The mountain surroundings were absolutely breathtaking, with fresh crisp air that immediately washed away all our city stress. The staff were exceptionally welcoming and accommodating, always ready to help with any requests. The location was perfect for exploring the Wuling Mountain area, and we loved waking up to the sound of birds and seeing the misty mountain views every morning. The hiking trails nearby were well-maintained and offered stunning views of the landscape. Although it was a bit remote, that was exactly what we were looking for - a true escape from urban life. The local breakfast was delicious and featured fresh, organic ingredients from the area. We particularly enjoyed the evening stargazing, as the night sky was crystal clear away from city lights. This place is absolutely perfect for couples seeking a romantic getaway or anyone looking to reconnect with nature. We would definitely recommend this hidden gem to all our friends and family, and we plan to return again in the different seasons to experience the changing beauty of the mountains. GGuest UserWe hiked the Great Wall of China from Gubeikou to Jinshanling and chose this hotel to rest after the day. The accommodation is ideally located, right next to the entrance gate to the Wall. The host was very welcoming, and the room was spacious, clean, and very comfortable. All the beautiful photos you see of his establishment were taken by the host himself! Since we were there during the off-season and most shops were closed, the host offered to cook dinner and breakfast for us. He is a delicious cook. He also offers taxi services and was able to take us to Gubeikou train station the next morning for our return trip to Beijing. We are extremely grateful for this wonderful stay in Jinshanling and would gladly return!

XXimaokevinThe restaurant boasts vibrant, healthy potted plants, with no dead leaves or debris at the base, and they're on wheels, making it easy to move them for sunlight without leaving marks. The courtyard offers four slow-charging stations for electric vehicles. The parasols have three settings and a temperature display for convenient use and adjustment. The most amusing part was watching their plump geese waddling around the patio after a good meal, looking very proud. The proprietress is an excellent cook; the breakfast noodles are handmade. The owner mentioned that his mother and wife are constantly busy, very diligent, and almost have a slight obsession with cleanliness. It was truly harmonious to stay here briefly. Jinshanling Great Wall is also a place I'd love to hike again.

The host and her daughter were remarkably gracious and attentive, and generously upgraded us from a standard room to a stunning suite. The entire space was thoughtfully designed — elegant, comfortable, and immaculately maintained. The beds were impressively spacious and plush, and the bathroom felt almost futuristic in both design and functionality.
The location is equally compelling, with the Great Wall just nearby — an unforgettable sight, especially at sunrise. A practical note: it’s wise to carry cash, as electronic payments may not work for foreign visitors in the area. Also, taxis can have some difficulty reaching the hotel directly due to a barrier some distance away, though most drivers manage to work around it.
All in all, a truly memorable experience — we would gladly return.

GGuest UserWe stayed one night at Jinshanling Hanting B&B, and the location couldn’t be better—just a short walk from the Great Wall. It’s the perfect spot to catch both sunrise and sunset; the wall opened at 5 a.m. when we visited in early November. Breakfast was included, and the staff was very friendly and helpful. We’d definitely recommend staying overnight for the better light and calmer atmosphere instead of doing a day trip. There’s also a great café nearby. To find the place: walk to the entrance gate, turn right, and it’s on the right side after about 30–50 meters.

VValentin VagabondThis is a nice and clean hotel close to restaurants and shops, and they accepted me as a foreigner without a problem.
But it was the very first time on my two year long bicycle journey that I had to leave my bicycle outside the hotel in a car park. I know that China is a safe country, because there are security cameras everywhere, but if something happens to my bike, it might be the end of my journey.
The other disturbing thing was that the staff was talking very loud in the corridor at 6.30 am and I couldn't get enough sleep. Please keep in mind that people want to rest and sleep .You can talk to each other in a more polite way.

GGuest UserWe were scared of large crowds at the wall, and followimg many online recommendation we found the Jinshanling section.
This hotel is at the great location a short walk from the mid enterance to the wall section, the Gubeikou train station is also very reachable from the Beijingbei (North) train station. It is also quite affordable to reach the place by Didi (550 yuan from the Beijing airport).
The place is clean, and the food really stands out as quite amazing, the prices are also very low, for room and food. Just tell the owner you would want a breakfast and you will be served one first thing in the morning. The ladies are also super nice and very hospitable to the foreign turists.

Uun_guillouVery friendly youth hostel in the center of Chengde. The location is excellent and you can do almost anything by feet. The bar is a nice touch as they have good beers and I was able to play dice with other guests. The atmosphere was nice and evrybody left before I went to bed at midnight. The staff is great and helpful as they allowed me to change room in order to flee a very rude guest that would listen to videos on his phone without earphones very loudly. I also was able to do my laundry for a cheap price but they could invest in more hangers.
