We visited The Horse and Jockey for lunch this Sunday. We both ordered the Blue burger an Chips, Wow! So Good! The Burger was really tasty, never had Stilton cheese with a burger before, it was lovely. Nice amount of salad in the bun. A good portion of Chips. Lovely wellcome from the Landlady , bar staff and servers friendly and helpfull. Nice relaxing atmosphere , really enoyed our visit. We look forward to eating here again.

Went for a social drink then the Friday fish and chips. Fabulous. I live in Cornwall and found the fish and chips were better than a lot of places in Cornwall. Batter just right, fish delicious and at £20 for two a bargain. The landlord cooks pub grub at sensible prices which led to a busy evening ably coaped with by the mother and daughters. Great banter at the bar and its beginning to become the old pub it was. I wish them every success as they seem to have found a niche in the market.

Stayed after airshow at RIAT, nice big carpark and friendly host. Nice quiet room with shower and enjoyed a good cool pint in the bar. No problems getting up to go early in annex. Will be back again to enjoy the hospitality. Good value and near some lovely locations.

From the start it was clear that Dan, the new owner, had only just taken over and was fighting fires,. Despite this, it was apparent that this remains a popular and friendly iocal pub. The sheets in the room we had booked were wet (clean but not fully dried), and Dan instantly moved us to another, better room. The bed was firmer too, so this was a bonus. We had stayed twice before, so knew the room and it was much the same as previously. The shower still did hot and dribbly, or cold and faster, and there were some other relatively minor faults but basically the room was clean and liveable.Cotton sheets were a plus, as were plentiful towels, and a thoughtful Easter egg. Breakfast was not included, hence the lower price, the previous managers having provided a makeshift 'continental breakfast' in the room, which had pleased nobody. We tried breakfast on the first morning but decided to have our usual porage at Auntie's round the corner after that. We were awoken by a dawn chorus of two peacocks on all 3 mornings so the visit left me really tired. The wifi was not working but the incredibly hard working Dan assured us that a new installation was booked, and went to great lengths to divert the wifi from the bar into our room for the first night. At the price, our accommodation, having been modified, was ok, and I feel sure that by the next time we go, Dan will have got everything up to standard. I cannot comment on meals and drinks as we ate with family.

When I arrived it didn't look like a B&B, it's a pub with rooms in a separate building. I didn't sleep well (bed was springy) and couldn't work out how the shower worked. I saw in previous reviews that you get continental breakfast, but got a good vegetarian breakfast.

I booked a table purely on the trip advisor reviews - we were staying in the area. It was brilliant - our food was well cooked and presented and the service was friendly and efficient. Highly recommended.

Stayed with friends within the village decided to go to the pub for a Sunday roast, the food was fabulous with a good selection of beers and wine, the price was very reasonable for the quality of food, wish i lived closer it would definitely be my local.

7 of us were staying at a local Airbnb for a birthday weekend away and wanted to get out on the Sunday for a good lunch. We looked at a few local pubs and picked horse and jockey based on the reviews. We didn’t regret it. Delicious roast (chicken or beef with roast potatoes, carrots & parsnips, red cabbage, cauliflower cheese and Yorkshires) - great value for money, quality roast and drinks plus tips was £24 per head. Dog friendly, we took our own two and also loved saying hello to the two lovely Labrador puppies owned by the pub staff 🥰. Relaxed, friendly and efficient service from everyone. Thank you very much for a lovely afternoon.
