Outstanding youth hostel. Stunning old building and some rooms had beautiful sea views. Rooms decent size and clean. Ours wasn't ensuite but the toilet was just across the corridor. Amazing powerful showers too and a fantastic breakfast. Catered well for gluten free with separate sausages, bread and a gf toaster. Decent prices at the bar and a couple of mins down the Swanage town centre. We weren't lucky enough to get into the carpark as it was full but managed to find parking 5 mins up the hill. Only negative point was how hot the rooms were, very difficult to sleep despite the comfy bed.

We stayed here for 5 nights in a private family ensuite room. A car park is adjacent to the property and we were always able to find a space. This is a beautiful Victorian building and it was a real joy to stay here. The self catering kitchen is modern and spacious, and everything worked well. The only things that were maybe missing were flat baking trays - it was tricky for people with pizzas to cook them in the ovens. Our room (Room 6) had a beautiful view of the sea and I believe that room 5 also has a good view of the sea. Our room slept 5 and had a very large shower ensuite - fabulous shower, very powerful. The only room that maybe needed slight improvement was the lounge - this is an absolutely beautiful room with wood panelling, but sadly it lacks good lighting for reading. This room could be vastly improved with 3-4 floor lamps (the type that have an uplighter and also a reading light - £65 from B&Q) We really enjoyed our stay - this is a beautiful youth hostel and perfectly placed for exploring Dorset.

I came here with family members for a short seaside break. The rooms were clean but pretty small and it was a short walk to the nearest toilets and shower rooms. The kitchen was well appointed, with 3 cooking stations, but still got quite crowded at meal times and some people were taking up so much room in the shared fridges that it was hard to find anywhere to store our fresh food items. Many families were letting their kids run riot around the hostel, making a lot of noise, even in the lounge (which I think should be for quiet activities and/or adults only). There was also a lot of thumping on the ceiling above us, which I think was people jumping off the top bunk. Not as good as our experience at Berwick YHA, but a good location (although note that the hostel is at the top of a very steep hill down to the beach, so not suitable for those with mobility issues).

Not stayed in a YHA for many year but we booked a private room. It had all we needed and the hostel had a good lounge and dining area. Our room looked across the bay and could not have been better. Clean with good facilities. Bad bits - Windows only open a few inches and it was sweltering hot. I guess it stops people leaping to their deaths but had there been a fire we wouldn't have got out of them. I wonder how many leapers there have been to cause this health and safety nonsense? As the prime reason for a YHA is to get some sleep its a bit odd that its not possible due to the heat! Only other bad bit was no evening meals available, but that wasn't a real issue as we got ready meals from Budgens. So- Please go, it's excellent, but not in summer when its hot and you need the windows open!

I have just spent four nights at this very nice, clean hostel. The self catering kitchen is very well equipped and spotlessly clean as are the toilets and showers. It is in a good location near the town and the beach. It has its own car park.

Had a lovely two night stay with my daughter fifteen year old grandson and 10 year old granddaughter the children had been to Swanage 3 times before when all they wanted was sand sea and steam trains but this time it was Tank Museum and Monkey World then fish and chips on seafront after!

A wonderful 3 night stay in spotless en-suite room. Delicious full English and continental breakfast served in lovely surroundings. Amazing staff who were incredibly friendly, helpful and always smiling and one of the reasons we will be returning to this gem of a hostel. Very clean and great facilities Beautiful views from our room of Swanage bay and across to Old Harry. Plenty to keep everyone entertained right on the door step. Amazing walk from Corfe Castle to Old Harry along the ridge. 110% recommend this fabulously friendly hostel, we can't wait to return.

YHA swanage was a lovely location with good parking and a period building lovely views from our room of Swanage bay and cliffs. Staff were helpful and friendly. Suprisingly the rooms were very warm even though the radiators were off. Facilities were more than adequate. It was a bargin staying only for one night in a private room with ensuite 2 adults and 2 children and breakfast for 4 people for under £90
