"Undoubtedly, this is one of the more basic and budget-friendly hotels I've stayed at in Brunei. I booked it primarily to find an affordable stopover in Brunei, where accommodation prices can be quite high, and in the end, the experience was okay. However, I absolutely have to complain about its cleanliness and facilities, which severely fell short of my expectations. Firstly, there were some strange white marks on the room floor. Secondly, the bathroom and toilet weren't cleaned thoroughly at all, especially the toilet. As for the facilities, everything was simply too old. I have a travel adapter, but due to the design of the outlets, it kept popping out when I tried to plug it in, making charging a real issue. What I found most baffling was that there was no hot water for my shower at 10:30 PM, forcing me to take a quick cold shower 😭. On a positive note, the airport pickup service was excellent; the driver waited patiently for me and was very friendly!"

"Early Check In before 12pm, few times stay here but this time doesnt need to put deposit ($200) like before. Staff is a boy (frgt to ask the name) is very friendly. Check in process is easy & fast. This time no outside parking coz many events in the hotel, so I park my car in the basement which is free parking till I checked out. Just gv the receiption our car plate no. Satisfied with dis room (529) clean & big room worth the money with free breakfast for 2pax."

"The hotel is located quite far from the city center, but it does provide a free shuttle service to and from the airport. It is also not very close to the sea; however, this is not a major issue since swimming is prohibited at the nearby beaches anyway. Additionally, there are no cafes or shops within walking distance of the hotel, which makes the location even less convenient. The prices at the hotel’s cafe are overpriced. The hotel’s design feels somewhat outdated, but nothing critical. What was truly disappointing, however, was the service. The hotel presents itself as a 4-star property, yet it is surprisingly strict about a very basic necessity — drinking water. Guests are provided with only one bottle of water per person per day. There is coffee and tea available in the room, but to boil the kettle you need additional drinking water, which the staff refused to provide. They insisted that water had already been supplied during housekeeping and that no more was allowed. We had to keep asking for it as if they were personally paying for it themselves. That was extremely unpleasant. The tap water is yellow, and there were also issues with the hot water. Only one person works at the reception desk, which is clearly insufficient for a hotel with this many rooms, resulting in long waiting times. The reception staff are not knowledgeable about nearby attractions and do not assist with arranging tours, suggesting that guests find everything out on their own. Unfortunately, the overall service was extremely disappointing."

"The hotel's facilities are a bit old, but it's very clean, especially the sheets and bedding. There's also a balcony, which is great for drying clothes. The two staff members at the front desk, Sophie and her colleague (I'm sorry, I can't remember the other name!), were incredibly warm, friendly, and professional. They patiently answered all our questions. The hotel's location is excellent; it's within a ten-minute walk to the museum, Jame' Asr Hassanil Bolkiah Mosque, the market, the water village jetty, and the bus terminal. Taxis are very scarce in this country, so being close to public transport is a huge advantage. To the left of the hotel is a supermarket, and to the right is a restaurant with affordable food. A big thank you to the hotel for the free airport transfer and the helpful tour map. My main purpose for this trip was to photograph proboscis monkeys, and the jetty offers convenient speedboat access to the Brunei River mangroves."

"Internet didn't work the first day. The ”kitchen” has no utensils, no mugs, plates, nothing. Just an electric kettle and the fridge with plenty of smelly food. The room has neither a table nor a chair, just beds and a big wardrobe (what for??). If You open the window, You can smell the smoke of the cigarettes (supposedly forbidden in the hotel) from rooms in the vicinity. The restroom is often occupied (one toilet for the hole corridor - six doors). The stuff is super formal, no smile, no cordialities, pay money, give deposit and goodbye. Overpriced and not recommended."

"Every staff member was incredibly friendly and attentive, and the facilities were top-notch. The serene environment was so refreshing, and the hotel's sunset viewing spot was absolutely stunning. You definitely won't be disappointed if you come here."

"This is a little outdated but very well maintained and clean hotel. Buffet breakfast offers a lot of choices, especially deserts.The hotel is located in a very busy shopping area and it's difficult to find a parking spot because hotel doesn't have it's own parking lot except for several spots in front of the main entrance."

"We stayed at Embun in Brunei and it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. The property is beautifully maintained, blending modern comfort with tasteful local touches — spotless rooms, comfortable beds, and thoughtful amenities that made our stay effortless. The location is peaceful yet conveniently close to key attractions, and the sea views and surrounding trees were perfect for relaxing after a day of sightseeing. What truly set Embun apart were the hosts, Diana and Jimi. Warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming, they went above and beyond to ensure we had everything we needed. Diana anticipated our preferences, arranged excellent local recommendations, and made check‑in seamless with a friendly, professional manner. Jimi’s local knowledge was invaluable — from arranging transport to sharing insights about hidden gems around Brunei. Both were always available without ever being intrusive, striking the perfect balance between professionalism and sincere hospitality. The food recommendations and small personal touches (welcome refreshments, spotlessly clean bathrooms, and prompt responses to requests) made us feel well cared for throughout our stay. If you’re visiting Brunei and want a comfortable, restful base with hosts who make you feel like a valued guest, Embun with Diana and Jimi is highly recommended. We’ll happily return."

"Capital Residence Suites, Brunei I had a generally pleasant stay here. The room was clean, spacious, and comfortable, and the place felt quiet and calm, which was nice after a long day out. The bed was comfortable and the room was well maintained. Breakfast was provided and was simple but sufficient to start the day. Nothing fancy, but acceptable. A good highlight is the free city tour organized by the hotel. During the tour, I managed to visit Energy Hub, Masjid Omar Ali Saifuddien, Istana Nurul Iman, Balai Khazanah Islam Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah, Gadong Mall, and Masjid Jame’ Asr Hassanil Bolkiah, which was very convenient for first-time visitors. Also the big plus is free airport pick-up and drop-off (reservation required) Staff were friendly and helpful, and check-in was smooth. Overall, it offers decent value for money and is suitable for a short stay, especially if you want an easy way to explore Bandar Seri Begawan."

"The reception lady was lovely and professional. She verified all the required details promptly and, shared some useful information within the hotel and nearby attractions. The room is pretty standard, comes with the necessary in-room amenities and the air-conditioning was NICE. The environment was pretty neat, no loud noises from the street nor from the air-conditioning. Location of the hotel is ideal. It is near some of the main attractions, while furtherest is about a 15 minutes car ride. Breakfast buffet (at an additional fee) is alright, mainly international cuisine. Tried their in-house restaurant and in-room dining. Food was delicious and affordable. All of the staffs I have came across and interacted were extremely friendly and positive. Nothing much to be picky for this hotel."
