Compston House B & B
4.6/543 Reviews
Stayed at Compston House over the Easter weekend. Megan and John are very welcoming and friendly! Our room was clean, tidy and had everything you needed. We parked using the parking pass in the local car park and had no issues. The breakfast options were great and cooked nicely, not sure what they do to their hash browns but they are unreal! 5 stars just for the hash browns. Recommend going to The Priest Hole for dinner if you are staying here, it’s just up the road and incredible food!
YHA Grasmere Butharlyp Howe
4.2/546 Reviews
Just had a brilliant 3 night stay at Butharlyp Howe and only bad thing was not being able to stay longer. Staff were friendly/helpful and room was great. All facilities very clean and tidy. Location is faultless - just a short stroll from the village and a great start point for walks like Easedale Tarn and over to Great Langdale or shorter strolls like Ambleside. Would recommend the breakfasts which are tasty (especially the veggy sausages) and hearty and very good value.
The Daffodil Hotel & Spa
4.3/572 Reviews
1. Location, the hotel is just by the lake, but it is a 30-minute drive from Windermere, and it is far from the Lake District. 2. Some rooms can accommodate an extra bed, 15 pounds a day, including breakfast. 3, the hotel is large and has a lot of parking spaces. 4. The meal is great, classic English. 5, the hotel toiletries are good, is the British Royal Development Supplies MB, the bathroom's heating rack is open in the summer, the towel will be done overnight. Great
Cragwood Country House Hotel
4.4/568 Reviews
The hotel is located next to Brockhole Pier and has a large garden facing the lake. It is quiet and is a good place for a relaxing holiday. There is a bus stop at the entrance, which is convenient to various places, but the fare is not cheap. The rooms are small and the decoration is upscale. Breakfast is exactly the same every day. There are no commercial outlets nearby. Eating at Ambleside or Bowness. I have tried a Chinese restaurant in Bowness, and the expectations cannot be too high.
Lake View Country House
4.6/550 Reviews
Absolutely perfect stay. We booked “Holly” a wonderful ground floor room, tastefully decorated and furnished with a comfy bed and small pine table and chairs. Really stylish modern large shower room. We’ve never taken our dog to stay in accommodation before but felt at ease straight away. There was enough room for his bed and we’d brought our own bed cover just in case he jumped on our bed, but there were fleeces rolled up ready to use for doggy guests. We own our own holiday let and know how much thought and effort goes into ensuring guests are comfortable and have an enjoyable time. I can safely say Lake View is perfect. We felt really welcomed, it was a lovely and warm, quiet and comfortable stay and we’ll definitely be back! As always we read previous reviews and have to admit having a chuckle at the negative ones for Lake View. Honestly it’s about 2 mins flat from the most delicious breakfast at the Sport Inn. We’d recommend you book a table in advance for an evening meal to avoid disappointment, easy to do online. There’s a parking space with the room which is brilliant considering how much parking is at a premium in the village. Do take advantage of the location for walks too, you won’t be disappointed. (Deleted our original review and reposted because somehow it had it as 4 stars not 5 and Lake View and it’s owners thoroughly deserve a 5)
Beech Hill Hotel & Spa
3.6/5102 Reviews
Disappointing trip overall. We was due to check in at 3pm, when we arrived the staff informed us that our room wasn’t clean and ready for us. We eventually got into our room at 4.45pm, shocking really when we had a baby and spent £300 for one night. The room looked tired, also had no curtain on the window. When we raised our concerns to the deputy manager, she gave attitude and didn’t seem to handle the situation correctly. We come to the lakes every year and stay at the Beech Hill however I’m afraid this will be our last stay. However, even though are stay wasn’t great, I would like to mention the restaurant manager and restaurant staff who was very friendly and delivered a great 3 course meal.
