"Xiaomeijia surprised me. I stayed in Tawau for one night before going to Semporna. There were three families, 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. The price was 400 RMB. They also gave me a bunch of thoughtful snacks and new products. The kitchen was very clean. , the bathroom is also very clean, not to mention the bedroom. There is a durian stall 150 meters away. I bought 3 durians ➕ 20 mangosteens ➕ two dragon fruits for 200 ringgit. . . Eat until you are satisfied. I will come back next year, specifically to stay at Xiaomei's house for a few more days."

"When I came in, the room was amazing. The room was large and the whole was designed in Nanyang style. Every place was carefully selected. The color matching was also very beautiful. It was mainly clean and tidy. It looked very comfortable. The bedding was also very comfortable and soft. Exceeded expectations, there is a convenience store downstairs, But it was not easy to find a location by taxi. It was raining in the past at night. Fortunately, the boss and the driver found it after communicating directly."
"Highly recommended. Cheapest among hotel in Tawau. Clean, close to shop and restaurant. They sell chips and other instant food to go during night so no need to go outside. Easy to park my car."

Great
GGuest UserTransit stay to Semporna. Opposite restoran Ingat offer good chinese foods. Nearby restaurants and walking distance 10 min to wet market. Lifts available. Recommended though hotel needs upgrade.
GGuest UserWe stayed couple of nights before driving back to KK. The place is located in the center with easy access to everything however it also means it can be quite loud at night from the traffic and karaoke next door. The room had little fridge, kettle, bottles of water and coffee mix (3 in 1).
Room was on the 3rd floor with no lift. This could be a problem for somebody with mobility issue.
FFoo Tuck MengThe street in front seems to be used by motorcycles with loud modified exhaust late at night. It could be the late night eatery right opposite the hotel. What troubled me most was the fire alarm going on & off for about half hour to 45 mins at about 2 am. That was quite disturbing & I forgot to ask what happened when I checked out on December 8 morning. I was on the 4th floor
GGuest UserI had an overall pleasant stay. The service was commendable, the room was clean, and everything functioned smoothly throughout my visit. The hotel is conveniently located and provides good value for the price.
Breakfast is reasonably priced at RM15 per person, offering a variety of options including tea, coffee, cordial drinks, fresh fruits, local kuih, rice, noodles, and porridge.
The only drawback is that the hotel is a bit dated, with some visible signs of wear and tear. However, if you're not too concerned about modern aesthetics, it remains a comfortable and practical option.
Recommended for short stays or business trips!
AAnonymous UserOverall experience for a 1 nigth stay, I give it a 6/10. Staff are friendly, location is strategic (In the middle of the city), breakfast is okay. Its just that the hotel is old, run down. Here’s a few reasons;
1. When we enter the room, we were greeted by the strong smell of Mold. They put some freshener on the aircond but still, the mold smell is strong. Even the chair is moldy 🥲
2. The aircond; Its moldy. It automatically turns off every few hours (tried to turn off the timer but some buttons on the aircond remote doesn’t work). Set the temp to 16c but it feels like 24c)
3. The front light near the door is not working.
4. The remote TV is also not working, cant even change the channel or adjust the volume.
5. The toilet hose is broken.
6. The toilet floor is very slippery, IDK if its because of the soap or oil.
GGuest UserA bit old , otherwise all good , actually , the staff can turn on the AC 1 hour before guest check in , so the room won’t smell weird at the beginning .
MMeor SyazaliThe hotel is ideally located in Tawau Town, offering easy access to a variety of dining options, the grand mosque, and exciting activities in the surrounding area. With a lift providing direct access to your floor and convenient parking, the hotel ensures a hassle-free stay. Just a short walk away, there's something for everyone to enjoy. The family room is spacious, offering plenty of room for relaxation, and the air conditioning is highly efficient, keeping the environment cool and comfortable throughout your stay. Additionally, the hotel's close proximity to the grand mosque makes it an excellent choice for those looking to attend the Subuh prayer.
GGuest UserNot much to expect here, honestly — this is a very old hotel, and it shows. I stayed at Marco Polo Hotel mainly for its location, which is probably the best thing about it. It’s right in the middle of Tawau town, so you can easily walk to restaurants, shops, and the market.
The rooms are quite spacious, but they seriously need an upgrade. Furniture is old, the carpets look tired, and some of the fixtures in the bathroom don’t work properly. You can tell not much has changed in the last couple of decades.
Cleanliness is hit or miss — some areas feel okay, others not so much. I noticed some dust and mold in corners, and a few reviews I saw mentioned cockroaches (thankfully I didn’t see any during my stay, but still… not very comforting).
Staff were friendly and helpful though — probably the only saving grace. They were polite and tried their best to accommodate requests.
Wi-Fi was weak, TV didn’t have many channels, and overall amenities are outdated. If you’re just looking for a place to sleep and don’t mind the old-school vibe, it might be fine. But if you’re expecting comfort or modern standards, this isn’t it.
Would I stay again? Only if I had no other option nearby.
UUser500If you want to stay in Tawau, this is a good choice. The kettle was dirty, but the staff switched in quickly for me. Photo is the room and Semporna activities.
Zzek zakWorth for the money as a budget hotel.Friendly staff.Got lift.Near attraction place. Many restaurant and food court around the hotel. On Friday and Saturday got night market (chestar night market) distance 100 meter from the hotel. The problem is no car parking lot provided. But can park along the street behind the hotel building under own responsibility.
