Just went for may day lunch and honestly can't complain. There was a reduced menu, understandable, and service was excellent. I would say the tables don't cater for 2, they're too big ...but our ham ploughmans and tomahawk pork chop was very good quality. £16/£20 respectively. It was packed after 1pm so booking advisable. We were lucky to get a table. They offer themed nights which we might try when we swing back sometime.....curry and comedy sounds fun!

I recently stayed at The George as part of a large group of club cyclists. The staff, and especially Wayne, went out of their way to look after us. They made us, and our bikes, very welcome and ensured we were well fed. Many thanks to all the staff for contributing to a great experience.

We where visiting a friend for his birthday gig at a local music venue and this place proved to be a great choice very central to Frome and only 100meters away from the venue room was clean if a little small and dated shower was nice and hot with a good selection of toiletries could have done with a soap dish in the shower though my room was nice and quite all in all most satisfied

Had 4 1/2 hours to wait for train . Sat in corner out of the way with case and wheelchair .very busy , short staffed . However, excellent meal, wonderful cheerful service , whole place spotless . We would both thoroughly recommend . Food hot, puddings both home made and hot .

Went for snack lunch with 9 of us in the middle of a days walking. Staff very happy to see us and cheery. Servive excellent. Sandwiches (I had brie, bacon and cranberry) and homemade soup were delicious, just what we needed. Would highly recommend.

Visited lunchtime for a coffee and cake with friends. Long wait just for the coffees and the fruit cake was dry like it was days old and the service from the lady at the bar was very unfriendly to the point of us wondering why she even works there if she doesn't like the job!! Left us with a bitter taste and won't be returning!! As far better places!!

Myself and My sister called in for dinner on Saturday before heading to the Cheese and Grain. Being local I have high expectations of Wadsworth pubs, the Somerset Wagon in the village I live is absolutely superb, so when we heard this place had had a £1m refurb we were excited to visit. The beer was good, but….the food…… The menu was limited and doesn’t show much imagination, most things unavailable at 19:00 on a Saturday, the flat bread to start with was good, but the mains, marketed as “the Big Boat burger”, I felt like i was eating at a Wetherspoons but being charged four times the price, take a look at the picture of how it arrived at the table and make your own mind up. Not great and will jot be back anytime soon.

Stopped here for lunch as the new place up the road isn't open yet. A shame the Thai place has closed too. A quaint place from the 1500's with little rooms with tables in and a well stocked bar. All the meals we had were lovely, which is contrary to what previous reviewers have said, but we enjoyed them! Nice burgers with a generous helping of definately hand cut and cooked chips like the menu says, and nice tasting salad and coleslaw too. The fish and lamb platefulls were tasty too and we had to chase up a dessert which means they don't rush you eating there. Nice atmosphere with an open fire although it was not a cold day in March. Might even return but do not attempt parking through the archway unless you have a small car, park down the road.

Ordered the chicken and mushroom pie and looked ok until I cut into it. The second mouthful I came across had a two and half inch bone in it. Refused to pay and said reasons why and was told South African lady makes the pies and doesn’t understand !!! Could have been a child eating this!!!
