Guest UserThe female staff members I encountered at this hotel were all wonderful. When I booked a tent, I was told the beach would be shady in the afternoon, but I actually needed the tent more in the morning. They were very helpful and changed my reservation to the morning. When checking in, they noticed I had a small baby and proactively asked if I could wait a few hours to get a room upgrade to a sea-view room. Since I was going to Mount Laoshan that day, I checked in in the evening and was upgraded directly to a sea-view room. Many thanks to the front desk staff who checked me in and the staff who helped me book the tent. The room was also cleaned very well every day.

akulonHaving visited Qingdao many times, I thought I knew all the local attractions. However, after checking into the Shangri-La, Guest Relations Manager Cherry's recommendations for lesser-known spots unlocked a whole new way to experience Qingdao.
Tired of the overcrowded, Instagrammable sites like Zhanqiao Pier and Badaguan, I was looking for quiet, off-the-beaten-path viewpoints. Cherry, understanding my preferences, suggested heading up Signal Hill to the revolving observation deck. From there, you get a panoramic view of the old town's red roofs and azure sea, with fewer crowds – perfect for photos, and a great way to avoid large tour groups.
For dining, she recommended Grandma Haiyan's Seafood Potsticker, an old local favorite. The cuttlefish potstickers, with their thin skin and generous filling, are a hidden culinary gem on Zhongshan Road.
Cherry's communication was professional and poised, and she proactively shared tips on avoiding common tourist traps and expenses at attractions. While the hotel's accommodation quality was impeccable, it was Cherry's professional yet passionate service that truly stood out, breaking the stereotype of conventional front desk service. She thoughtfully curated a personalized itinerary for me, resulting in an exceptional experience. Definitely worthy of a five-star recommendation!

ShibazhongyingThis was the hotel I was most looking forward to on this trip. I booked it because it was a 5-star resort, hoping to relax with my parents. However, when we drove up to the entrance, there was no one to help with luggage or direct us to parking. The entrance was completely empty. I thought everyone was busy, but once inside the lobby, I saw plenty of staff, yet no one came forward to assist us. This is unheard of in any 5-star hotel I've stayed at. After we went in, my dad asked where the charging stations in the parking lot were, and if they were fast or slow chargers. The staff member couldn't answer any of his questions, saying they'd have to go ask. In the end, we had no choice but to follow the signs and find the parking ourselves.
On the bright side, the two rooms we booked could be connected by opening a door to form a single suite, which was a nice experience.
Actually, when you approached the staff for something, their attitude was good, but it felt like there were some management issues. For example, after checking out, my mother realized she had left something in the room's refrigerator. I immediately called the front desk, explaining we were driving back to get it and asking if someone could collect the item and leave it at the concierge. The front desk confirmed it was no problem.
After driving back to the hotel for about 20 minutes, my mother inquired at the concierge, but the concierge staff had no idea about it. They had to go ask the front desk, and only after getting a confirmation did they go up to the room to retrieve the item. We then waited at the hotel for almost 20 to 30 minutes, which was a very poor experience.
Overall, the environment and cleanliness were excellent. The location is in Qingdao's new district, and the surrounding area, plus the sea view terrace, added a lot of points. However, the initial bad experience significantly lowered our overall impression. I hope they can make more improvements.
Being able to see the sunrise and sunset over the sea from the room was something I really loved!
The breakfast selection was comprehensive and delicious.

Guest UserMy stay at the MGM Qingdao was an absolute delight, truly exceeding all expectations! The hotel boasts an unbeatable location in the heart of Laoshan District's financial CBD, with Laoshan Mountain at its back and the sea stretching before it. Opening the window reveals a magnificent panoramic view of Shilaoren Beach. The room facilities are impressively new; the king-sized bed with high-quality bedding made it impossible to want to get up – I especially recommend the Executive Seaview Room. You can watch the tide ebb and flow right from the sofa, and every photo you snap looks like it's straight out of a movie.
The infinity pool on the 31st floor deserves special commendation! The water is so clear you can see the patterns on the bottom, and swimming to the edge feels like you're merging with the sea and sky. There's also a wet sauna nearby to relax your muscles. The treadmills in the gym face the ocean, so you can watch the waves crash while you work out – all fatigue instantly disappears. Breakfast at the Feast restaurant, enjoyed by the floor-to-ceiling windows with fresh cucumber juice and a sea view, even made eating a fried egg feel ceremonial. The unlimited seafood at the dinner buffet was incredible; the salmon and oysters were so fresh you could taste the ocean. The macarons at the dessert bar had just the right amount of sweetness; I ate five without feeling sick of them.
The attention to detail in the service was evident: my butler, Elly, proactively asked if I needed turndown service, and clean towels were always available by the pool. Although I occasionally encountered new staff members who were still learning the ropes, the overall response time was very quick. I particularly want to praise the hotel's cultural ambiance – the art installations in the lobby incorporate elements of Qilu intangible cultural heritage, the afternoon tea desserts hide clever螺钿 (luodian, mother-of-pearl inlay) craftsmanship, and even the room's scent carries the aroma of Laoshan tea, weaving Eastern aesthetics into every corner.

Guest UserThe biggest advantage of this hotel is its location. It is situated within the Olympic Sailing Center, one of the best places to enjoy Qingdao’s most beautiful night views. In fact, this is the very spot where people come to admire the famous night scenery of May Fourth Square.
When traveling with children, one of the biggest concerns is figuring out what to do in the morning or evening that everyone can enjoy comfortably. Staying at this hotel solves that problem immediately.
Along the marina, where yachts are docked, you'll find small snack stands, people enjoying leisurely walks, and occasional live performances, creating a vibrant and picturesque atmosphere. It's a wonderful place to spend time with family while taking in the beautiful waterfront views. In the morning, you can enjoy a relaxing stroll and a cup of coffee while appreciating the peaceful scenery.
Although I didn't visit them myself, there are also luxury brand stores right next to the hotel, making shopping very convenient if that's something you're interested in.
The hotel staff were exceptionally friendly and responded to every request promptly and efficiently. I had a very comfortable stay and thoroughly enjoyed my time here.
Highly recommended.

The room was spotless, with no musty smell, and the air conditioning and hot water were consistently available all day. Katia from guest relations was friendly and allowed us to store our luggage for free. The hallway was quiet, so we had an undisturbed night's rest. Downstairs, there were plenty of restaurants and convenience stores, and transportation was convenient. Although the facilities were simple, they were well-maintained. For the same price, the quality truly stood out. It's a very cost-effective option for a short transitional stay.

Hygiene: The condition is worrying. There are hairs on the sink. One towel is hard and the other is soft (those who have stayed in hotels know what's going on). The water on the floor of the shower room is not dry. Are they really not afraid of customers slipping?
Service: The service quality of the front desk is really good. Whether it's towels or water, they can be solved in time. But the next day, when I didn't check out, the cleaning lady came to knock on the door? What does it mean? Are you chasing people away? I won't come again
