. Overall our experience was poor and this is why i gave it a 2 rating. Maintenance needs to be carried out in this hotel and customer service needs to be brushed up upon as they are trying to be professional but comes across as rude.

The grounds are nice and that's about all the good I can say about my recent trip to Castle Dargan! First stop was the spa, really this place shouldn't be open to the public as nothing was working, it is not a spa it is somewhere to get basic trea**ents. The showers in the changing room had no hot water and it was actually hard to find a towel or a dressing gown as most of the lockers were empty, the sauna was broken and didn't work at all, the steam room was barely producing any steam, the hot tub had in it broken sharp bits of plastic which were very dangerous, the place was strewn with empty paper cups, we never received our glass of prosecco that was included in our deal, but worst of all (& what really lost me forever as a customer) was the attitude on the blonde receptionist! Such a rude lady, I won't just not return, I'll tell anyone who will listen how horribly bad it was! I honestly fell bad for anyone that visits this place for a special event like a birthday or anniversary, it was a complete waste of money and I left much less relaxed than I arrived. Then on to the bar for food and drinks. The waiter was a complete disaster! Too many things wrong to mention but really he had a total lack of any customer service and was completely incompetent when it came to doing his job. From barely being able to take our order to charging drinks to our order which we never received the whole thing was a washout. I have been to castle Dargan many times previously for small gatherings and larger events and I really didn't think the food was bad, I actually raved about it being excellent but unfortunately on my most recent visit I brought most of the food from the table home to my dogs as nobody could eat it. The room was absolutely freezing and I felt a bit unsafe leaving my car in the carpark as there are people staying the apar**ents that just seem to wander around the carpark at all times of the day and night and it felt odd. I really do not recommend this place to anyone, there are much nicer hotels, spas and restaurants in the area please don't waste your money on Castle Dargan or the Icon Spa. I'm incredibly disappointed as I've bought vouchers for this place as gifts for friends and family in the past thinking it would be a nice experience, never ever again!

I think I've fallen in love with Sligo and this is a lovely hotel. Thank you so much to the staff for their welcome and their kindness. Nothing was too much trouble. Dinner was delicious too. I haven't felt so relaxed in a long time. We'll be back and thank you again.

I had a really bad experience with the spa. The service of the spa has become really bad. The Greek lady was an asset in the spa. Where is she? She was amazing her skills and service was just brilliant. You guys need to hire better staff. the service is pathetic now.

We received excellent service from Aisling, Ali and Shannon. We cannot praise them enough!! They were so attentive and polite. The girls are a credit to the hotel! We had a meal with friends and it was made so much more wholesome with the service we received. Excellent experience.

We had a lovely night away here. We booked the sea**** baths in the icon spa first. Relaxing and warm with a lovely view of the golf course. Thermal suite with hot tub etc clean and quiet. The room was modern and stylish. Well kept. Hotel itself is clean and bright. The staff were very attentive and friendly. We had dinner booked for the evening which we wouldn’t rate but the breakfast the next morning was delicious. The fire alarm went off twice, once in the middle of the night. Quite a fright and the room didn’t seem to have the heating on. Would go back again though
